I’ve been looking at them, mostly because I like the THC infused drinks which are in the same place. I’ve learned that some of the booze in the cans is actually refined from Agave wine. That’s a really interesting rabbit hole for folks to fall into during a slow hour.

That’s not a good way to win friends and influence people, but at least the mentally ill person will be looked at and hopefully guided to therapy.

If it helps, remember all those naps your kids had when they were growing up. Growing is hard work!

The usual thing. Except now each loader on the Boxline has to do 4 package cars. We have trouble getting things done, so were expecting 25% more work in the same time? Also, when I was bringing the stuff up for dispatch to put, in The Senior Shouting Officer was up there. She asked me where I was today. 🤔
Also, Spot stabbed me in the finger as I was leaving.

> What if you saved the entire thing under another name, deleted what you don’t want counted, then count the rest? Just curious, tho, why do you need a word count?

That’s what I’d come up with as well, just seems like as it’s so keen to give you a word count- it’s right there in the corner the whole time- it should have some means to change what’s counted, but no…

I have to declare the final word count cos there’s a max, to stop people waffling on endlessly. It’s been a thing for all my uni assignments more or less, but that’s not a big deal when there’s 2 figure legends and one table that need to be excluded from the total- when it’s somewhere around 70, it gets a bit more complex…

According to an email I just had, I had a parcel delivered 2 hours ago. Given that I’ve not left the house all day and I have a camera both on the driveway and on the door covering the path up to it, and I am not in possession of said parcel, I am suspicious that this may not be wholly accurate.

> It stops working after a few days.

It’d just be a trip hazard for me in the kitchen or garage. But it reminds me of the rugs in the elevators on Holland America’s ships - they had the day of the week on them. Very handy at sea!.
And it brought to mind the olden days of filing cabinets when you’d insert a placeholder after removing a folder, to make it easier when you refiled it. I need such a thing in my purse poking out of the compartment where my phone goes. Sheer genius!!!

Otis has had his second booster, so he’s good to go to the kennel next week. But he isn’t a good boi at the vet - he needs to be muzzled. Stoopit dog. He loves everyone, but he growls at the vet and vet tech.

And the windows in the front half of the house are done. The screens were particularly cruddy and the hall bathroom is a bit of a mess. I’ll clean it after I do the rest of the windows - probably tomorrow. I’ll do the screens while it’s sunny in back and by the time I’m done, it should be shady.

Now, tho, I need some chillage. Even with windows that fold in for cleaning, it’s a big chore. And I tidied up the plants that live in the front window. The pothos was almost sentient! I hacked it back, but I need to trim it and transplant the trimmings. So I need a pot or two. So I guess I need to get to work in my studio. Later. Chillage now.

My very favorite ever housekeeper kept a mental list and would deep clean my tchotchkes and display areas one room each cleaning.

This morning was very quiet when I woke up at 0830 which confused me. We have a bird feeder about 6 ft away from our bedroom window and the birds are usually squabbling over food by dawn. TIL birds can’t fly in the fog. They can’t see through it and their wings get wet. They made up for lost time when they were able to get to the seed, no birds starved this morning.

Now you have to ask yourself…are you going to believe the e-mail or your own lying eyes?

So I’m now finished filling out permit applications. Finally. I’m so happy I didn’t volunteer to help GA, I try to keep my spread sheets to one page by reducing text size. I wouldn’t be able to read my notes if I had to keep track of that many counties.

It is warmer today, up to 80F so I’m considering taking the power washer to the front porch. I know it will be a wasted effort, winter is coming and the porch roof can’t stop sideways rain and snow, but it just looks so shabby out there right now. Those 14 weeks of not doing anything are really showing. I’m starting to catch up on stuff, but its taking time.

Have canned cocktail, will travel. (Just not with planes.) Sounds perfect for train rides - I should investigate the next time I’m at one of the bigger grocery storages or the beverage market.

> [@Mollie\_Magill](#):

Might as well make scones and have clotted cream. Bread gets butter when there’s cinnamon sugar involved. Or garlic and cheese.

Went to the gym today. Still can’t get into the app, despite messing with it. Hopefully I can figure that out next time, but today the attending trainer was working with somebody. At least I could activate the machines with my arm band doo-dad. But I want to see my analytics. I know there’s not much, after just two sessions, but each machine had numbers and graphs. It appears to be a problem on their side, so I have to talk to somebody. Something else for the to do list.

At least the treadmill 1) has a place to charge my phone and 2) has a reminder to tell me to take my phone when I’m done. Having a gym with all new equipment does have its advantages.

