Howdy Y’all! Peach cobbler and ice cream has been consumed and stoopid teevee watched. I shall see what up on teh intartoobz for a bit and then call it a night. **Cat\_Glove** glad someone found and turned your phone in. I left mine in a car rental place once and had similar good luck. Coffee thingy sounds like it was fun today. I voted for 910 as well. **Oopsie** Jawja has waaaaaay too many counties. I am sure the number could be pared down to at least a hunnert, not that that will ever happen. Once upon a time there were 161 counties, but two small counties merged with Fulton County (Etlanner) sometime in the 1920s or 1930s. I know of at least two of the current counties (Echols and Webster) that don’t have incorporated towns. **shoe** I acted a lot like Monkey durin’ my stoner days. ---

Late night final. Soccer was coached, Mac-n-Cheese assimilated, USA Soccer watched and garbage taken out to the bin, which will go to the curb sometime tomorrow for Thorsday pickup. Trying to negotiate moving a Saturday soccer game to Friday (partly because lots of players are leaving town over Fall Break and storms are due all day Saturday), we’ll see what the parents say. Temperature is down to 63 delightful Fahrenheits, could become used to this. Did the last quarterly budget plan for the year, looks good but also has enough for the…unexpected…which all homeowners know about. **Cat Glove** , sounds like a wonderful day out. And as one who has left my phone in various places and always had it turned in, happy for your good luck. Well, I’m at Sis’ for the night. Around 2100, a transformer blew at home, leaving me without power. According to management, we likely won’t have it restored until tomorrow, so I threw a few things in a bag, harnessed up Nelson and headed somewhere that I could charge my phone and have Internet. ---

You people crack me up. I told my brother about the martini comments. He heartily agreed. I’ll be drunk dialing each of you from rehab until they kick me out. Well, I’m leaving for the airport in a while. I’m a little nervous because when I reserved the ride, Uber told ME what time the Uber will be here, so it’s a little later than I would like. This is a concern because when I reserved one for my brother’s hospital trip in another suburb 40 miles away, Uber was unrealistic about traffic, and while we got there on time, it was just barely and a good 25 minutes after Uber predicted. I’m all checked in at Delta. For the 6 a.m. medications, my sister-in-law got up at 5:55 and was out there doing it on her own, which is good. I’d already put the right doses of the right medications in the little cup. Since I didn’t know she planned to give him the meds, I didn’t put an oxy in there and planned to ask him if he needed one, and she hadn’t checked the document I’d made to see. I watched her get the 10 a.m. meds ready, and there were a few minor glitches, but hopefully she won’t make any major mistakes. I tried to make the system simple, but she’s easily confused and somewhat forgetful. In a few days, my brother will be off oxy entirely, and he can then manage his own meds. I hope. My sister-in-law said yesterday that she wishes I’d move in with them, and that the place seems empty without me. This makes me feel guilty for leaving, but I HAVE to get those shots on Thursday. Their son arrives for the weekend on Friday. Also, I’d go bonkers living here. It’s a very upscale 55+ community, and their house has spoiled me for my apartment. (“All that work just to get ice? How did I _stand_ it?”) Every bedroom has an en suite. My brother’s shower is the size of my entire bathroom. However, there are no mature trees–I’m part Druid–and it’s eerily quiet. I know when we crossed several time zones last year for our cruise and the changing schedule didn’t cause any problems, Still… OK, I’m late with my morning 'puter time, so I must read on. Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/61f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cloudy because the fucking sun hates you.” **Moooom** that’s a tough call on Ziva. Given that she eating, drinking and stuff’s coming out of the other end properly, I would not be worried about her health. Deteriorating sight and hearing will make her world small, but if she is able to move around and find her way to things, then maybe she should just be left to live out her days in a safe environment where she knows she’s loved. **Knotty** it would require a serious amount of packaging before I decided that cookie was not required 🙂 **Taters** I hope you feel better today and are able to accomplish a few little tasks. **red** I hope you get your power back quickly, but yay for having Sis on hand to provide a place to stay. Yesterday was busy, got a lot done for irk, logged out a bit later than I’d hoped, made campus food, fed cats, went to the gym, came home and made dinner for me. Reasonably early night and a not too shabby sleep which is good because today has been Teh Draaaaaaaama! Fractious Student has paled into the background compared to today’s offering. On Monday, a student was asked to leave a lecture because they wouldn’t stop talking despite both the lecturer and other students asking them to stop. Student left, came to the office and was quite stroppy, and was removed by security due largely to unbecoming language and a lot of finger-pointing at staff (which can be construed as threatening behaviour). They were then summoned to meeting today with the head of wellbeing and the head of education, and were told that there would be a security person in the foyer in case they were needed. We knew the meeting was taking place in the office next to ours…and we could hear the student ranting and shouting. We found out afterwards they’d been rambling almost incoherently, but had made threats to kill “someone”. No idea who, but security again escorted them out of the building. Then we found out they’d been back into the building, upstairs to the office of the lecturer who’d thrown them out of her class, and had smeared poo on her office door! Security came back in larger numbers, swept the building and decided the student was no longer on the premises. As a precaution, the main doors were locked while they scoured campus. Due to the nature of the threats, and the damage to the office door, the police were called. So now our ground floor admin office is on lockdown and we have been told to use the doors at the back of the building instead. We’ve been offered safe offices elsewhere to work but because we’re stubborn, we’re staying put. I have, however, just been up to the 4th floor to make a drink (it’s the only staff kitchen with a kettle) and two other people wanted to come with me as there’s safety in numbers. While we were up there, we saw the head of operations, she said they were getting in touch with the student’s emergency contact person and would be advising them to remove the student immedately. There are also plans for an immediate suspension which means the student won’t have access to campus as their ID swipe card will be disabled. it means all our access doors will be on swipe-only for a while, but we can live with that. ---

