The situation seems to have improved since I last checked so many years ago. I had a girlfriend that used to ask me to wear her dead father’s clothes, _and_ his old cologne. If that doesn’t peg your creep-o-meter, it’s broken. I don’t mind the smell of Old Spice, but I wouldn’t wear it. I kind of understand how it continues to sell - it’s a pleasant scent. Somebody explain how Aqua Velva continues to appear on the shelves - it can’t _all_ be purchased for internal use, can it? ---

When I graduated from high school in 1984 Old Spice had a reputation as being really unhip (I think I remember comedy sketches about the brand), so it’s amazing to see how the manufacturer has managed to revive it and actually sell it to young men. ---

Count me as being amazed as well. See, the impression I’ve had is that old guys wear Old Spice. So if a guy goes out with Old Spice, perhaps looking for a Sweet Young Thing, then it’s creepy. If a SWT _likes_ it, then it has the implication that she wants to sleep with her daddy. Which is also creepy. (Not to offend the surprising number of Old Spice wearers in this thread. It’s just the impression I had.) And there have been a couple of references here about guys half my age wearing it? It’s as if my 1980s impressions might not exist for the younger generation. Interesting. I grew up watching the commercials in the '70s. I still remember the music. ---

My father used to use Old Spice, and I associate the smell with him. To give you an idea of how frequently I use cologne: Someone gave me a bottle of Armani in the late '80s, and I still have about half the bottle. ---

So because of this thread I broke out the Old Spice over the weekend and surprisingly…my girlfriend hates it. She says it smells so bad that it was giving her a headache and she made me go change my clothes! :eek: I still like it though… ---

I am going to sniff some Old Spice the next time I’m at London Drugs. Whatever happened to English Leather? My first serious boyfriend wore it. I surrendered my virginity to him, and Lo! It Was Good. I could become quite swoony and compliant just getting a whiff of English Leather. I will have to sniff that, too. My husband doesn’t wear cologne of any sort, so the best I ever get is when he tries a new antiperspirant brand. ☹ ---
