They already know that you are a solid worker and willing to learn and change. Fingers crossed that you get it!

> Oh, if only Bailey were a cuddler! 🙂

Awwww, I’m sorry. GG isn’t really a cuddler either. He is always in arm’s reach of a hooman but he really doesn’t like being picked up and carried around. Laps are a no go with him as well but he does cuddle up next to us when we are in bed so that is nice.

> [@Misnomer](#):
>
> Luckily, the four of us got out unscathed – but our cat didn’t make it.

I’m fairly sure kitty ran away and got lost because her home was gone so she had to find a new one. They would have found her bones otherwise.

> Woah! I’m glad there was no damage and – most importantly – no injury to yourself!

Oh, thank you! It wasn’t a fast hit, he was trying to straighten his truck out in a tight parking lot. He didn’t hit our car hard enough to make my head bob and I was pretty sure from the lack of noise that nothing was damaged.

I’m really glad I was there to see which direction the car was hit, cause if we had come out to find a note (he had his wallet in his hand while apologizing and looking at cars…I assumed that was so he could share his insurance info), we would still be walking around the car looking for non-existent damage!

> [@LSLGuy](#):
>
> You are a woman of great discernment & wisdom.

Thank you so much kind Sir!

When I see folks with overflowing plates, I always assume that they know exactly what they like and don’t have to fiddlefart around with one shrimp at a time.

We are new here, I’m still learning about the food. One thing that surprises me is the quality of the Kim-chi. I have never once been disappointed by it here, it always has a nice bite and this is a state that thinks that mild Pace Picante is HOT sauce.

I just found something interesting about the booze market in Canada that I wanted to share.
Seen people asking what happens to it all. I asked an LCBO employee.

" **RE: LCBO**

When Russia invaded Ukraine, we pulled all Russian products off the shelves. They sat in our store’s warehouse for months before being shipped back to the main warehouse for return to the manufacturer. I expect the same process here—set everything aside, wait, and if the situation doesn’t change, send it all back to the U.S.

Worst-case scenario, it gets written off as a tax loss for Ontario, but the idea of it all being poured down the drain? Highly unlikely, as long as it’s still sellable. This is uncharted territory—recalls and disposals happen for quality issues, but nothing on this scale has been done before. This is a **massive** amount of product.

One thing I do know: the LCBO is extremely strict about protocol when it comes to disposal. If we have a broken bottle or an unsellable return, one employee and one manager must witness the disposal at the store level. Every bottle is marked with a LOT#, so if anything were to turn up being resold elsewhere, it would be a serious liability.

So it looks like my assumptions were correct and the Canadians are far too sensible to pour good - consignment booze out.

> I just wish I’d grabbed a loaf of crusty bread when I was at the store. Dammit.

We stopped at Aldi’s on the way home and I bought a couple of loaves of their bake and serve bread. I’m really surprised at how good it is. Had I known this and about their super cheddar selection, we would have been making a special trip once a month ever since we got here.

> I usually get up several times at night, so when I come back to bed, I do that stretch so I can sleep better.

I also have to get up several times at night so I’m going to try to remember to get into the habit. Bad hip up or down?

I do like breakfast for dinner as well.

I think that we will have a Dutch Baby soon, I’ve never tried one but they sure do sound good. We have sausage and bacon I can bake up for the sides.

The UPS truck just backed in, that guy is amazing, no hesitation at all and he only has 6 inches clearance to play with.

I just read this and got all excited when I thought about one of my favorite restaurants along the Lincoln Highway. Then I realized that it was in East Liverpool which is still far away from where you live. 🙁

I’m speaking of The Hot Dog Shoppe. Haven’t been there in ages.

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and then we got back to da cave and stored ‘em. We achieved nappage and day drinkin’. We had martinis and nibbled on some cheese straws that jumped in our buggy at the Food Kitty. The soup and cornbread were perfection if’n I do say so myself. Thus is the news from swampland.

