Seeing as how I’m slightly more annoying to TPTB than the average person, I’ve gotten in the habit of checking it every few days. I printed a copy of our water bill (I had to have it put into my name only when I was getting my Real ID), grabbed the copy of our house title (I am too smart to trust them with the original) and my brand new passport and headed to city hall. I should be showing as Active again tomorrow, but now I’ll be checking daily just to be sure. I’m a very untrusting person at heart. On the way, I must have run over a nail or something, because I had a really low tire when I got there (the dash light was on for it about halfway to the imaging center). I called Sis and BIL came over took a look, put in some fix-a-flat and got out the air compressor and I was good to come home. Tomorrow, I’ll take it into the shop for a pair of back tires (my dad always taught us to replace tires, headlights and brake lights in even numbers). ---

Working on Kroger grocery list. **Nut** excellent; now you can drink the celebratory drink! We had half a chicken breast leftover so I make spaghetti with chunky tomato, onion & garlic sauce with bite-size chicken that I reheated with olive oil and some chicken broth, also some sauteed onions. Side was mediterranean blend veggies drizzled with olive oil. Going to watch the WNBA playoff game between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces. ---

Up from naptime. Although I didn’t get out of bed right away since Spot wanted snuggles and earwax. Dinner tonight is Smoked Paprika Chicken with rosemary garlic potato rounds, and sauteed asparagus. Evening all. Did my exercising at the gym, then changed to my referee clothes and did a 5:15pm U12 Girls game on my own, so plenty of exercise performed. Have Chee-burgered and had a all-apple dessert tray (mini-apple pie, 2 cups applesauce and an apple) so belly is full again. Gas tank is full (33.56mpg for this tank) and Credit Union savings has a few extra dollars in it, so all-in-all not a bad day. Temperature is down to 80F and will drop to 68F later tonight so open window time. **JtC** , get those documents and shove them where they’ll do the most good. **shoe** , well, at least you’ll know where you’ll be–at work..take care now. **doggio** , Nine Inch Nails is what NIN brought up on Google, but that doesn’t sound like **swampy’s** thing. > [@dogbutler](#): > > Unreasonably Happy **Mollie** makes us unreasonably happy. And thanks for the reminder, need to do my Firday shopping list before I go to bed tonight. **FCM** , clean windows and BIL problems solved; pretty good daily double. **52** , no, the blinds stay close, that’s the habit around here, plus in the summer months I…dress minimally, let’s say, so no showing off the physique to the neighborhood… **Knots** , I’ve been doing good on the ice cream in my freezer, have yet to eat a whole pint at one sitting and manage it pretty good…hmmmm, haven’t had any yet today… And that’s all for the late-night final. The Browns are beating the Steelers 21-10 and threatening to go to 3-1, which is as pleasing as it is surprising. Take care all. ---

Mexican food for dinner tonight. I couldn’t finish my shredded beef taco salad, and only ¾ of the grilled/fried jalapeños. The salad will wind up ijn a couple of tortillas. The ½ jalapeño might end up in a SPAM ®-and-cheese breakfast burrito. ---

I shall betake myself to the church house to deal with candle and other duties this mornin’. Whilst out and about I shall take care of a couple of errands and pick up some stoner food for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be the usual RDOS sloth. Morning. I’m facing the novel experience of not feeling guilty for not writing today. Feels odd. There’s still a tiny bit of my brain that hasn’t got the memo, but that’s it. I have no plans for the day. Maybe some pottering in the garden, might go into town, dunno. The heating is finally going on though, as the forecast is getting chilly after the weekend. And let’s see if the promised magical food finally appears this evening\[1\]. The prosecco is still in the fridge waiting. For the studint terlet situation, with the exception of the nasty brat at my former uni, who was a drunk British farm kid, it’s often people who have only used squat terlets before who can get some weird ideas about how they should be used and what goes where. I’ve seen a few signs explaining that one does _not_ stand on the seats in airports… * * * 1. I have some doubts, as I’m not sure they actually took my address. I will acquire some of my favourite filled pasta, as a quick but nice alternative which will keep a few days, just in case ---

Sheesh. 🙄 Talk of skins has given me an idea. I’ve got a bag of russets that I should use before we leave. So instead of peeling them for soup, I’ll cut hunks of skins off, then chunk the rest for soup. It’s genius, I tells ya!! I may even take a batch of soup to Aunt B’s. Apart from the usual laundry day, I’ll finish the windows in our bedroom/bath. I might even take the curtains down and wash them since I’ll be laundering anyway. I want to call the kennel to confirm our drop-off and pick-up times, plus check about payment. I need to pack baggies of kibbles for Otis and label them for his daily meals. And make that travel list. It should be a busy day. This weekend, we’ll take Otis to the DIY dog wash in Leonardtown so he’ll be relatively clean for the kennel. I could do him in the basement tub, but either I’d be bending over (hard on the back) or kneeling on the tile (hard on the knees.) It’s worth $15 to spare myself the misery. Plus they supply the soap and towels. For now, tho, I’ll finish my morning 'net surf. Happy Firday!! ---

