Consarn it, I was SURE I posted this yesterday evening! Well, here’s yesterday’s post, then I’ll post today’s separately. Today [Thursday] was a trying but rewarding day. I had a check-up with the corneal specialist this morning. The trying part was that after some tests, they forgot about me, so I sat in the lobby for a very long time. The rewarding part was that the woman who checked me in found me and said that in looking at my account, she saw that the clinic had screwed up a year ago, and I have a nice, fat check coming to me. 🙂 And the doc said everything looks great. I’m SO happy I can see! Eventually, I’m going to need another transplant in the right eye, but I’m not going to worry about an eventuality, so yay, cornea! I walked 6.5 miles. The trying part: my knee hurt. Rewarding: but it stayed strong, so yay, me. Did I mention my dryer conked out yesterday? The trying bit: I put in a maintenance request, but he hadn’t shown up by 2:00, so I went to the office. “Maybe tomorrow,” they said. I said my clothes lay a-mouldering in the dryer, so they got the fellow over here, and my clothes are drying as I type this. Yay, Scott! And this might brighten your day…my niece’s son, age 8, made her a sweet card for Mother’s Day, and in it he also thanked his dad because, “If he didn’t pick you, you wouldn’t be my mom.” Hopefully he gives her some credit on the Father’s Day card he makes. I’m fine with talking on the phone and will volunteer to take all incoming calls. Of course, I might flirt with a service provider and say yes, you WOULD like to extend your car’s warranty, but I’d be cheap at twice the price, since 2 x 0=0. Potatoes and eggs this morning, less than satisfactory. Here’s why: my wife is a sucker for prepackaged food products. She sees something on a shelf and wants to try it. They are all, almost without fail, nearly inedible, but still, much like Hillary, she persists. This time it was pre-shredded hash brown potatoes. Technically they were potatoes, but a more tasteless spud I have never had. Whatever they added to them to “preserve freshness” caused them to behave oddly when frying. Anyway, live and learn (again). Exercised, Wordled and crossworded. Supposed to hit mid-80s today, so the AC is on to pre-cool the hizzle. Happy to see that the Timberwolves pulled their chestnuts out of the fire to tie up the series. Final game is on Sunday. That’s it for me; Cookie out. ---

Panamanian Vince didn’t come in, so I had Slothman \< uncredited extra \> helping in the dumping loft. Which made for a long day. Longer, because Senior Clerk wasn’t in, so I had to help with retapes. Half of which didn’t need re taping at all. Another week gone by in the blink of an eye! **Coppertone** , I’m glad you got some help with household supplies. TP and cleaning supplies have gotten _expensive_. **FCM** , congratulations to **FCDaughter**! And I’ll testify that there’s no stubbornness like elderly stubbornness. I have a small travel trailer parked in my driveway that proves it - we got to the point where it was easier to just give in most of the time, since FIL was going to go through with whatever harebrained scheme he’d proposed. I believe that the pandemic is the only reason we aren’t now in possession of an inherited dog. **flyboy** , thanks for being that kitty’s guardian angel. You can’t tell people how to live, but if I had an indoor/outdoor cat who’d had to be rescued by a neighbor twice, I’d have an indoor cat now. And happy Firday with the appropriate congratulations and sympathy to all Mumpers, because I’m being called away! Ugh, loved ones really limit internet time. ---

The weird thing is that these aren’t frozen, just refrigerated. They have some sort of stabilizer added so they don’t go wonky. I used to just make home fries, but somehow got away from it. I’ll likely go back, as hash browns are a PITA. ---

I know I’m supposed to walk to Tar-jay today, but I can’t recall what I needed. Maybe if I go and wander around, it’ll come back to me. I awoke during the night to the blinds clattering. The wind had picked up, and today is cool and sunny. Yay for cool weather! I have various small chores today. Ms. Dog’s person wanted to drop her off this evening, but I’m tired and would like one more good night’s sleep first. Ms. Dog goes into Full Conelrad Alert if a leaf drops outside. I asked that we stick to tomorrow a.m. at 7. **shoe** , you get the most interesting phone calls and customers! Take care to cushion that toe. When I lost a toenail–I dropped a sheet of glass on it vertically–I kept a band-aid on it because I found it was tender. Maybe we shoujld page @BippityBoppityBoo. **FCM** , congrats to your daughter! Such wonderful news! I agree that your MIL may just want to get out now and then. Remember when families used to “go for a drive”? I know gas is pricey, but maybe she’d enjoy something like that. Or maybe it would just get her started on the Indianapolis trip again. Le sigh. TX SIL is on her way to the airport - poor **FCD** … it’s so nice and quiet here. MIL has had her shower and I fixed her an early supper (I guess, since she woke up at 1130) Laundry is finally done and chillage underway. If traffic isn’t too awful, **FCD** will be home by 6. We shall see how that goes. I’ll need to coordinate with Daughter once she knows her schedule. If she can’t get home soon enough, I will have to meet Roxy at the bus. And I think I’ll have her for a week between school and camp. We’ll see. Meanwhile, such wonderful quiet… 🤗 ---

Wear a comfy soft shoe with as little toe box pressure as possible, keeping regulation kitchen worker shoes in your locker in case the Health and Safety Inspectors surprise you. Some people find nighttime epsom salts foot soaks give comfort. Target and Wal Mart even have some Dr Neal’s soaks that are scented. Eucalyptus or rose or lavender. You and your poor foot probably deserve a little self care and pampering. ---
