I got the StinkPad connected to the home network. The network it found is one with an older password. Anyway, the irk computer is functional. Still having issues with Easytrieve. IT has taken control, and is irking on it. I still have it on my desktop down at the orifice, so I can use it from my Mac. We’ve been notified that the orifice will close at 14:00 on Wednesday. ---

The local high school makes, plates (puts in containers) and hands out turkey meals to all and sundry. This has been going on for many years and the seniors all want to give out more meals than last year’ class did. WV loses population every year, the kids move away for better opportunities and us old folks keep dying. Harry took me to school and told me that it was my duty as a member of the community to not only take two containers for us, but to be sure to write a letter to the school AND to use my new-fangled google thing to type a nice review at the school webpage AND write a letter to the editor praising all of the good people who made this happened. I’m supposed to use all of those fancy words I drop like pennies. He also told me that I should make a batch of tea cakes that he would personally deliver to the school later. Much laughter happened after the last one, but I can take a hint! So, Harry got two containers, we got two containers, Harry got three containers for the new neighbors and I got five for our housekeeper. I wanted to give someone, anyone some money but nobody wanted to take my cash. Our housekeeper is a single dad, raising three young girls on his own. I wasn’t sure if there was someone else sitting at his table, but I also figured that food wouldn’t go wasted in his home which is why I asked for five boxes, not four. He was very happy that I did it, he had had such a crappy day that he had to reschedule us for tomorrow and being able to just pick up dinner that he didn’t have to think about made him very happy. Like Hubs, the guy who was going to come and hang our ceiling fans tomorrow also didn’t realize that this was Thanksgiving week and had to reschedule. I kinda knew that was going to happen and its all good. ---

And a good early evening to all. Managed to get my swimming in but it wasn’t easy, forgot to put the trunks in my gym bag, so I thought, 'no problem, I brought the gym stuff so I’ll just do my gym workout…except I had left my gym shorts at home (Dumbth!!). So went back and got the swimwear and managed 3,200 yards which is a personal best, and my weight is only 202.8lbs, so all that working out is still paying off. Will go forth and procure sustenance in a little bit and them maybe back to the gym for pedaling while watching the tackleball game on the TV screens. **Hippie** , neat picture, you are truly a studly man… Only thing I stick on my ears these days is my hearing aids. Our feline overlords will be most pleased with this week’s offerings… **FCM** , it does sound like MIL’s systems are shutting down, like you I hope it doesn’t happen when the kids are there. **knotty** (well, if you intend to stick around, we gotta call ya something), I visit Elkhart most days thanks to the Virtual Railfan camera at the AMTRAK station. **flyboy** , can someone check out Mrs. L.A.'s phone, like you I’d be worried about contamination. **Pilot** , nice of you to stop by. I see you on the Aviation threads and hope all is well. **JtC** , you do know that your my hero(ine). Lots of folks wouldn’t have thought about their housekeeper, especially one that is pretty new to you folks. OK, nearly 6pm so the rush hour traffic should be manageable, so time to eat! BP check was great, according to the nice tech. Hunting and slaying groceries, not so much. Took four stores to find the Zero Sugar A&W root beer we wanted, and that fourth store (Winco) was a zoo. If it was this bad today, I do not want to be anywhere near there on Wednesday! Did manage to obtain everything on the shopping list, plus the seemingly inevitable extras here and there. The car decided we did not need the HVAC fan running, which was actually a problem because I didn’t have front windshield defrost. Must make sure DH addresses this tomorrow. ---

In my neighborhood I can tell by: if they arrive in an official USPS vehicle, with the steering wheel on the right hand (‘passenger’) side and the slider exit door open, they’re USPS. A big leather or heavy canvas bag with the logo hanging their shoulder can be the other clue if you are on a walking route. Uniform pants or shorts (that dusty blue) is another giveaway. Contract folks can show up in anything-broken down rattletrap Pinto hatchback, their great aunt’s Rambler station wagon, a Rent-A-Wreck rental. Usually they are wearing pants of some kind, often their foot coverings match. Socks not so much. Of course you don’t have to be limited to the $20 limit with the USPS guy. You give him whatever one week and then next week hubs signs a card with another $20 and who’s to say one or both of you didn’t forget? ---

Everything I do is very self serving. I spent an hour making Harry and the high skol kids happy, Hubs was ready to pre-game turkey day and our housekeeper cleans Hubs’ terlit. Back in AZ, the postmaster was very clear that the contract workers were not her responsibility and were not USPS employees. But you are right. Harry will know. Harry pretends we are in Green Acres and he’s the ignorant hillbilly while I’m the big city girl and we play those roles until we have real things to say. He is the one who not only built the SFS nesting boxes, he’s the one who put the game cams inside and showed everyone in the neighborhood how to access them on their smart phones.
