Home again! The engine performed like a champ - the temp hovered around 170 Ferrets instead of going above boiling, so yay! But a weird problem surfaced that **FCD** thinks he might have a solution for. The wheel wanted to go left and it took a lot of pressure to keep the boat going forward. Also, the autopilot wasn’t working. Putting those two together, he thinks maybe the hydraulic cylinder on the autopilot was trying to make us turn left. But that’s a problem for another day. We went up the Patuxent a ways and Roxy asked if they could swim off the back, so we went into a sheltered area and tied a couple of floating cushions to the boat for the kids. Daughter jumped in. The kids sat there. Then Tobias got off the swim platform and back on the boat. When Daughter tired to come back aboard, we learned that the platform as a good ways higher than the side of a pool from the water. So after several different attempts, I suggested they use the little “crane” that was set up to get the dinghy in and out of the water. And it worked. We probably should have taken the swim ladder with us… Yeah, we forgot it. We then heading back towards the base and watched part of the airshow. Once the French military team was done, we headed back to the marina. The grands wanted to go swimming and we wanted to come home. So that’s what we all did. I’ve got the ice maker running and I declared supper would be forage. I watered my cukes (even tho I did them this morning) as well as the planters out front. I think I’ve earned some chill time. Dunno why going out on the boat was so exhausting, but I’m whipped! Recliner beckons!!! ---

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated (me twice) and then et stoner food for lunch. Priest’s one year old son has started to walk and it is so stinkin’ keeeyooote to watch! He walks around and grins the whole time. He is so proud of himself! That made my day to watch him. Nappage was achieved as well as day drinkin’. Now it’s time to watch more of _Washington_ on Netflix. **Coppertone** I am usually less heathen than I could be. I figure church helps. I agree about Bible study/Sunday skool. When I was sixteen my 'rents told me I didn’t have to do SS anymore, but church was expected. The church part I was cool with. I gladly skipped out on the other. **BooFae** look at it this way, 'im indoors was sweet to be so worried about Cherry who had found herself a quiet and lovely place to snooze. **Cookie** sorry you didn’t get a visit on Father’s Day. **Taters** that sounds nummy! And the local crime stats indicate they get onto people who are mowing outside the allowed hours, too. Good job on the move, **Oopsie**! That… is a classic look, **Van Gogh**. Great news she’s home and that you’ve corralled her again. * * * Last mild day today for a week. We started at a glorious 46 ferrets, now at 76 and climbing to 82. My dear old (94!) Dad lives far away, so I spent a good chunk of the morning composing a loving email to him. He doesn’t want presents, he can’t hear me when we try to talk on the phone, so an email it is. I hope to go visit again in a few months. Meantime, I honor him by making his favorite barbecued country style pork ribs for dinner tonight. The ribs marinate overnight in brown sugar and garlic powder, then are smoked on the grill for awhile. I used to leave them for a couple more hours on the grill but the sugar wants to burn, so now I take them off after the smoking period and bake them in a slow oven instead. Then add favorite barbecue sauce and… mmmm! I think there will also be a green salad and beer tonight. Today would have been my beloved late husband’s 74th birthday, and it’s also the summer Solstice. I love the longest day, but losing daylight always feels like exactly what it is: A loss. In no time, the leaves will fall, the deciduous plants will die back and the days will turn dark again in no time. Kind of a melancholhappy feeling. Ollie is chonking away on his daily Kong treat and other than working the grill, I’m done with productivity today. Such as it was. 😃 Hope those who celebrate all have a memorable, fine Father’s Day and to every Mumper, have a lovely Solstice! ---

Tomorrow it will be 5 weeks since my cataract removal. Since stopping the drops a few days ago my eye is dryish and uncomfy. Artificial tears help a little. Gonna ask dr tomorrow. Had an egg roll and burrito for supper. ---

