Good morning! Every time I start writing, another fire needs to be put out. **Shoe’s** talk of chicken salad made me want tunafish for lunch, so I made me some tuna fish. I used to give the apple scraps to the late rabbit, but he’s not with us any more. That made me tear up. Yesterday’s slacking wound up _not_ biting me in the ass! Woo hoo! The job fair was fine, but tiring. Almost 30 other hiring managers were there, but I was the only one looking for project managers: I wound up talking for 70 minutes straight. Then I was finally able to take advantage of the coffee station (with baristas) our recruiters had arranged for, and got an iced green tea for my throat. Most of the people I met weren’t good fits for one reason or another, but I do have a few names to follow up on. Not today, though: I’m focused on the delivery that’s due by COB. Our tech editor is currently doing his thing (hence having time to post), but as soon as he’s done I’ll be splitting up the presentation and uploading a bunch of separate files. This morning I also volunteered to take the lead on drafting a program-level risk, so when I’m not working on the delivery I’ll be working on that. I’m hoping that the delivery stuff goes smoothly and I’ll be able to knock off for the day at around 4:30. 🤞 My HOA is replacing our mailbox clusters\[1\]: they gave out some new keys at the “homeowners only” annual meeting a week ago, and finally announced that the rest of us can pick ours up from 11:00-1:00 on Monday, 1:00-3:00 on Tuesday, or 3:00-5:00 on Wednesday. The new mailboxes get installed on Thursday. The Monday window is the only option for me, but it’s not ideal: it’s a federal holiday for some but not for me, _and_ I need to be in the office (which is too far away to simply run home during lunch). Now I’ll be going in late, and will need to reschedule a meeting. Anyway, tenants have to bring their lease _and_ written authorization from their homeowner(s); I just sent an email to my property manager asking for the latter. In other news, on the 23rd I’ll be getting a liver ultrasound. Wheeee. My liver enzymes have been moderately elevated twice in a row (the tests were three months apart) and are climbing; I had a telemed appointment with my primary care doc this morning. The problem _might_ be my cholesterol medication, so I’m also going to stop taking that for three months and get bloodwork done again: if my liver numbers come down, she’ll put me on a different statin. The ultrasound is to check for fatty liver (but…but…I’ve lost 30+ pounds in the last nine months! 🤣). Anyway, if the ultrasound results are weird and/or the numbers _don’t_ come down in January, I’ll go see a hepatologist. It figures: my weight, blood pressure, A1C, and cholesterol are finally all great, and now my liver is doing its best alcoholic impression! > [@purplehorseshoe](#): > > I hope you enjoy it! Howdy Y’all! I did the church thangs and then settled in da cave. It’s been rainin’ since around eleven a.m. Not a hard rain, but steady nontheless. We’re promised heavier rains and winds over night and tomorrow. We napped, day drank, and did an early sup/late lunch. Now 'tis time for stoopid teevee and popcorn, or ice cream, or both. We are willy-nilly rebels like that! **MOOOOOOM** safe travels! **Lily** has S-cat let you out of her sight yet? **nuts** have fun with your new found robin friend. **JtC** I understand the grr about the chestnut grove. **Taters** hope Pumpkin Seed shows up again soonest. **MetalMouse** I considered mowage yestiddy, but RDOS sloth took hold and I soon recovered. **WetOne** bein’ hunkered down with snacks is wise. Also, yep, 'twill be a cat 3 'cane. **Mollie** I am also a forgotten, forlorn, and unloved middle child. Don’t tell me I **CAN’T** do or have sump’n. Ms Peach discovered a new way out of the yard. 😠 I’ll need to deal with that tomorrow, gotta get some supplies. She almost got hit by a big truck and a small car. Her thing when she gets out is to pace about 8’ away from me, if I take a step forward, it’s sprinting. Fortunately I found a neighbor with a fenced in garden, she followed me in, I shut the gate, and off back home. Fun way to start time off. ---