A chilly 41F upon arising this morning. I feel for the homeless folk. The wife turns 80 today, which is a sobering thought for both of us. She is young at heart and birthdays have never been a big deal, but I can tell that this one is bothering her. Bought her a bouquet of flowers yesterday (hmmm. . .does anything else come in a bouquet? Seems like “of flowers” is unnecessary. But I digress) and the niece is coming over for lunch and bringing a cake, so that should perk her up. At least it will be a sunny day, unlike the rather dismal runup of the past week. My turn is coming next year and I admit that it is giving me the yips. ---

Good morning. It’s dark, 52F, and a little foggy. Morning clouds should clear, letting in the afternoon sun, and our daytime high will be around 70F. **Nuts** , congrats on submitting your thesis! I’m sorry your celebration treat turned into such a disappointment, but it’s nice the restaurant is making it up to you. I’m sorry for any confusion I caused yesterday. Of course, my husband knows I’m retired; we discussed it many times before I signed the paperwork. When I was still undecided, he told me he supported me either way. He knows how much I loved working at my former agency (putting aside the sometimes aggravating BS I had to deal with). Happy Birthday to your wife, **Chef!** I hope she enjoys her day! **Mollie** , if that person is your friend, they’ll be supportive; if they’re not, well, that’s on them. **Dicey** , I’m a fan of candied orange with dark chocolate, too. My county won’t even mail the ballots until a few days before October 13th, and that’s when drop boxes will open. I always put my ballot in drop boxes and do not rely on the post office. My registration is good, too. So, the door people will be arriving to install the new slider sometime between 10:00 a.m. and noon today. I am really looking forward to having a slider that opens easily and a full-width door opening. That stupid spring-loaded pet door really narrowed the opening, making it difficult to take things to the backyard sometimes. I need to hop in the shower in about 20 minutes or so, run the vacuum, and I’ll probably move the dining table since it sits in front of the slider. Mr. Taters will need to keep the pups upstairs during the installation since he nixed me from kenneling them at the vet for a few hours. That’s about all for now. ---

We did a Door Dash/Mc Allister’s Deli supper last night. It was a very nice sandwich with a skimpy serving of baked beans. That was followed by a serving of ice cream from the freezer in the back room. It’s 56F out there, surging to a blazing 66F at about 3 pm. It probably won’t rain, but it’s cloudy and gray. I have to go charge my phone and get breakfast. ---

I had to stop to swap out laundry loads and decided I needed to check on the MMP, so here I am! 😁 My excuse is, um, I need the sun to move on a bit more. Yeah, that’s it. The curtains are now in the washer and the first load is in the dryer. I’m going to get a refill of Diet Coke then get back to window cleaning. Really, the sun shouldn’t be much of an issue since the windows fold in for cleaning. But it sounded like a good excuse. Now I understand why maid services often say “No windows” - what a chore! ---

And a grand late morning to you all. Stayed in bed until nearly 8am and then did my Kroger shopping for Firday (alas, they were out of individual sticky buns, so made do with pancakes and bacon when I got home). Then did some browsing and web-comic reading and now it’s closing in on 10am already. Coaching soccer this afternoon about 5pm, so will find ways to spend my time between then. Another hot day, 81F now heading to 88F and not much of a chance of rain. And now to do the condiment thing and ketchup… **Mollie** , it was going to get out sooner or later, just hang in there and see how the chips fall. ( **shoe** said it better than me). **Nut** , takes the mind a little time to adjust to a change in routine, you’ll do fine. **FCM** , yeah, summer is getting one last dig in, I have my AC back on. Happy trip-prep time. **cookie** , Happy Birthday to wife, 80 is a milestone still 6+ years in my future, but I know that’s it’s coming. And I think sometimes people speak of wine or other smells having a ‘bouquet’, but maybe that is my poor memory. **Taters** , happy new door day! And while we were not poor, it was definitely a working-class budget my family lived on and I still am very careful on what I spend and not to get into (or to far into) debt. **boo fae** , that might be just a bit TMI on the toilets, but fascinating how people understand things; I remember my first encounter with a ‘squatter’ and trying to figure out how to use it (and as usual, **FCM** explains it better than I do). And that’s all for now, need to get caught up on the day’s reading and internettin’, so take care all.