Evening all! I ran to the grocery store over lunch and secured Diet Coke for tomorrow, so future crisis has been avoided. I need to get blood work done in the morning so I’m trying to eat healthy/clean today just in case a recent heavy meal could throw things off (I don’t know if that’s true, but a friend years ago claimed her results were screwed up because of a fatty meal she had the night before). I’m honestly not expecting good results tomorrow, so I’ll take all the help I can get. So as part of that effort, I picked up some seasoned grilled chicken breasts the grocery store prepared to have with lunch and dinner.

When people complain about dry, tasteless chicken breast, I now know exactly what they mean. Holy Batman, these things are terrible! I barely choked half of one down for lunch, and I’m not sure I can face the thought of trying to do so again for dinner.

So in addition to the hours cuts, they laid off 29 people. Plus with all the staff juggling, half the people are doing things their not good at .
Driver: “Who’s supposed to be loading thins set?”
Me: “They expect me to load yours, but they forget and send me somewhere else.”
Driver: “I mean, Bottom Red, this other set.”
Me: “They have a different person every week.”
T: “You could ask Will(FT Sup)”
Me: “Don’t, every time I ask him something, he freezes in fear because I don’t know.”
But I got a brief nap, traded $1300(4 eggs) for Carmen, so now I have my own car again. I’m having a Royal Hawaiian, and Smoked Paprika Chicken and watching hockey.

Having him in your lap could cut off circulation to your legs. 🙂

Allie isn’t a lap cat, and doesn’t like to be cuddled for very long at a time, but does like some cuddles. Buddy can pretty much be a body part in some moods. He’ll hang out in the lap by the hour at times and lately has taken to sliding INTO the bed to help a human sleep. Not sure why he’s just started with the under-the-covers thing recently, but I don’t object as long as he keeps claws to himself and doesn’t bite me for scooting him so I can turn over. I could also do without a cold ID tag on a bare leg. If DH and I are in bed at the same time, he commonly settles in between us, usually in the vicinity of our legs.

I’ve worked in some that actually treated their workers like human beings. Hades Annex considered us office equipment and made sure we knew it.

Speaking of offices, I start a new temp gig Monday, with my county’s Fleet Services (whatever that is, I’ll find out). General clerical, but quite good hourly rate and a half-hour or so drive time. Works for me. At this point, I’ve been told 8-10 weeks duration. We shall see.

I’m still working on applying for a permanent gig with the transit system. Got testing to do on Wednesday (yes, temp agency and on-site supes are aware and this is not an issue for them), not sure what the process is from there.

I did not know that, but I do remember that I thought that he was very personable (and not scared of guns) and a class act.

Your cards are always so fun, I’m so glad you have things to keep your mind off of things.

Mrs. Harry has a new lazer cutting thing that she can program and use to make all sorts of fun looking stuff. How far can you walk without pain? I made it all the way through all of the Aldi aisles today but I’m feeling it tonight.

If WV wasn’t so old, I’d really be considering FCM’s idea of getting a wheelchair for my visits to WVU, but disabled access isn’t really a thing in hundred old campuses.

It’s been cold! Plus, he now fully trusts. That cold ID tag on the leg might make me not trust him anymore though!

GG and Jolene usually sleep between us as well. The only way I can really tell is when I reach down and stroke their fur. GG is soft and sleek, Jolene’s fur is coarser. It has gotten much softer with good food and no stress but she will never be as plush as GG.

Barkley is mostly black and gray and is very oily feeling. I’m fairly sure that is stress and eating donated food. I’m looking forward to seeing the improvement when he has a house and good food on a regular basis.

We talked to the shelter leader today and made sure that she wasn’t “saving” Barkley for us, he’s so sad at the shelter and we want him to have a good home now instead of waiting for us to have a gate made and installed.

It’s not a loophole. Without the law, private citizens could freely sell their firearms. With the law, private citizens can make a deal, but the actual transfer has to take place via a dealer with the ATF form 4473, and the dealer must hold the firearm for the waiting period. (I have a concealed carry permit – which I’ve never used – that I _think_ allow me to bypass the waiting period.) So basically, the law plugs the loophole.

ETA: Interestingly, when I lived in L.A. I could buy blackpowder handguns through the mail. Here in Washington, blackpowder firearms – which are not treated as ‘firearms’ by the BATFE – are treated as firearms and must be transferred through a dealer with the associated waiting period.

