Well, all the laundry has been done and all the dishes washed and everything has been put away in it’s selected space…and I made the executive decision not to rush to the gym before dinner; will get food and then guilt-trip myself into going tonight. At least that is what I am telling myself… I am at least snacking sensibly for once, remembered I bought some baby carrots so consuming something healthy (to make up for that Wendy’s Double in a couple of hours).

**BBBoo** , snow can be pretty when one doesn’t have to walk through/shovel it, sez me. Have done my fair share of both, glad to let someone younger have the privelege.

**Cookie** , I’m trying to do my shopping on Sunday when there is still stuff on the shelves, I agree that Moanday (especially in the morning) isn’t the best time for it.

**52** , take care and hope you feel better soon.

I don’t think I have ever heard of soup looking ‘furry’ and I don’t think I want to see it that way…

**nellie** , that’s got to be maddening. I’ve thought about looking for an apartment here in a couple of years, but now I wonder if I should just stay with the house.

**wet one** , they have ellipticals at my gym but I haven’t quite worked up the nerve to try them; can do 30 minutes on the treadmill but then need a break. I want to start some floor work/weights but will consult with the gym folks first.

**Oopsie** , glad Bailey still has so much energy; I could use some of it today.

**Nut** , I’m hope things work out with the car, one way or another; because public transportation in most of the USA is…not good.

**Coppertone** , much or little, if you’re happy I am glad for you.

**JtC** , sounds like N. Ali-bama when we get snow…from the people disappearing, you’d think the Zombie Apocalypse occured…

**shoe** , enjoy the party!

**Sari** , be careful on that ice; do they still sell salt for ice there? Enjoy the laptop.

And time for my TV show and then off to get Burger and Fries; just decided I’d go for full decadence and get it at 4 Guys tonight.

You and Fred Flintstone??

Just waiting here for MusicMan to come home. He pulled a muscle at work today and I made him fill out an accident report. And he made sure that they knew that I was the reason that he was filling it out! He was very much in pain, though, and having trouble climbing in and out of the truck. (So there!)

I’m trying to figure out what will be for dinner. Leftovers of some sort…

Isn’t it Hancock where it’s like 3 miles from WV to PA across the skinniest part of MD? I’m too lazy to pull up a map.

It’s dark again and hasn’t started snowing yet, but it’s still in the forecast. Any time now according to Accuweather, but only for a couple of hours. And we might see sun tomorrow. Maybe.

Supper was good and I finally had enough dirties to run a full dishwasher load. I think that’s enough productivity for the rest of the night. Chillage shall ensue.

I have multiple laundry baskets because the idea of sorting through dirty clothes kinda grosses me out so all laundry sorting happens before going into the baskets. Once something is in the basket, it doesn’t get taken out until everything goes in the washing machine.

Y’all are just too fancy. The only clothes sorting I do is separating jeans from the rest of the clothes, washing dress clothing in its own load and, of course, towels / sheets / throw rugs / grocery bags go in the utility load. It does help that most of what I wear is cotton or other natural fibers.

You may want to check into senior complexes or single level complexes that tend to have mostly seniors. Also, places with all or mostly one bedroom / studio units tend to be single or couple oriented with very few children. The only thing that I didn’t consider when I chose the apartment that I live in now is that the complex next door (just across the fence on my side of the property) is 3 bedroom townhouses with a metric shit ton of kids and a bunch of folks who host outdoor parties in the summer.

Got some adulting done today (did my application for social security done) and checked out insurance on the marketplace, for which I am now getting repeated phone calls from two different numbers several times an hour. If they don’t want to leave a voicemail, screw 'em, they don’t have anything imperative to say.

It’s back to irk tomorrow, or not, depending on what kind of winter weather we get tonight. When I took Nelson out this afternoon, it was 26 and windy AF. Nothing was falling from the sky, but that’s likely just a matter of time.

