Welp, in the good news department, the dishwasher repair was completed today and although I thought the labor cost was high compared to the amount of time installing a new drain pump, it’s done. It was $369.00 altogether.

In the bad news department, I got my first-ever fraud alert on my credit card. Pissed me off. Someone tested it, apparently because it was a zero-dollar charge, but all the same, I now have to wait for a new credit card. I rarely use that card, which makes it more irritating. I usually make small purchases every couple of months and then pay it off. However, recently, I used it to pay for our airport private shuttle, the furnace repair, and today’s dishwasher repair. Which, when I think about it, is much more frequent than usual, but things needed fixing.

It’ll be nice to load my dishwasher again, though. Hand-washing all the dishes is a drag. I handwash all my pots, pans, and knives, but all cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, etc. are usually done in the dishwasher. I grew up without a dishwasher and have no desire to return to that state of affairs.

In other news, I opted to take the rest of the day off, and I have tomorrow off due to it being a holiday. I don’t have anything truly pressing going on at work, and I have a ridiculous amount of leave to burn up before year-end.

Glad you’re coming out on the other side of the plague\*\*, johnny.\*\*

The husband is out picking up Jersey Mikes, some diet coke, fruit and chips (for him).

I’m going to bust out the blower and blow all the fir tree needles off my porch and off my pavers.

**OK, that was weird…**

Since I’m over the plague, I ran an errand. Leaving the store, I noticed that my 2005 Prius dashboard was completely dead. I pulled over, shut down, and restarted. No dash. The car ran though, and everything else was working. I noticed that the Consumption display on the MFD was lit, but had no data. No choice but to continue home, and schedule a visit to Toyota.

I got home and turned off the car, then I held down the power button for a few seconds. The car powered up, but the dashboard was still in-op. Then I did the same thing again, only this time I put the fob into the slot in the dash. This time I got my dashboard back. I powered off and on a few times, and it continued to work.

That was bloody weird, and I don’t know what happened.

I’ve been working around the apartment, getting things ready for my daughter’s arrival tomorrow. There’s supposed to be rain and snow on the pass, but not a lot of either. I’ll worry anyway.

I have to head to the grocery store and the gym yet today, but I can’t leave until the laundry is folded, and it’s still chasing itself in the dryer.

**swampy** , Happy Cake Day! I hope you get actual cake. Also something adult to toast with. I’m sure glad you’re on the Dope! (Note to Georgia law enforcement: put away those handcuffs. Bears don’t do weed.)

**Wheelz** , ukulele lessons sound like so much fun! I’m sure you’re better than you think you are. When I took tai chi classes several years ago, there was a ukulele class in the next room. Occasionally, we’d applaud loudly enough for them to hear, and they’d chorus, “THANK YOU!” And now I’ve got [this song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsiuQvkZBiw) going through my head.

Fob battery dying?

Well, the concert went fine. Had an empty seat next to me so I was able to extend my leg from time to time. The concert was lively enough so that I didn’t nod off.

Took my first ride in the new vehicle - I wasn’t ready to drive it, especially with the kid aboard, so **FCD** went with us to meet Roxy. And he showed off the new toy to our daughter.

I’m glad I didn’t drive it yet - there are so many different things about it, what with the displays and the controls. I need to sit in it and play with some settings before I feel comfortable enough to drive, and even then, I may just go around the block here a few times to get the feel of it.

The biggie will be setting up my profile - I know that involves picking my radio stations and linking my phone, but I don’t know what else. It’s sure not like the old days of switching cars.

I’ll have both kids tomorrow, but that’s what the basement is for. I have tortellini for their lunch And animal crackers and graham crackers for snacks. With luck, they’ll entertain each other and I’ll just have to occasionally referee.

I had some turkey noodle soup for supper - pretty yum!! I think I’ll have some yogurt, too. Then chillage. I need chillage.

Howdy Y’all! Things got did and we were bears who brunch. We stopped in the Food Kitty after we left Eggs Up. I bought a chawklit cake. I got asked why. I explained about my Doperversary. I got a weird look. However, he did eat a big slice of cake. I should have told him no cake for him. HUMPH!