Hence me calling it a loophole. Private citizens in WV and AZ can freely sell their firearms to anyone over 18 with no paperwork or waiting periods. No background checks or permits or anything like that.

The law in Washington plugs that hole in Washington, it means nothing here or in AZ.

And a good late evening all. Spent a couple hours at the gym and got some sweating done, then came home and snacked a bit before going out to help with U9 soccer for about 90 minutes (most of the kids and parents were smarter than we were and stayed home, it was in the 40’s F). Home for a Chee-burger and that about rounded the day out. Tomorrow morning is the Great March shopping trip to Kroger, I have a coupon for $10 off any sale over $100 and I think I can manage that…the list just keeps getting longer. Supposed to get near 70F tomorrow, which is good news, but we’ll see if it continues or not.

My, everyone was quite chatty this afternoon.

**FCM** , get some of the same-type calls which get the same reaction from me. And there is Soup for You!!

**JtC** , glad the booze-hunting went well. And glad the car bump wasn’t anything serious, these days even the smallest dent can be sizeable bucks…

**Oopsie** , all appropriate appendages crossed for the new job. Even if you don’t make it past the interview stage, it keeps you in the minds of the powers-that-are. And Junior better get his act together or he might be joining the unemployment line…

**Sticky Buns** , read the menu and now I’m going to have to fix me some cheese-dogs tomorrow.

**52** , glad to hear the Diet Coke emergency was resolved.

**doggio** , are they trying to mess up so bad the place gets closed down? Sure sounds like it. And glad Carmen is back in your hands.

**Nettie** , hope the new job is enjoyable and interesting enough to keep your attention. Fleet services indicates to me something to do with the county’s cars/trucks/vehicles, but what you will be doing is something you can fill us in on later.

OK, still have some You Tubes to watch before lights out, so all y’all take care and I’ll catch you on firday.

And I’m out of time. Gotta go to work. Happy Friday!

This is Carol and the Board’s idea of “Better, not Bigger.”

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with a predicted high of 15c/59f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says "Cloudy and fucking mild. Someone needs to start a fucking dance party or some shit. Might it be you?! Not right now, thank you, I have irk to do.

We get cans from the vending machines and on-site shops, but we’re not told to use spill-proof containers. We do get warned that damage to laptops from spillages may result in us getting the bill for repairs though.

Good for her - more people need to be appalled, and demonstrate it!

Neither can I. I think the last bag I bought for myself was £45 and I thought that was a lot! I now only use one when I’m going out somewhere, I carry a backpack for work because of the amount of stuff I carry with me, so everything goes in there. Bags are for social stuff, and are bound to get stuffed under the seat in the car, dropped on the floor, and generally scuffed. If I spent £1K on a bag, I’d barely dare to use it or even let it go out of the house!

**Oopsie** fingers crossed for you! And I’m glad your junior wasn’t freaking out, but I hope he bucks his ideas up a bit 🙂

> Speaking of offices, I start a new temp gig Monday, with my county’s Fleet Services

Hurrah! I hope you enjoy it and the folks are nice. Good luck for the permanent application too.

The Travel Gods were kinder to me on the way home than they were on the way to irk yesterday. I got home, did chores, fed cats, cleaned litter trays then went to collect 'im indoors from the station. Today I mis-timed the bus so I had to wait for the next one (I saw the bus but I was halfway between two stops when I saw it and wouldn’t have time to get to either of them). No matter, I had to stop off at the bakery on my way in so I caught a later train and was still in the office at a reasonable time.

Hopefully it’ll be a quiet irk day, there’s only two of us in the office. I have one meeting, and that’s with the person who’s in the office with me so I don’t even have to go anywhere. 'im indoors is making dinner tonight, and we are off to a music festival tomorrow so I doubt I’ll have time for the gym as I will have some stuff to do at home instead.

The catsitter is coming on Saturday evening and again on Sunday morning to look after the girls so we don’t need to rush home again. We’ll be up in Bradford so we contacted a couple of friends who live not too far away and asked them if they fancied coming over for lunch. Just waiting to hear back from them, and we will make our plans accordingly.
