In the great tradition of RDOS, we’ve been dining before 5PM. OK, mostly because I don’t time things exactly right and they all seem to get done quicker than I expect. But **FCD** doesn’t care and neither do I. He’s rinsing the dishes and I’ll load the dishwasher as soon as he’s done. Since I’m always the one to empty it, I like it loaded to make unloading/stowing easier. That’s the rule here. The snow seems to be winding down and we’ve gotten more than I’d expected, but still under an inch on the paved parts. A little more might move thru after midnight and that should be the end of it. Then starting Saturday, we can expect highs in the 40s then 50s thru next week. Dare I hope this is the last gasp of snow? Yeah, right. The rest of the evening is dedicated to vegetating. After all, I baked and rollsucked! No wonder I’m exhausted! 😫 ---

You are far hardier than I. I put pants on around two and went outside to brush the snow off the car. It was a dry powdery snow and I didn’t even have to scrape frost or ice. Irk pre-emptively closed for today and part of tomorrow unnecessarily, it turns out. Oh, well. I have all but two of the Easter cards done and will finish them up this evening. ---

Well, I vacuumed all the floors. Not asking for a medal, or anything, but with my Parkinson’s-addled balance, it counts as major exercise. My nephew has some kind of belly-bad going on. Mrs. Nott took him to his doc, who sent him to the ER for intravenous antibiotics. Nephew’s wife showed up from her appointment somewhere else, so Mrs. Nott finished her other errands. For all I know, my nephew is still waiting in the ER. You know how that goes. ---

That usually never happens to me. I always allow for twice the recommended prep time just because I’m slow. Every so often, I’m wrong. Today I tried a new to me recipe for ham loaf and instead of taking twice the prep time, I only took half so dinner was early. Like you guys, it doesn’t matter. Hubs will sit down to eat whenever I tell him food is on the table and I mostly cook dinner for him. Good job! My floor cleaning is only one room at a time, all of the rooms would be too much for my back. So it started snowing around 0300 and kept it up most of the day. I seriously had no idea how bright snow is, I gotta figure out some sheers or something so I can have the curtains open and still be able to see to stitch. I don’t think it got over 20F today, I went out a couple of times to refresh the birdseed or toss hot dog pieces to the ravens, but that was the extent of my motivation. Tomorrow I have got to go and buy a bag of ice. Hubs seems to think that the r/o system along with the filters on the ice maker will stop him from getting the poopies, but I’m not trusting the water until the water company says it is safe. Today I used some of my silicon cheese molds to make ice which kinda worked, but was a PITA. I am more spoiled than I should be. ---

My lovely wife took a 1-session mozzarella-making class, and today her rennet came in the mail. She’s experimented and found she can have some A2 dairy, which is a tremendous help and greatly expands her options. The trick locally is to find A2 that’s at least vat pasteurized since she’s not supposed to have raw milk. ---

That meatloaf I made the other day… I cooked the one in the fridge for dinner tonight, with a _can_ 😲 of peas, drained and rinsed and cooked in olive oil margarine. I can’t remember the last time I cooked peas, and _definitely_ not the last time I used canned peas. Fortunately The Missus likes canned peas. ---