At the gym after starting the dishwasher and bringing the recycling bin back to the garage. Definitely a sloth day, only activity I have left to get done is the last load of trash to the bin and the bin to the curb, otherwise not much else on the agenda.

Will write more when I get back home sometime later. Depends on how much reading and browsing I do between sets. And I was right, they have new T-shirts for sale at the gym but with a different name as the logo.

Back later.

It’s a cool, sloshy, soggy day in the western Mitten State, and I am not sad about that.

I work a split-shift tonight, going in at 8 and closing. Not sad about that, either.

However **Car(e)less Co-worker** just let me know he got let go.

I’m not surprised.

He absolutely _sloshed_ a totally under-baked pizza half off the cardboard round it’s supposed to sit on, coupla days ago, and I thought **S.M.** was gonna lose her mind at his clumsiness. He’s kinda been on her Shit List for a while, and I guess that was the last straw.

Meanwhile, Ms. Family Nepotism has been out sick all week, called in PTO, so I guess she’d better come on back soon.

Might hafta call in the Fancy Soup ™ tonight.

Well the snail artists came back with their exhibit, it still doesn’t work. They seem to be building for a temporary art installation, where people are nice to things, not a children’s museum where people break things. This marks the 4th time it has been hung and removed, this time it didn’t even get to see a visitor.

Ms Peach is being barky, which is unusual for her. I don’t know what’s up. I think she’s mostly mad cuz I have made the back yard escape proof (I hope).

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions. Then we decided on a little quality cee-mint pond time, the last of the season. Didn’t stay out but a couple of hours, but it was nice. Showerage and nappage then happened, followed by day drinkin’. Sup got nuked, the kitchen cleanded and stoopid teevee watched. Now it’s time to see whatup on teh intartoobz.

**BooFae** just dayuuum! Hope they find this person soonest and get them off campus. You definitely need pub night tonight!

**Mollie** glad you were able to get up this mornin’. Rest is a good thing for your body right now, it seems.

**Knotty** hope you’re less itchy. Silly is my default, as well. Never gotten a jail text, but back in the days of landlines would get the occasional collect call from so and so jail. They always got declined. As far as I know, it was never from family or friends.

**Nuts** the story about the student has given juvenile me the giggles! I am sure it gave the giggles to more than a few folks at the uni.

**Nellie** I trust you are safe and sound at home by now. Since you had to fly today I hereby prescribe a martini or two. You are right martinis in an iv wouldn’t work as the olives are a must. A martini must come with its own snack.

**Taters** seven o’clock is sleepin’ in for me, as well. For a good deal of my irk years seven a.m. was my start time.

**red** I gather the power is back. HUZZAH!

**MOOOOOOM** when we replaced windows in 2019 I was aghast at the price. I can’t even imagine now. OYKW had to calm me down by remindin’ me we had budgeted money for it in da cave remodel.

**JtC** you gave me a TIL about birdies. I had no idea! HUZZAH on gettin’ all the permit applications filled out!

**shoe** actually it would require the Holy Spirit and the angel Gabriel. I am sure both would sidestep the Pope. A cool, sloshy, soggy day sounds like a day for fancy soup.

Evening all. Gymed was gymed, dishes are washed and put away, garbage is on the curb and dinner is in my belly, so all is right with the world. And still didn’t need to run the AC today, so my October electric bill is looking better and better. Tomorrow is 1 October (hard to believe we are 3/4 of the way through the year already) and I’ll do my top of the month financial data checks, don’t expect anything too out of the ordinary but nice to see all the numbers. And on the gym front, they were removing the name from the front of the building prior to putting a new name up (but without any tarps or scaffolding).

And see how the day has gone for my fellow Mumpers…

**Taters, cookie** , no plans for the day…knew your were my type of people…

**red** , happy to hear your back home. And it sounds like life is returning to normal.

**FCM** , don’t think I have ever washed my windows (have washes the window blinds on occasion), have thought about getting a service to perform that task but haven’t worked up the ambition to call one. And yeah, if/when you get the windows replaced, get at least 3-4 estimates, prices (based on my experience about 4 years ago) can vary wildly.

And I’ve seen some fancy hotels with the day mats, can’t remember if I’ve seen them on a ship or not.

**doggio** , sounds like the ‘do more for less’ management style…good luck.

**Nut** , good luck with the count, and hope the parcel makes it; Amazon is telling me they shipped something to the US Post Office and it…vanished, so I ordered a new item tonight, we’ll see if that has any better luck.

**JtC** , haven’t had a good fog bank here in a long time, just as happy if it stays away, driving in fog is not fun at all. And Conga-rats on doing all the permits; lots of people will thank you for that, even if they are not aware of it.