The ones around me (or at least the ones I know about) are definitely more modern. The ex in-laws wanted to go to church on one of their visits here and they were horrified. Women weren’t covering their hair, there was no separation of the sexes, and there were PEWS. I thought ex MIL was going to have a stroke.

I came home after the grocery store to find Moley sitting at the door. He ran up to me because the only reason I exist is to feed him.
Even though a neighbor is his nightly feeder.
I did have an extra can of chicken of the sea in the cupboard and my furry lowrider overlord ( hes low to the ground) cannot be denied.
I saw him meow a few times as I approached. What is he saying?
About an hour later I brought down outgoing mail to put in the slot where mailperson picks them up, and there was Moley!
Sorry little piglet, once a day is enough.

Nutty Buddys were always a bit too dry for my tastes. I much prefer the Peanut Butter Crunch bars, which are even more decadent, and (perhaps mercifully) are not easy to find.

**Mrs W** has been coughing since December 28 or so. She keeps apologizing, but I know she can’t help it. Whatever she caught, I somehow didn’t.

You are a very nice wife, that’s the sort of thing I always expect Hubs to do. I guess I might do it tomorrow because I don’t want him to die until he’s recovered from his surgery. And then I’ll kill him with my own hands instead of passively letting him die because he overdid it.

He is sure the trash will be picked up in the morning so I took the big bin to the corner. I agree, it was really fuckin’ invigorating. I forgot about my glittens, they are in the back of the drawer where I stuffed them when we unpacked. From AZ.

We had breakfast. We both had our mouths set for a full breakfast at Tudors so I opened the most !!! package of bacon ever. It was half meat and the other half fat. The meat part didn’t have enough fat to properly render so I put some of the fat on top of the meat and save the rest of the package for bean soup later this week.

I’m learning how to make home fries in my cast iron skillet and they come out better every time so that makes me happy. I didn’t break any yokes when I flipped the eggs and I always get a little thrill when that happens, I feel all Go Me! over the achievement.

I bought mine because the winter wind blowing through the smoking shelter at work was horrible cold. They let me hold a cigarette while keeping the rest of my hand not frozen. > It would be a shame if they went to waste!

It would indeed and I would probably be so offended that I would stop baking so they had to step up and deal with the problem!

I just saw a mob of utility repair trucks heading down the highway with lights a-flashing. We have both been looking side eyed at the lights when they flicker, but so far nothing has failed.

Din has been cooked, et and cleaned up, the dishwasher is sloshing and the house is warm. Phones and tablets have been charged and the genny is set to go off after two hours of no power unless one of us hits the start button.

It is still snowing, temp hasn’t gotten over 24F all day. I knocked 6 inches of snow off the big bin lid when I took it to the street and there are two more inches on it now. The state of emergency declaration will be lifted around two this morning which makes Hubs think the trash guys will have to work. I think he’s full of what makes the grass grow green, but whatever. I won’t bring it back up until it is empty, all of the bears are hibernating so no worries about them raiding the can.

Wifey, RN thinks the thermostat is failing/has failed in the Nursemobile (2010 RAV4). No warm air in the cabin, and the temp gauge is in the middle. Then after a while the gauge shows hot, and the warm air comes on and the gauge returns to normal. We dropped it off at the shop for tomorrow’s appointment. Yeah, you are right. That is the skinniest point.

Roads are messy but not bad.
The other drivers were annoying. My son thought he would get out early, but there were very few cars in the lot. If few people show up, he could end up with a full night.

We can get salt around here **MetalMouse** but we don’t have any. My son found a box of kitty litter, so that will do. I looked it up and we could also use the water softener salt we have.

I almost fell getting out of the truck because the running board was covered in snow and slippery.

I can’t think of a single thing that Little Debbie makes that I like.
As much as I like cakes, brownies, and cookies, there are very few packaged ones that I like.
TastyKake butterscotch krimpets are good. If I’m in the mood for them, I like the chocolate cupcakes.
I ordered an apple pie rum cake for New Years that was pretty good.