Well they cancelled soccer for tomorrow already so I guess we’re going to get wet (unless the Weather Wizards decided to play a little joke). At the gym now and soon will be heading home where it looks like I’ll be for awhile. Did make it to the Mart of Wal and have some new bathroom rugs so now I will be motivated to give the floors a good cleaning. And now back on the treadmill for set #4 (22 minutes at 3.6mph and 11 degrees elevation) and that should finish the planned sweatage. Be back in discussion mode once I’m home. ---

it was a mess. There was a major belt overload somewhere, someone ran Brown belt, which resulted in multiple non Brown Belt package crushed, so I had to go and retrieve them, there was drama between a Blueberry on the 200 Table, the PT Sup there, and Screaming O. Things went slow due to all the Blueberries, so I got slammed at the end of the sort(not including the 66 Sumitomo boxes that came to the 100 Slide, which necessitated the Air Route driver backing his package car up to the Slide, so I didn’t see the car of stuff someone ding dong dashed, so Screaming O had apoplexy because of the cart, the cart of stuff to be carted around to the package car for Wearcheck, and the 10(ten) missorts and clerked packages to run. Also, because the 200 table was so backed up, they didn’t get to the smalls bags and totes till the end, so I was deluged with empties, along with the clerk stuff. Also, both terminals at the 300 Slide were down for an hour, and J had the train and get help from the one dude from Smalls [Narrator]He was not, in fact helpful[/Narrator], so she didn’t get to help me till 11:30, and our Shop Steward who had been helping this week didn’t(not sure if he was tied up with union stuff, or just said “Fuck it!”, and went home and got blind drunk). So I got out of work at 2:00p.m., after having gone in at 0400. Also: Things must have gone heinously bad building wide, because I heard The Supreme Shouting Officer say "Do no send anybody(management) home. Also also: One of maintenance techs is on vacation this week, and they transferred the other one to Garner, so _we have no maintenance personnel on site_. Also3: They are doing training for seasonal clerks(and us regular ones) next Thursday. I heard about it from J, not from my chain of command. She only found out in passing. And they are doing it in the Mez, where we used to clerk stuff, but that has been shut down and cannibalized for the last 4 months. 🤔 So, I got home so late, I’m just staying up for a bit, doing laundry, having dinner(Old Bay fish stew) and a Boulevardier, then sleeping till morning get up time. Watching live feed of the hurricane landing. Philly starting seeing cloud cover from isaias this afternoon. What they call “milk” sky. Landfall is around 9pm. There is a building crane in Destin that is swinging like a weather vane. The storm chasers are fascinated by it. Waffle houses are closing. ---

We pulled into the garage just a few minutes before 7. When I carried my bag into the bedroom, Alexa reminded me to take my meds (which happens at 7.) We ordered and picked up Chinese on the way home, so I’ve stuffed my face with shrimp and broccoli. I wanted/NEEDED veggies. Aunt B wasn’t too big on them. We had salad once and cabbage once. Anyway, long-ass drive. There was an accident on the DC beltway that backed things up on to I270. Then traffic choked up for a couple of miles on route 5. From door to door, it was 12.5 hours, and I’m pretty sure less than an hour of it was for gas/food/potty stops. I shall shower shortly and veg for the rest of the night. **FCD** will fetch Otis in the morning and I’ll attack the laundry. I may share some “highlights” of our visit, or I’ll just let it go. At the moment, I’m to cranky too think kindly of much of anything. ---

Evening all. Weather is not here yet but the skies (before sunset) looked ominous enough and the weather radar shows the rain and storm is about 60 miles south of me and heading this way. I’m in and battened down, my only worry is my back fence, I had planned to replace it this spring but it’s weak in a couple places and I just hope it stands up to whatever is coming. Definitely cooling down, 74F now and we’ll get below 60F sometime tonight. Now to catch up with the day’s doings… **JtC** , could be worse, it could be the 1870’s-1890’s and they would send the Pinkertons to take care of any protests in W. VA… **wet one** , if sister is on the coast, she might have encountered a Cat 3 hurricane, which is a slightly bit more serious than a tropical storm. Hope she is OK. Enjoy watching the Weather Channel on your new TV. **Mollie** , never dyed my hair, but my U7 soccer team will get to paint my beard in a couple of weeks… Storm isn’t here yet, but it’s closing in. There is also a frozen custard stand. Normally the flavors are vanilla, chocolate and both swirled. Today there were also some special flavors: green apple, caramel, pumpkin and cheesecake. Hubs had a cone of caramel, I had a combo of caramel and pumpkin, tasty. Dinner was leftover chicken, fettucini alfredo and broccoli and some semi-dry white wine. ---
