(Old) Tell A Stoopid Joke MMP!

Unfortunately, mine are no longer. We had some serious storms last week, and the straight line winds ripped my tomatoes out. I still have my peppers, though.

You invent the sport, you get first pick of the names :squinting_face_with_tongue: Not our fault other people copied the name later.
Same idea as why our postage stamps don’t have the country name on there.

Eesh, I still don’t know where this smoke is coming from- nothing on the local news and I can’t see anything producing it- but it just set the fire alarm off.

Worried!!!

It smells like woodsmoke; apparently there was a fire earlier today not all that far away which got put out a few hours ago, in some woods on the other side of the river. Hopefully it’s just that or someone burning some garden waste, I’ll maybe go for a wander now it’s cooled down, see if I can see anything (you can see the woods that were on fire from a little hill behind the house) but I’m not worried. I live in a very built up area surrounded by farmland, and there’s a fire department less than 2 minutes drive away, it’s not somewhere fires would go undetected for long.

OK, not so worried now, but still. I know from personal experience that fires can move much faster than you might think possible. Please be safe, your ratties need you!

Hotter than hell in the building, and more chaotic than usual. Late driver start, lots of left in buildings, and the Supreme Shout Officer was shouting. Plus all the damages and re-wraps. I always love the “let’s ship a pack of crumbly ceiling tiles in a thin cardboard ring, with just a bit of shrink wrap and expect it to make it” package from Home Despot. I got out at 12:30. On the drive home I got stuck between a white SUV not turning right on green and a honking Ford F-250. When the SUV did go they immediately whipped left through traffic into a shopping center. Dunno if they thought they were in a straight ahead lane and froze, or they really needed the Urgent Car in the center they turned into. But now I’m clean, Spot has been attended to, laundry is sloshing, and the ice maker is making The Good Ice.
Talent agent: “I have good news and bad news. the good news is Paramount loved your script, absolutely ate it up!”
Writer: “What’s the bad news?”
Agent: “Paramount is my Cocker Spaniel.”

Festival starts at 6pm. It is The Will of Landru.
Enjoy!

Why not go full Addams Family and do black?

I get squirrels.

Just finished my cave tour, 4 miles in 4 hours with 1,500 steps and lots of underground hills and canyons. I enjoyed it but am so glad I did all that cardio at the gym. Thinking about visiting another cave but am first digesting at Double Quarter pounder at Mickey D’s and will decide after that.

Hot and sunny like most of the days I have been out on the road, no burn that I can feel but a definite tan.

And need to head back to the hotel to change, did a little sweating down there.

I used to have a neighbor who also had three very big and lazy cats  Sweet dogs, they would all run to the door to see who’s there and then race back to their spots on the couch to get the best places.

We do not. We even have dried corn on cobs hanging on the fence to attract them, but they all stay on the other side of the gully.

I was hoping that maybe the jays might want some corn, but they have been ignoring it as well. I guess I’ll give it to Harry, I know his raven likes fresh corn onna cob, maybe he will like this as well. I do hope so, we had to buy a twenty pound bag.

Nobody has been out mowing today, while we aren’t in the thick of the smoke, our ACI is hovering around a hundred and it got up to 93F during the afternoon. I went out and put ice cubes in my hanging plants but didn’t see any other reason to be out there so came back inside.

George has been getting little pimple feeling lumps around the back of his neck and shoulders. At first we were blaming Jolene and her dagger sharp teeth, but when they are rolling around on the ground, she doesn’t bite him there, plus her teeth are really too short to get through his fur. Hubs called the vet for an appointment and they have an appointment at 1100 tomorrow.

Hubs brought the carrier in and George took off. Jolene is hanging out in it so maybe George won’t be so spooked in the morning. Poor guy does not travel well and it annoys him when the entire office wants to hold and touch him. He’s fine with the worshiping, he doesn’t like being held, never has.

Howdy Y’all! We lunched at OG (soup, sallit, and breadsticks) but I did not take care of duties over to the church house. OYKW got an email that said he had to sign for a package he was expectin’. He got an Irish Rovers tape (yes, he has a reel to reel tape deck) on EBay that was bein’ delivered via USPS. So, we waited around for the mail to come. Turns out he did not have to sign for the package. Anywho, we went to OG around eleven cause we wanted to beat the lunch rush and I just didn’t want to go deal with stuff afterwards. So, I’ll do it in the mornin’. The rest of the day has been spent inside in the a/c as it’s HAWT (in south Jawja in July, imagine that!) outside. Still is.

MOOOOOOM Our livin’ room would most likely be featured in House Grumpy Old Gay Men. The furniture is comfy. That’s our style. OK, it also goes together cause we are not total cavemen.

Taters it won’t long before your daugheter, SIL, and grandkids will visit, right?

Mollie that joke made me snort. Good one!

Lily house guests are wonderful to see comin’ and just as wonderful to see leavin’. What’s that old sayin’? House guests and fish both start to stink after three days?

Nuts a Biblically correct angel costume would be great for Hallowe’en. Do you do Hallowe’en? I am given to believe it’s not a thing in Greater Britain and the environs therein.

Dicey you got rickrolled at the grocery sto’? How rude!

doggio your joke made me snort as well!

