Plus I trained all the altar servers for him for years and he knew I could always wander into the pews and find him a trained, winsome child to serve on short notice. Often it was my daughter or one of my nieces, which is exactly what got me damned to hell eternal back home. It was no secret in that diocese that I’d been excommunicated in my home diocese. That actually was hugely in my favor. My home diocese is hands down the most backwards reactionary diocese in America. That a sister-in-law was a nun in this new diocese and my beloved father-in-law of the same last name was the first layman in the Archdiocese to be ordained a deacon didn’t hurt. ---

He was tired and stressed and in a rush. Doesn’t matter, he’s going to really be stressed and rushing trying to find hardware on the Fourth. ---

Thanks, **pilot** and **red**. I have a feeling the woman is deceased, but I’m really not sure. I saw that the EMT’s and the husband were walking from the apartment to the rig, so if the Mrs. was on board, she must have been loaded earlier, and I don’t think they would have loaded and left her if she were still alive. I hope I’m wrong. My only interaction with this couple was shortly after they moved in. They were both outside and introduced themselves as I passed. The woman said something about the neighbors bringing cookies to new tenants in their last complex, so I baked cookies and brought them down the next day. When I knocked, the husband opened the door about 4 inches and peered out. (There IS a peep hole.) I said I’d brought cookies, and he opened the door about a foot and reached out, which is when I realized _He. Was. Nekkid_. Um, maybe put on a robe or towel, or, or, or perhaps don’t answer the door? Shortly after that, they put a polyresin turtle by their door…a creepy, standing-on-its-back-legs polyresin turtle with reflective glass eyes. Every dog in the complex growls at it. So they’re weird, but I still hope they’re both OK. My son called because it’s Sunday. So excited that I get to see him and the puppers in 3 days! Waiting for his sister to call. JtC, I’m SO glad your hubs got home safe and sound and that you had a lively homecoming celebration! Evening all. We’re approaching Anniston, AL and should be in Atlanta by 11pm Eastern Time. Don’t know if I’ll still be awake by then or not, we’ll have to see how it goes. Dinner was Chicken Parmesan with Linguine, not too bad. They are still showing us on-time for Washington, but’ll I’ll see what it says when I get up tomorrow. The car conductor will be around in about a half-hour to make up my bed, so that will help convince me to turn in early (up at 5:30am today). **FCM** , will be in DC on 24-25-26 June and then head for Chicago on the 27th. Am not getting a rental car, will rely on the Metro (my hotel is literally on top of a station). Didn’t expect to see y’all this time, what with everything going on the last thing you need is a relative stranger (and a complete one to your family) showing up, Catch you the next time. **red** , hope Nelson’s appetite revives. **Sari** , feel better soon. I watch a You Tube channel by Noel Phillips, an English guy who reports on his flights all over the world, sometimes with trains and buses included. **JtC** , from being happy to see your husband again to contemplating homicide…I see you have had a long marriage… OK, time to get the bed made up, should be in the Eastern Time Zone in the next 15 minutes or so. I hope I’m wrong At least where I’ve lived, EMTs don’t transport the dead. Now they might transport somebody who’s probably dead or at least near-term doomed, but if so they’ll be doing their full CPR and going with full lights and sirens until an MD at the hospital sees the patient with their own eyes, declares the EMT’s efforts futile and gives them clearance to quit, then declares the patient deceased once breathing & pulse stop for good. That’s how my Mom’s last few minutes went. IMO … If neighbor lady was in the van, she was plenty alive and (given the no lights and siren) in no immediate danger. If she wasn’t in the van because she was already long since cold and stiff, there’s no good reason for them to transport the husband unless he was so shook up as to be a patient himself. They’d be real unlikely to leave a dead body alone in there without a cop or other emergency worker present. They’ve each been every brand of midrange-minus hotel you can imagine over the years. Sheraton? Check. Holiday Inn? Check. etc. Right behind them all is NJ’s Northern State Prison. Staying at one of the prison-adjacent hotels is simply a rite of passage in the airline industry. But unlike most rites of passage, this one seems to need to be renewed every few months for a whole career. And much like being in jail yourself, you can’t leave the grounds of the hotel. A) there’s nothing around there, and B) the area is sketchy as fuck and has been since forever. Whatever is not a prison is a rail yard or a freeway. Hooray for **Metalmouse** ’s first day on the rails. _Now_ it’s bedtime here. Cheers all. ---

SWMBO liked the pizza. She had _three_ slices! I had two so Mi Esposa has one more slice in the fridge. Just a ‘plain’ pizza - pepperonti & olive – but she liked it enough to have an extra slice. That makes me happy. I had my two, snd that’s enough for me. ---

Just got off the phone with an old friend who is a Trump Cultist. God, how can people be so blind? I guess fascism is okay, as long as gas is cheap.