My nieces came out on News Years Day along with the two younger boys. The youngest one, 11, said he’s coming to live with me over the summer. He likes my house and yard. I don’t know why, I think he’d get bored pretty quickly.
He liked climbing on the wood pile out back. My neices were afraid of a snake being in there. As cold as it is, I doubt it. I was afraid of him falling off of it.

We finally cleaned out the back room. It still needs organizing, but everything has been put back somewhat neatly. I think we may be done with mice.

I’ve over $1.5K poorer, but my 16 year-old car is in fightin’ trim. Or will be by next week, when the door gasket is replaced. I’m celebrating with a can of Progresso soup, because even though my ma was a gourmet cook, I like my instant meals sometimes, too. What shall I eat for dessert? I know, a coupla Niederegger marzipan candies from my Christmas stocking!

(Yeah, I’ve been to Lübeck, only because the Niederegger factory is there.)

Thank you? She’s landed, on time, and had dinner and getting into bed.

She’s there to do an audit, and will be home on Thursday.

That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.
Very nice of you to send cookies along to your next door on the left neighbor.

I had to google this as I didn’t know what it is. Wikipedia told me that it is a ceremonial grain dish with sweet gravy traditionally served mostly by Eastern Orthodox Christians and some Catholic Christians predominantly in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, in parts of Lithuania and Poland (near the borders with Belarus and Ukraine.
Neither of my Babcias ever made this dish. **shoe** , did your Mom ever make this? Or any others of Polish descent, did your Mom or grandmother ever make this?

**Lily** I like Progresso soup as well. Have never tried the Chicken Corn Chowder; how was it?

Ended up as a RDOS during the afternoon and evening. Started reading a James Patterson book.

Maybe institute a version of a swear jar? Instead of (or perhaps in addition to) naughty words, they gotta put a quarter in the jar before asking you any questions while you’re on work time.

That way, they _can_ still ask, should an emergency arise … but it’s amazing how easily emergencies solve themselves when it’s your own money on the line.

Cash up front.

I am utterly notorious at my job for having no idea what day it is.
Or date. (Important in a restaurant, when you hafta label perishables. Six days out & they get tossed, per health code.)

_Me_: “What day is it?”
_??_: “It’s Wednesday, sweetie.”
_Me, holding a Sharpie & “use by” stickers_: “Okay, but what’s 6 days from today?”

_Me_: “Which pans go back to the kitchen tonight?”
_??_: “It’s Friday, **shoe.**
_Me_: " … ?”
_??_: “None of them.”
_Me_: “Shit, I thought it was Thursday.”

(Different sized pans go back to the kitchen to be washed, on different nights. I had the schedule memorized a while ago; they changed it; occasionally there are exceptions. I’ve given up, and just mildly annoy management by asking again, every night I close.)

Stay outta the back of my fridge.

I did! About three solid hours of people-ing, and then I was … done.

Had a nice time watching everyone bowling (including many littles - they’re more fun to watch than the adults!) and had my game of pool. **S.M.** won, of course, but I only had two balls left on the table, so I did okay.

Some of the shots were actually on purpose! (Not gonna lie, a couple went in, to the surprise of .. me, who was not aiming for that pocket OR that particular ball.)

30 years in Texas will really f@%! a girl up. This post made me twitch (“I thought JtC was a _nice_ person, WTF?”) until I remembered geography.

Since we’re (mostly) not allowed to swear like sailors at work, unlike most restaurant crew, I have been collecting things like this.

Thanks!

Never even heard of it. My mom hails from the Warsaw area, so … { _shrug?_ }

Chicken and Herb Dumplings is my go-to.

Crap, now that I posted that & made it official, they’re gonna go and discontinue it.

@FairyChatMom there were footprints in the snow when I was leaving!
Finally.

And now, instead of saying “I don’t give a rat’s ass” I can say, “I don’t give a cat’s ass … EVEN IF IT’S PURPLE!”

Thank you. I now officially own a coaster.

… makes a handy spot to set down my phone. 😃