Evening all. Been nearly 48 hours out of touch so I’ll try to sum things up and leave my conversations with all y’all for the next MMP, since I’m over 100 messages behind. Short and sweet, had some fun, had some drama, and probably added 5lbs to my waist (they do feed us volunteers pretty well). Anyway, after refereeing 3 game on Friday, I had none scheduled for Saturday, so it was mostly sitting around the building we were working out of (we called it Soccer Central) helping where I could and taking walks around the fields every hour just to do something. The folks actually running the thing finally had me take a golf cart (we rent 4-5 of them to get around the fields fast) and go pick up folks who were parking about 2 blocks away because the lots next to the fields were overflowing…so I got a 3-minute teaching session in driving golf carts and was sent on my way…and damn, that was fun! Talking with folks, pulling up next to cars that were parking, taking folks back down to their cars…I was _doing something_ and helping out and that made me feel real good. Until… Couple of 60±something ladies (one with a cane, forgot to ask if her name was Jane) asked for a ride over to a field nearby and I was happy to do so. They got on the back bench (it was a small golf cart with one front seat and one on the back of the cart), I told them to hold on, and the cart jumped forward (if you’ve never driven one, the brake comes off when you press the gas but then it takes a little bit to actually start moving) kinda like when you let out a clutch (for us old folks). Next I heard was some bumps and a cry to “stop” and yep, both ladies had fallen off the cart! The one with the cane was fine, but the other had the wind knocked out of her and was lying on her back on the ground. Right about then I almost froze, so scared that someone I was doing good for had been hurt by my actions. Fortunately, one of the organizers was there, he got things settled and called for a Medic (we had a couple on-site), and after a couple of minutes the lady was able to get up and walked to the field apparently no worse for wear. Needless to say I apologized profusely and was shaken up enough that I retired from cart driving for the rest of the day. So that made Saturday interesting… Sunday I was selected to be Assistant Ref for a semi-final game at 8:30am so of course it had it’s share of drama, too, with a team getting a penalty kick to tie it (the Center Ref made a error in applying the rules, I mentioned it to him before the kick was taken but he went with his interpretation (his call). The team converted to tie and went on to win the game in overtime. The losing coach was more gracious than I would have been but if he had filed a Protest, it might have reversed the game and taken him to the Championship–but I guess he didn’t. So some drama there. Finally finished after watching a couple of final games and helping close up shop, got home about 3pm and while the lawn could probably stand mowage, it will wait for a couple of days as I’m planning to be a homebody for a bit. Like I said, over 100 messages have been looked at but I have not the inclination to comment on them, so yays. boos, hugs, tears and crossed appendages whenever and wherever needed. I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I took out the trash and recycling, and filled the vermin feeder. I napped. I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, poke loin, salad and baked **N.O.T.**. I’m watching a cat documentary on Netflix. Wow, **Van Go** , I’m so glad Ms Peach is home safe and agree that she needs to be on a short leash until you know you can trust her. At least I managed to follow it the first time and it came out well. Thank you for that, I always worry that I’ve missed a step because I’m so bad at proper online communication. So today was long for me, this morning I went to the Capital and waved my sign around as well as telling the other “regulars” that I would be out of service for a while. I do feel guilty about that, folks kinda depend on me being there. I did leave all of the extra signs with a lady I see almost every week, we’ve noticed that if we offer people signs, they will often stand with us and wave their sign around too. One person showed up with a big pic of that dead baby duck in the once beautiful reflecting pool. Disturbing, but that’s what they were upset about, with very good cause. After about four hours I went to Huntington and met up with Hubs for lunch and the art museum. The museum was very nice and had a very large display of WV glass which I enjoyed. There were guns which Hubs of course enjoyed and their conservatory was just amazing. They had a small rain forest surrounding a small pond and was just so peaceful and quiet that I felt like just spending the day right there. Admission was five bucks each but we got in free because we are military vets. That meant we felt obligated to drop money in the donation box, LOL! Charter membership is 25 bucks a year and I might do that if Hubs continues going to the VA hospital every other month. I can drop him off and then spend a peaceful hour listening to the frogs and enjoying the plants. They had a BIG pitcher plant, the carnivorous flowers were six and eight inches long, I had NO idea they got that big. When I pointed it out, Hubs had to go and stick his nose over one of the flowers and take a big sniff. I don’t think he’ll do _that_ again! **BBBoo** thanks so much for suggesting big ice packs, they are really helping in the evenings. I’ll bet I wouldn’t hurt so much if I didn’t spend so much time stitching during the day, but whatcha gonna do? ---