Good morning. This whole not being able to get up in the morning is getting old. I like my morning walks with Chloé. I did talk to my Endo about this. She said that my body needs the rest because it’s basically rebuilding itself. I get that, but the twilight this morning as I dragged my butt out of bed was gorgeous, and I nearly missed it. I had an extremely itchy night. I’m guessing we got out of sync with the Xolair shots. Mrs. Nott made a call, and we’re now scheduled for a shot on Thursday. It’s Wednesday, or Wodin’s Day, or Weed Nose Day, depending on how. erudite or silly you’d care to be. I usually opt for silly. I got up on time this morning, but I still haven’t found my reading glasses. I have spare pairs, and I’ll go get one of those. Outdoors, it’s 62F, rising to 67F at about 3:00 PM. It will probably rain. My wife got one of those “Help, I’m in jail” texts. She recognized it as a scam, so she did a block-and-report on that number. This is something to watch out for. Variations say, “I’m your grandchild, and I’m in jail.” ---

I wish word would have an inbuilt wordcount not including tables and figure legends. Their official suggestion for how to do it is to just select all of the stuff you don’t want included at the same time, note the number of words included in the selection then remove that from the total… like that’s practical in a document this size… 🙄 Sounds like you have an early candidate for worst student of the year **BooFae**. I hope they’re the annual winner… We had one student at my previous uni who, well, let’s say decided that taking the extra ten steps from the coffee shop in the library to the adjoining facilities was ten steps too many. Right in front of the CCTV camera. Morning all. Kidneys decided I had slept too well the last few nights so went into overdrive and I was up 3 times before 6 am (over 1.5 liters expunged) and hopefully now that I am up they will settle down some. Another great morning (73F but heading to 90F so the windows may get closed and the AC turned back on) and nothing much on the agenda. Will get the garbage bin out to the curb tonight, and hopefully the recycle bin will be emptied today (they are nearly 2 weeks late). My usual bill for the gym (automatic deduction) went through, but is charged to “US Fitness” instead of “Phaze3 Fitness” which makes me suspect that ownership may have changed…I’ve noted the T-shirt display has been taken down and the sanitizing bottles have changed brand, so we’ll see if there are more substantive changes coming. **Red** , you seem to be having a beaver’s life–one dam thing after another. Take care. **swampy** , enjoy provisioning. I need to get gas either today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow because I can then keep boasting I only have to fill my tank once a month…) **nellie** , safe travels home. Hope SIL gets the medications right, and you live where you’re the most comfortable being at (if your lucky). **FCM** , it’s usually at the gym, I put it in certain places on the treadmill and stationary bikes and will forget to pick it up once in a while–been doing better, haven’t forgotten it in over a month now (and yes, I’ve just jinxed myself…). Rain is due here Friday night and most of the weekend, but we’ll see. **boo fae** , sounds like Fractious Student needs some mental health help and a break from university. Good morning. It’s 49°F with some fog. Today’s forecast calls for AM clouds and some PM sun, with a high of 64°F. **BooFae** , wow! That student has really spiraled. I’m glad everyone is safe, but I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. **Nuts** , Grammarly counts words, but I don’t remember whether tables count. I used Grammarly after drafting documents at work in Word and found it useful and way better than Word for many functions. I copied and pasted the document into the program and let it do its thing. **Nellie** , wishing you safe and uneventful travels. I know what you mean about trees. I gotta have them. I also noted that although the area my daughter lives in has multiple deciduous trees, there are no evergreens. I like evergreens. **Red** , I’m glad you have someplace to go with Nelson during the power outages. I left my phone at home a few times while still working. It felt weird not having it. Now that I’m retired, though, if I leave my phone at home while running errands, it doesn’t bother me much. But most of the time I have it, and I’m thankful I do. I had another night filled with disturbing dreams that woke me up. My husband got up and fed the dogs this morning so I could try to sleep a couple more hours. I gave up and rolled out of bed at 7:00, which is really, really late for me. I don’t have plans for the day. I’ll probably work on tidying and some other small projects. 65F and foggy again today. The wife overslept, so breakfast was a hurry-up affair so I could make it to exercise, which was a real slog this morning for some reason. Weather, maybe? Nothing planned for the day. ---

Not in my 2012. 😉 For reasons known only to the mysterious guiding forces of the universe, I decided to wash windows. Well, not all of them - just the ones out front, since the back ones were in full sun when I started,. They’re shaded now, but I’m still working on the front ones (except for this lunch break) and I’m rapidly running out of steam. Maybe I’ll finish tomorrow. Just in time for the weekend rain!! I’m so glad we have a hand-held shower head - it makes cleaning the screens so much easier. Three down, three to go, tho two of them are really small, so there’s that. I wish we could afford to replace our windows. It’s been at least 16 years and, frankly, they’re not all that great. But I’m pretty sure the ones I’d like to get are _waaaaaay_ out of our budget. So I guess we’ll deal. Plus I’d rather have a new kitchen than new windows (talk about _waaaaaay_ out of our budget!!) OK, I’ve finished the leftover sketties. Back at it before I completely run out of steam.