I texted the manager who said it was low '60’s in the office. So, instead of going to the division office, when it was up to 11\* I went to the Dept office, Admin div and one of the guys who had meetings outside the building, said I could use his office. Just took me an hour to complete what I needed to. Then I went to the adjacent Fitness Center and worked out there for the first time in almost 14 months. Since Hubs is getting vaccinations and boosters and a flu shot, and I wore 3 masks, one a KN95, and since it was so cold that I felt not only wouldn’t it be crowded, there would likely be few people there, I took a chance. It felt great working out on numerous machines again instead of just the NuStep that we have at home. In the intervening 14 months, they have replaced most of the machines with new upgraded equipment. The NuStep I used there was more advanced than ours and I felt it was a better workout. Also did leg press, bicep curl and treadmill. I used lower weights on the leg press and bicep curl and didn’t do as many reps or sets as I used to. I used a lower speed on the treadmill, just 3 mph rather than 4 mph. Will have to work back up. Important that I do so as my sis and I are going on a Wildflower Pilgrimage in SE Ohio mid-April and I need to be in much better shape since I am currently quite out of shape. Then Hubs picked me up and we went and bought some knockwurst, and packs of potato/garlic/chive pierogi and sweet farmers cheese pierogi. There has been numerous cases of flooding across the country, WV near JtC, Kentucky, and here in Detroit a major water main burst, also a secondary line and flooded numerous homes, 398 at last count. Rescuers evacuated numerous adults, children and pets by rafts through icy waters. Some of the animals rescued were 12 dogs, a pigeon, a chicken and a rabbit. So our US rep posted a call for help in the form of food and clothing to be dropped off at a local community center. I generally donate food at church on the 1st Sunday of the month which gets taken to a food pantry. Today we took the packages of pasta, jars of sauce and cans of soup that I had accumulated this month and dropped them off at the community center. It was near the Shoppe where we get the knockwurst and also near our favorite upscale Italian restaurant so after dropping off the food, we went to Roman Village. Since Hubs transplant, we go middle of afternoon and sit in a booth in the far corner of the bar rather than the restaurant since many times we’ll be the only people or there might be a very few others. So, the waiter who services that area has apparently gotten to know us because he said “and will you be having the canneloni today” to me; to which I said, yes, of course. It’s my favorite. And their bread, straight out of the oven, dipped in olive oil and parm cheese is so good. Had that with my salad with house dressing. Then my dinner came. YUMMMMMMM! Oh, it tasted heavenly today! Hubs had chicken pastina soup and a Village panini. We brought half of the food home so leftovers tomorrow. Hubs had bought some paczki earlier in the day so I had one for dessert. My Spartans were victorious over the Boilermakers yesterday 75-66. Tonight the women Spartans play UCLA out in CA. Not on until 9:30. Hope I can stay up and watch through the final buzzer. Somewhat tired after my workout this afternoon. My BF asked me to go with her to watch her trailer be demolished up at Camp tomorrow pursuant to a grant from the State. She gave them the title last May and the contractor is just now getting around to it. Her Dad had bought it in 1963 and took it out to Camp and it’s been there ever since. She’s had a good many years of fun out there and it’s no longer in the best repair. Then another friend asked me to go snowshoeing with her on Friday. Temp is supposed to be up to 30\* with low winds so should be fine and fun. It never got out of the teens today so I am looking forward to Friday. ---

Howdy Y’all! We went to the church doin’s and are now back in da cave. Sup was fried chikin, mac & cheese, sallit, rolls, and peach cobbler. Tres nummy! The rain stopped around three this afternoon but it is chilly out. Glad to be inside and warm. I shall see what’s up on teh intartoobz for a bit and then go beddy bye. ---

I haven’t had a day at home for an entire week. Harriets two sickest nights I slept over with her. The last 5 nights I go home at 9pm and come back at 7:30am. Good thing they are the second cutest grands in the world. ---

I wouldn’t use raw milk and I have a very healthy immune system, I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who was even slightly compromised. I’m fairly sure that if she gets a raw batch, she can pasteurize it herself. I know how to pasteurize A1 milk, it is a fairly simple process but takes some specialized equipment to bring the milk back down to temp. If you are handy, you could wrap hoses around the pot to allow you to run cold water and rapid cool the milk to avoid keeping it warm enough to alter the fat cells. How is she with goat milk? I can just imagine how horrible those folks are feeling now, they can’t get to work to make money and their insurance will fiddlefart around getting them a rental car long enough that they will lose their jobs and won’t be able to recover financially. We are OK here. We spent a lot of time looking at location and are in a fairly affluent neighborhood in a 500 year flood zone. Besides the boil water thing, there isn’t any sign of flooding here. Things are much different across the tracks, I’ve seen homes with water up to their windows. It would be much easier for folks to recover if FEMA was still a thing. And now I’m all grumpy again. So, does anyone with a sewing machine know how to do costuming? I’m wanting a Handmaiden outfit to wear to the capital but that is so far above my sewing abilities that I’m not even going to try. If anyone else is willing to give it a shot, I will happily pay for the materials and twenty bucks an hour for time. I’ve always used homogenized milk, whole fat. It works with most cheese making recipes nowadays cause most folks don’t have friends with cows. I fondly remember my folks having non-homogenized milk delivered to the front door. If I got outside first, I could carry the bottle in and then pour off the cream and drink it and then get scolded, LOL! ---

Sorry, SenWife is buried in work so I’m also busy taking care of things. I glance thought the thread, but unfortunately, I can’t keep up with everything. **SenGirl** is busy in Germany and apparently posting more updates to her Instagram feed (which she isn’t sharing with her parents) than to us. IOW, being a typical teenager. One thing that I’m proud of is the time I witnessed an accident where a truck hit a little girl who was crossing the street at a crosswalk. When I went over, the girl was deeply unconscious and not responsive, but still breathing. However, she quickly turned blue and with my basic first aid training, I knew to clear her airway. Lifting her tongue did the trick and she started breathing again. He mom came screaming and I was there with my finger in the girl’s mouth, keeping the tongue in place. Unfortunately, she died at the hospital, but at least she lived long enough to get her to the doctors. ---
