Sorta sore this morning so will see how much ambition I have left. Kitchen still needs my attention. 79F now and heading to 90F so back to summer in North Ali-bama. I was in 5th grade when Kennedy was shot, remember my Mom picking my brother and I up and she was crying because of it. Challenger I was at work when we got the word, this was before instant-news on your computer so went back and forth to a TV in the breakroom. Was working in Abu Dhabi (+9/10 hours) when 9-11 occurred, was home after work and resting when my work colleague (Eddie) called and said a plane had hit the Twin Towers. Thought it was an accident with a private plane so didnā€™t turn th TV on immediately, when I did the second tower had been hit so didnā€™t move for the next 6 hours. And now Iā€™m sufficiently melancholy, so best clean the kitchen up while I can. Take care all. ---

The strange places my brain goes - I was thinking about the little map I drew upthread and realized that the only straight, flat road is the bit from our house up to the next road. All the rest have curves and slopes. Walking the ā€œrectangleā€ is actually a bit of a workout - I think there are several rises and falls, the greatest of which is about 80ā€™ from top to bottom. Not that anyone cares. **FCD** came home, grabbed a couple of sheets of aluminum, and headed back to the marina to expedite the removal of the travelift to solid ground. Theyā€™ve been farting around with it for the better part of 2 days and he saw the answer right off. So off he goes. Itā€™s not just the goodness of his heart - they canā€™t start on our boat till they get that beastie moved! šŸ˜‰ The clock (and my stomach) tells me itā€™s lunch time. So I shall lunch. ---

So I was orginally loading Middle Green, except they forgot J wasnā€™t there, so I got pulled and sent to clerk the 100 and 200 Slide. Which went fairly well. We took **FCD** ā€™s biggest shorts to the thrift store and had no luck getting him more jeans, so I broke down and ordered a couple pairs. My cheap side hated having to do that because at the rate heā€™s losing, heā€™ll only get 2 or 3 months at most. More if heā€™d let me take them in, but thatā€™s a battle I canā€™t win. However, heā€™s happy with $20 wranglers from WalMart, so itā€™s not too hard to take. And theyā€™ll be delivered tomorrow. Theoretically. Last load is finally in the washer. Back to _Lynley_ and crocheting. ---

Me and a bunch of friends were hanging out in our usual spot when our science teacher, also our next class came and had us all come to the classroom to watch. Thank you Mr. Berthiaume. 9/11 I was standing on a chair painting the transom window of a set at Cornellā€™s theater. Canā€™t remember the play. I was so glad Bob Edwards stayed on NPR talking, he was a comforting voice on a terrible day. Eventually, like 11:00, the whole tech dept went across the street to sit at our bar to be able to see it on TV. And have a few beers and speculate. I knew it was Osama then. Iā€™m going to get some more side-eye from Ms Peach tomorrow. I bought some chicken wire to close off the rest of the fence so she canā€™t get out. Installing it will be a right PITA this time of year, since there are so many vines and crap growing through the fence. Remind me to put on DEET before going out there. First (this) doggie horking. She found the foam strip that helps seal the AC unit and promptly shredded it. Some must have gone inside too. Promptly breakfast back on the kitchen floor. Now I gotta prep myself for going to a thing. The director of our museum has a BBQ every year and itā€™s apparently a **big deal.** So I need to get ready to do that. ---