**FCM** Thanks for the reminder, I’ve got tortellini and turkey, might make some soup.

**flyboy** Hate it when the electrics don’t work. Hope it’s not serious.

As to me, I’m partway through “onboarding” with the school district to do some stuff for them. Basically giving up my afternoons for 3 weeks while I help some grade school kids put on a play.

Everything was fine until then; now, people end up about a mile or two away from my house. Every single month I send Google Maps a correction. They almost always say they’re correcting it, but they don’t, and people continue to get lost. So irritating.

Every couple of years, GoogleMaps starts sending all of my packages to the same unit in the next building. I tried what you did for several months the first time around. Then I got the bright idea to do a chat with da Jungle Customer Service IT. They got 'er done while we were still chatting. 🙂

Not sure where to put this; I’d love opinions, but it seems kind of overdoing it to make my own thread. Putting it here for now.

One of my coworkers (about ten people on the team) is getting married this weekend. I found out, through idle chatter amongst other coworkers, that he invited at least three others on our team to said wedding. I wasn’t. (I suspected this, so I asked indirectly about it with those coworkers I overheard; it was probably gauche of me, but I didn’t want to just wonder forever.)

I’m not the most social person, and I realize that when you’re planning a wedding, you gotta make tough decisions, but I just wonder about it on a personal professional level, if I’ve somehow come across as not likable or undependable, and how that might affect future interactions and such. (He’s not a manager or anything, “just” a peer, but I know that peer opinion can count for something).

I’m kind of uneasy, I guess, not sure what to say or do? I’m absolutely not bringing it up with him, for certain. The coworkers I overheard know that I wasn’t invited (I told the truth if asked if I was coming), but they didn’t seem too bothered about it, which maybe means something for how I should treat it.

As you say, lots of reasons for you to not make the cut at a wedding. None of which _necessarily_ reflect on you as a person or as a co-worker, nor do they foretell bad office politics to come.

Unless you elect to make a big deal out of it and you, or somebody else, puts the groom on the spot. That _will_ trigger a problem or even a crisis. So don’t do that.

My advice to drop it, drop it, drop it. Keep your eyes open for other signs of hostility or passive aggressive behavior from this person, or signs they’re setting the boss against you. Absent that it’s just ne of the many little awkwardnesses we all sometimes have to do and more often have to put up with from others.

Oh, absolutely. I feel little to no personal slight, so I don’t really _want_ to make a fuss anyway. I was just hoping that this didn’t mean that there was a sword of Damocles hanging over me or that I had to make serious changes in how I dealt with this guy at work (since I’d have only guesses as to what to DO to begin with).

Weddings are expensive and folks often have to make hard choices about the guest list. If you were the only one on your team excluded, that would be worrisome but it seems as though two-thirds of the team wasn’t invited. That’s different.

If it was me, I’d just forget about it until someone (not me) started an office collection to buy a wedding gift and then I would give my usual amount and then forget it again fer reals.

Hurray for publication, **emily!**

Happy cake day **swampy** , you are a very nice bear who shares cake with your bunky despite eye rolling. My bunky would get **NO** cake after that, no matter how many puppy dog eyes he made at me. Well…maybe, maybe not cause I’m a sucker too…

It has gotten cold here, so I spent yesterday baking. I made another batch of spritz cookies and then did a batch of ginger snaps. I didn’t have a proven recipe so found one online that seemed to be what I remembered using back in the day. They came out saucer sized and the white sugar dissolved so they didn’t look all sparkly.

You can’t properly dip saucer sized cookies in a cup of coffee without breaking them and getting crumbs all over, so I will be doing them again but using half the dough and using white glitter.

Now that I’m baking Christmas cookies for Mom, I feel the need to up my game.

Happily I have friends who think my “ugly” cookies are wonderful so I’m not feeding them to the chickens.

GG just opened the almost closed door with his nose. I am so proud of him, off I go to give him treats and praise for being a smart kitty.

For all I know, I _could_ have been the only one excluded. But finding that out either way would probably take questioning that could be uncomfortable for a lot of people no matter what the truth is, so I’m not inclined to do so.

Once upon a time, the whole class wasn’t invited to birthday parties, nor did everyone expect to be. It was understood that each person had levels of friends, so you might be in the group that bowls together, but not invited to a sleepover. It’s not a value judgment necessarily.

Personally, sometimes not being invited is the better option. 😉

I see an early night for me… _YAWN_ 🥱