**Shoe** , guess **S.M.** has a breaking point where she’s not so sweet anymore and Cow-orker got there. And go for the Fancy Soup!!

**VanGo** , boo! on snail people, but yay! for you in securing Ms. Peach, even if she objects.

And that’s all for this night. Take care and I’ll reconnect over my Big Bowl O’Cheerios tomorrow. Have a good one all.

We put new windows into our place ourselves about 20 years ago. Both of almost died of the vapors when we learned how much we were going to be paying someone else to do this house.

We are about a block away from a decently large river so morning fog is pretty common. We also get fog rising over the forest during the evening sometimes which is delightfully gothic.

Thank you but that was just the first part. Now I need to follow up and be sure that they all get processed. That’s a lot of phone time, but at least I don’t have to remember if DST is in effect and what the time difference is with or with/out it.

I agree with you about driving in fog. WV weather isn’t very nice to working folks, but its great for people who like to sit inside their comfy house and look at the weather through the glass.

If you don’t want to look out your windows-I seem to remember you saying you never open your blinds-then you shouldn’t pay someone to wash the outsides. That layer of dirt is helping to block the UV coming into your house and might even help with your AC bills.

So today we finally put all of the hardware back on the door in my room. I didn’t want to ding the paint and we rarely close that door anyhow.

Back when I was a pre-teen, Dad built a 6 room extension to the childhood home. Folks called it an extension, I called it a wing because that sounded so much classier.

Well, anyhow the rooms needed doors and Dad, who was trying to save money where he could, bought doors without the door knob holes. He borrowed a tool to cut the holes but miss measured one. As a very impressionable young lady, I clearly remember this because I learned so many amazing words and how they could be used so many interesting ways.

So…back to my door. When the painter pulled the doorknob out, he struggled with it and then showed me that part of the inside was slightly bent.

When I tried to put the new doorknob on, it wouldn’t fit correctly. I pulled it out and looked at how it worked then looked at the hole. There was what looked to be a small gouge mark where the doorknob wouldn’t close. I knew what had happened, so asked Hubs if we had a file.

That led to him taking almost an hour to figure out what I told him originally, there was a mistake made back in the '80s and a small bit of wood needed to be filed out. There was a time when I would have been offended by that, today I just handed him the hinges and let him have at it. I couldn’t have reached the top hinge without a step stool anyhow.

I"m glad all of that stuff is off my desk, it was pretty crowded.

The Wednesday Costco and Kroger run is complete. I got back and discovered that _someone_ has finished off the pimento cheese. I won’t pointfingers, but I believe the culprit’s name may rhyme with Bissus Babill.

Good thing I had added extra sharp cheddar cheese to the list. New pimento cheese is now curing in the fridge.

I now have a Manhattan and will chill with my notes for my game tomorrow.

G’night all!

I napped . Cheese was delivered, which upset Spot. I’m up, having a martini, and chicken and cavatappi with broccoli with oregano, garlic and [Bobby Flay]Calabrian chilis[/Bobby Flay]

They replaced the windows in the complex back in 2019. I remember it because: 1. It was my day off. 2. It was 50 degrees that day, and it was 5 hours between window removal and window installation. 3. It took 6 hours. did you know a 60lbs. Jack Russell terror(Gordie) can bark continuously for 6 hours?

I’m surprised more women don’t growl at their gynecologist for the same reasons.

I played around in the studio this evening and made a couple of [steampunk](https://scontent-hou1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/831135085_10241455843267820_1575569254323132954_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_tt6&cstp=mx2048x1339&ctp=p180x540&_nc_cat=105&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=aa7b47&_nc_ohc=P-k78H-MHbAQ7kNvwEjLOql&_nc_oc=AdqZF3qZ1EJ7Nd418Z4N8iMiAO373w3hDWFxT6dfmWO4LbU9pBx35GbGRy5Lv4D2gvHlga-slm1EndJUKfd9uav3&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-hou1-1.xx&_nc_gid=yP0GOEoECoyHHyCvfnalYQ&_nc_ss=7b2a8&oh=00_AQOKAX4nyilNtpWHxdHgyELpPdPF-V8erT8H_2H69TkUhA&oe=6AC3AAE1) cards. I likely won’t get much done tomorrow, since it will be ~1800 by the time I get home from the MRI.

Big accomplishment for the day: I sent my Canon F-1 and Pentax Spotmatic in for repairs, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment, and two Olympus OM10s (Where they hell did _they_ come from?) in for CLA.

Not a horrible day at irk. I’d much rather be financially independent.