JtC I agree with the greyhounds. See who’s at the door and then go back to the sofa and get comfy. Hope whatever is wrong with GG is not too bad.

It is a beautiful tree. Have you considered saving some of the helicopters to set as seedlings?

Got things mailed at the post office, but walked out without my CO2 cartridge. I did pick up 'scrips on the way home. I did a load of towels and took Nelson to the apartment office to sign my new lease. The manager had snacks, fruit and cheese out and offered, so I took a small cube of cheese for Nelson. He also got to meet one of the neighbors from one of the Oak Street quads (my complex is on two streets, my quad is on Martin and three of them are on Oak). Pino always offers to help me throw trash in the dumpster, but had never met Nelson. They got along.

I’ve begun some new cards and will continue to play in the studio this evening. Sunday, Sis, BIL and I are going to a flea market in Pearland (I had asked Sis for tomorrow, but BIL wanted to go, so Sunday it is). There’s a booth that advertises on MarketPlace that has stuff I’m interested in.

Yikes.

MOAR FIREWORKS!!! :sparkler: Why… ?

Sorry for the double post.

It’s “Bike Week” here, which I guess somewhat explains the fireworks. Also the metric shitload of LOUD choppers and other motorcycles out on the roads yesterday & today. (And for sure, all weekend.)

They’re mostly very courteous about road manners, although on the way in to work today I saw a Very Olde Farte ™ who looked like he could barely turn a corner. Tiptoes on the curb, etc. I gave him extra-extra space, then passed when it was safe. Stopped to pick up one of The Teenagers, and a block from work … there he was, pulled over in some random parking lot.

Hope he made it to his destination safely, but at that point I had two minors in my car, they needed to clock in shortly, and I just didn’t wanna get involved.

Oooh, that sounds yummy. What brand?

I love vanilla, and a lil’ honey never hurt nobody, plus since we’re in the same state there’s a good chance I can find it here, even in this little podunk town. WANT!

Speaking of, I’ve barely eaten today, and tomorrow is Long Night, so I gotta smoke eat. Y’all please take good care of yourselves.

We all got RickRolled together! :musical_notes:

I napped. I’m having a Monte Cassino for cocktail, with sardines, spinach, tomatoes, and olives for dinner. Watching F1 FP!.

He has good taste in music.

You as well!

I’ve been asked to go to a convention for work. I avoid crowds at all costs, I even have trouble talking to a group of science campers when they come to the shop to see what I do. My boss really wants me to go. I fear I’d make a bad impression on our place.

You will do them proud. You won’t be speaking to a crowd, you will be talking to one person at a time and everyone will love you. How could they not love the Maker of Giant Noses?

Ahhh…is Little Sturgis going on this weekend? We used to get them coming up from the south.

Nelson got to meet the puppy from upstairs tonight. At ~7 months old, she’s a little taller than he is, but with a lighter frame. My neighbor rescued her from the car repair shop where her BF works about the time Bria was weaned. Mama dog was a small GSD mix and daddy was a travelin’ dog, so who knows how big the pupper will be. She and Nelson got into play mode, so we let them get acquainted.

Old friends are in town for a Punk festival. We’re going to meet up at The Horseshoe tomorrow for breakfast. The last couple of times Wifey and I went there, it wasn’t as good as it used to be. But it has a reputation as ‘the place to go’ when you’re out clubbing. It’s the ‘vibe’ as much as the food. Now, I’m OK if there are off days. Mrs. L.A. will give a place one or two chances, and then put them on her ‘No, thank you’ list. As it happens, before she knew where we were meeting in the morning, she complained about back pain as severe as when she first injured her back. So I’ll be going solo. I did mention Little Cheerful, which is around the corner. My friends are one vegetarian and one ovo-lacto-pesco vegetarian. I hope they try it.

It looks like changing out the knob-and-tube wiring in this house will cost about $8,000. That would wipe out my savings, but I wouldn’t have to get a loan. Mrs. L.A. said the electrician was impressed by our Siemens circuit breaker panel. Apparently that’s a factor in keeping the cost down. (We had the fusebox replaced by the panel several years ago.) Once the house is rewired, I can get insurance through USAA, which I have for my cars. And I can put the San Diego house on the policy.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday. It’s also 81 degrees Ferret Height with a Heat Index of 91 Ferrets(27.222/32.778 Centipedes).
I just shot a mosquito out of the sky with the Bug-A-Salt gun [Ash Williams]This. Is. My. BOOMSTICK![/Ash Williams]

The Jatravartids

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: it’s not the same level of party as it is in the US, but it was a holiday over here before your country was even thought of. Where d’ya think you nicked all the traditions and name from? Young whippersnappers, you turn 250 and you assume you invented everything.

Not sure what today’s plans are. I could try do some major gardening- I need to clear space for some winter veg, as I’m completely redoing the current veg patch over winter, and it needs to be empty for that, but the ground is pretty solid.

There’s still a faint woodsmoke smell outside, but it’s not looking hazy at all. It had gone, best I can tell, last night.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 94 and becomin’ sunny this mornin’, but with possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse around six p.m. We shall see. I will betake myself over to the church house this mornin’ to take care of candle and other duties. I also foresee some quality cee-mint pond time. Any need to feed today shall be via forage. We have sammich makin’s, chips, etc so no chance of starvation.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
