Dammit. Good news is, my “breakfast” is thoroughly prepped. Bad news is, my “good” pan is in the sink, so I hafta wash dishes before I can cook anything. { _cue pose of utter woe_ } Plus, I let **Monkey** out and he came in all silently … having shed/lost/yanked off his jingle-bell somewhere. Good thing they come in 2-packs on Amazon and I had a backup. Heh. He thinks he’s so clever! Also ALSO I went to an Asian market the last time I made the drive to G.R. last summer-ish. I saw rice paper wrappers with black sesame seeds. Thought they were in my pantry - I have shredded chicken that needs usin’ up, and was looking forward to trying them. (I luuuurve sesame anything.) After ransacking the pantry, I remembered that I chickened (HA!) out & didn’t get them, because anxiety. (“What if I buy them and hate them? What if I buy them and LOVE them, how will I get more?”) So I’m disappointed in my lunch plans, disappointed that I wasn’t brave enough to buy the stoopit goddamn black sesame rice paper wrappers that **Future Shoe** apparently really wanted to try, and I _STILL_ hafta wash dishes if I wanna eat anything meaningful. DAMMIT!! Off to smoke this last halfa J and put “cat collars for idiots” back onto my Amazon cart. Also a few for the cat. ---

What a mess. My wife teases me about my obsession with gas, but anything can happen: accidents, weather, breakdowns in freezing weather. I also carry water in the car along with blankets and other emergency items. ---

Same - my Minnesota pals were very surprised when I arrived last year to see that I already had a full emergency kit and snow gear set up in my car. “Guys,” I said, nonplussed, “It gets _cold_ here.” ---

I lived in earthquake/forest fire country for over 20 years (Alaska/Oregon). It doesn’t help to have a bug-out bag if your tank is empty. ---

A very nice elderly Jehovah’s Witness has my landline number and is leaving long messages involving Revelation,etc. The messages are fairly unintelligible what with static, etc. Guess the JWs no longer go door to door. ---

I shoveled, I laundried, I played _Dorformantik_, I listened to a podcast about the science of focus, I ate cheese. There’s not much more you can expect out of a rest day. I’m tired from shoveling, but I’m thinking of taking **Wee Weasel** outside today to show him how to build a snowman. He’s not exactly enraptured with snow. He doesn’t like to touch it, and I don’t forsee him doing a lot on his own, but watching me build something might entertain him for a time. Oh, I almost forgot, if you don’t mind me shouting from the rooftops: My son used the potty _twice_ today at ABA! I was beginning to wonder if anything was gonna happen. Once he’s got the hang of it at ABA, we’ll start doing it at home, and, eventually, school. Before I retired I had a company paid cell phone. My new phone number used to belong to an elderly African American woman named Lavern. It took me almost three years to kill off the robo calls from her insurance company. I still get the occasional call from other elderly African American ladies who probably had Lavern’s number on speed dial. Most of them are JW’s and have tried to convert me. ---

_Started Typing: 3:14 PM ET Clicked Reply: 3:39 PM ET_ My company is moving to MS Office 365, changing our email addresses (from \*.com to \*.us), _and_ changing the endpoint management tool on corporate mobile phones (after the first two changes are made). Everything happens on the same day. The updates are rolling out in waves, and today was my launch day: surprisingly, I’ve encountered no problems! (🤞) I figured _something_ was bound to go wrong during the phone factory reset and switch to the new tool (and setup of Outlook, etc.), but it’s been a few hours now and so far the only “glitch” is that I can’t get to my Google contacts. I’d exported them before the reset and was able to import them with no problem, but right now they’re all stored locally. I have a question in to the support team about being able to use the cloud again. I’m pretty relieved…this could _easily_ have been a No Good Very Bad Day! (My personal trainer is actually having one of those: this morning he cancelled today’s session, due to car problems.) Any time a JW or other proselytizer came to the door, he would invite them in, offer them coffee, listen patiently to their spiel, and then say “Well, thank you for the information. Now let me tell you about MY faith.” Then he’d break out pamphlets and other material and bend their ear for a half hour. If they tried to escape, he’d just say “You know, I was polite enought to listen to you, and this won’t take much longer.” Word got around. ---

And a good afternoon to all. Got my stationary pedaling done early today, so am trying to fill out the afternoon on-line. 61F here and clear, but due to drop below 50F tomorrow. Been pretty quiet here, haven’t seen a JW in probably 8-9 months, I politely tell them I am not interested and close the door…politely. **flyboy** , that’s a long time on the road; glad you got back safe and sound. **Spicey** , sounds like a good talk and you can understand where your employee is coming from, something a lot of bosses can’t do. Hope it works out for both of you. Two stories here: When I was in HS, my parents’number was the old town hall number. At least once a month, we’d get a call about someone’s trash pick up. Most were understanding but one woman refused to believe my step-mom until she finally told the woman, "Fine, we’ll be there tomorrow! " Never did find out what happened. When I first moved to Nashville _mumble mumble_ years ago, my new cellphone number used to belong to a roofing company.