Dooooooo ittttttt! * * * Short shift was, well, short … other than scooping up **SometimesBitchyTeen** on the way in AND I volunteered to give her a ride back home since we were both sprung at the same time … AND I had to clean a fryer 1st before we could leave. (Not my favorite chore by a long shot.) Well, okay, since it’s Father’s Day, we started the day SUH-LAMMMED … hol(e)y socks, Batman! I wound up setting up at least 4 orders of ribs alone, and don’t even talk to me about the endless orders for damn fried mushrooms!! But I treated myself to guac’n’chips from the Taco Place across the street, and I’m home in plenty of time to let Monks have some outside time before dark, and in a bit imma call my dad & say nice, pleasant, daughter-y things. But not quite yet. ---

Mrs. L.A. had ‘popcorn chicken’ on Date Night (Thursday). Lightly coated, not like what you’d get at KFC. Too spicy for her, so she said I could have her leftovers. I had assumed that’s what she would have for dinner tonight, and I would have a sausage from the BIBIR bin. She wanted a sausage, so that’s what we both had. I split them and cooked them in a frying pan. I’d bought some Lucerne small-curd cottage cheese the other day, so we had some of that too. I like Lucerne. Not quite as good as Knudsen in the yellow container that I remember from L.A., but almost. I’d had a SPAM®, bell pepper, onion, and cheese omelette for breakfast today, so I have some sliced SPAM® in the fridge. That’s what I’ll make my sandwich from for irk tomorrow. My day was busy again. Up at 7am to cut up carrots, celery, broccoli and cauliflower into bite-sized, red, yellow and orange bell peppers into strips, made several radish rosettes, peeled then used fork to pull along sides of cuke then sliced. Then blanched the broccoli and cauliflower. All this plus grape tomatoes for a crudite tray for the coffee hour after the service at daughter’s church; had ranch dressing on side. The bishop was presiding today. Swampy, you may recall that daughter is also an 'piscopalian. The bishop confirmed one gent and welcomed/recognized two ladies as members of the one holy catholic and apostolic Church and received them into fellowship of this Communion. Then a blessing was given for 2 gents on their 10th anniversary. The coffee hour was outstanding. I helped set up and the food that was brought was of great variety and so very good. Afterward we went to daughter’s house. Hubs and I changed into casual duds then I took Bella for a walk. I made sure to take a disposal bag with me that was filled within a block. After half a mile, we came to a park where I disposed of the waste. Continued our walk and after another half mile Bella relieved herself of more solid waste. I’d only taken one bag and the waste bag holder on the leash was empty. So I had to call and ask one of them to bring a bag to me. Luckily we were only 2 blocks from her house. We lounged in the backyard for awhile then I got a little overheated so went inside to lay on the couch. Daughter’s partner had made a big set of dice for Yardzee. So the 3 of them played that while I fell asleep inside. But then I woke up coughing with acid reflux coating my trachea and barely up toward my throat. I HATE that! Texted each of them for help. Finally daughter’s partner came in and gave me some calcium carbonate chews and a pepcid. I also drank a glass of milk to coat the burning and then glass of water. Dinner was cheeseburgers grilled with condiments of lettuce, tomato and avocado. We also had leftover crudites with it. I had the most scrumptious brownie that I poached from the coffee hour for dessert. Wishing all MMP Dad’s and those serving in the capacity a Happy Father’s Day. God Bless. ---

OMGOMGOMG, Harry and I have been sniped. An out of state buyer swooped in and bought the trailer we were talking about. When we looked the transaction up, we learned that it was his brother in Florida! Harry is beside himself and I just can’t stop laughing. The brothers own most of the homes in the neighborhood, this one would have given Harry more land titles than brother in Florida but still fewer than blind brother. The outrage is hysterical, I know I’m going to hell for enjoying this so much. Also, **shoe** , while I was at the dispensary getting post-surgery supplies, I bought a disposable vape that was shaped like a **[nasal stick](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0881D53VQ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1)**. Very bad idea, once stoned, they are very easy to mix up and my nose is still burning. ---
