😂😂😂

**FCM** I am working on a possible companion piece with some of the spaghetti that we had for dinner. It just depends if it will have time to dry before our trip tomorrow.

If I had broken a window when I was a kid, I wouldn’t have worried about the ball, I would have worried about Dad. We might have been free-range kids but damage to property due to carelessness would cost freedom and TV as well as extra chores to pay for the damage. Plus, we would get the “We are so disappointed in you” talk.

I’ll bet you had the best stick of them all!

Mom used to make our costumes. It was a whole process, we would go to thrift stores and get things that could be reused or repurposed (so many wedding gowns were Halloween sacrifices) and we would get to wear make-up because she didn’t like those slit eyed plastic masks all the other kids got. (Of course we all wanted the masks until the first time we tried to walk with them - no wonder everyone wore their mask on their head until a door opened.)

> I must have blocked out the button.

Spoiler: In the black and white movie I saw back when I was in grade school, after the transformation the Professor kept a bag over his head while teaching his wife how to use some sort of electronic press that would squish his head instantly. Then he put his head in the press and the camera showed her pushing the button and then running away in tears.

Or at least, that’s how I remember it. Of course, memories are tricky.

I was on a jury about a pretty scary stalker that included the cop and bad guy rolling around on the ground and fighting over the cop’s gun. When the cop got the bad guy to drop the gun, one of the bystanders ran over and yelled something about moving the gun out of the way and kicked the gun away so the bad guy couldn’t get it.

The cop testified to this. The gun kicker testified to this. The gun kicker’s friend who was standing right there swore under oath that the gun kicker actually kicked the gun out of the bad guy’s hand and saved the cop.

When challenged about his conflicting story, he just looked real stubborn and said “That’s what I saw.”

We the jury choose to believe the two people who were actually involved but spent much time discussing the third guy and why his memory of what happened was so different. He wasn’t remembering being the hero himself, he was very clear that he didn’t move from his spot from start to finish.

Are you using bottled water for her? Tap water can be hard on their little kidneys, ours only get R/O water and we haven’t had any UTI’s for at least 15 years. Well, except for Jolene, but she came to us with one so that doesn’t count.

Sheriff seems to be highly contested races out this way. I don’t have to see the county markers to know when we have gone past one, all I have to do is look for the Elect X for Sheriff signs.

We went to Charleston today and there is always someone set up at a flat spot by the intersection selling rugs and blankets and used clothes and all that stuff. Of course they had political signs for sale. Right smack dab in the center of all of the trump trash were LGBT signs and flags.

I’ve also seen a couple of Harris/Walz signs next door to houses with trump/vance signs and there are no signs of broken windows or gunshots in either houses. I think that is a good sign myself.

Kittens only eat what their mom’s have taught them is food. If they were never taught to eat gooshy fud, it is super hard to get them to do it later. That’s a shame because kibble is why cats started are so prone to kidney failure. Not just IMHO btw.

Love your shoe, your sister is very creative!

Your sister really does know how to party!!!

And…Hubs just dropped my wedding ring down the dish disposal. BRB.

OK, that was easy, he just couldn’t reach his big paws into the disposal to fish it out. I take my ring off when I’m cooking for sanitary reasons. I have a silver cat ring holder by the sink and I have a white gold wedding ring. Our agreement is the the cook doesn’t clean, so when he was wiping the counter up, he grabbed the cat and my ring bounced into the sink and straight into the disposal.

Our housekeeper will be coming tomorrow, I am going to offer that ring holder to him and if he doesn’t want it, will donate it to the local Salvation Army. I ordered a **[blue ring holder](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B3DNTV3T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1)** that will help stop this from happening again. I hope.

Your local landfill loves you. Repair is much better than buying something cheap that will get tossed in a year.

Waves hand in the air. I don’t care what time it is. Back when I lived in ranch country, the farmers used to complain that their cows didn’t care what time it was. All they wanted was to be fed and milked at certain times and moving the clock didn’t help milk production one bit.

Hubs and I went to Charleston today because I had a bent wheel on my car. We both didn’t need to go, I just went fer the drive. The forest is ever changing and now the leaves are falling like rain in some places. It was hypnotic watching them blowing in the wind.

Doesn’t do much good if you want the part right away.

I can drive out to Rancho Cordova, buy the part, and drive back, faster than I assume I could get a part from the sources you suggest.

And when I am buying a part for a kludge repair, it helps me to be able to see the part in person, and imagine how I’m going to try to make it fit in place of a different part.

Up from naptime, having a martini, and some chicken with egg noodles and cheese sauce. So an old friend of mine sold me a couple of old player sticks the other day. While we were talking, it tuned out she worked for Brown back in the day, and she worked the shift after the one guy lost his arm. In 1998. Background: All the Blueberries get told about a guy who used to open the safety cages around the belt motors, and pull out letters, till one day his arm got sucked in, and he only survived because he was going in sideways and the motor couldn’t eat a rib cage. Screwing up so badly that you are part of the Saftey Briefing nearly 30 years later is Ea-Nasir level infamy.

And another late-night final from Casa Rat. After taking the garbage out I went back to the gym for some more cycling (without soccer practice due to lack of light, I can either do that or sit around the house and do nothing…and since I’m paying the gym money monthly, might as well get as much use as possible). Came home and had a couple cups of applesauce to assuage my appetite.

Interesting occurrence during my afternoon swim session; a couple ladies came in the pool area dressed in customary Muslim attire (that is, clothed head to toe, long-sleeve dresses and head scarves, but not in black abaya’s you see in the Middle East), I figured they were visiting the gym while waiting for some other (male) family member to finish, but they went back in the women’s dressing room and came out in…well, something like this: [Amazon.com: Plus Size Burkini Muslim Swimsuits for Women Modest Islamic Swimwear Long Sleeve Full Cover 3PCS Set Beachwear with Cap Black : Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry](https://www.amazon.com/Burkini-Swimsuits-Islamic-Swimwear-Beachwear/dp/B0C4SH9HWJ?crid=33BA6BAQHOJQY&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.0FubT4JBI-_ABMDTNiyluiDAzbJW1I5FEVVSetztBcHANaTgoH6X42kEHmpDPFrsYKI2tjgHYtwKXti_ZtEPTe-S2tY6ajdVK7VPHun59aU5_QIJEw3VqnO28EbsBU29CBmb61xpC3AFU8rAarjxh6BILFof79ZFtsWJaoG2OL8uZBPCyPM3OsxmExUfXbZLfHRw_n9SSvhL9SeWr_7760G2I2q-5y5_oB7mP5Ez701eC1_u-NAboKoXNFxM0loT4wXr4HpPFRX373kZTd9f-RbdsApmpr4_fJZbjx1E0l0.NNg41NxWLRegKD7ePHJnKPcB3FgZAnUCXNnip1H7Feg&dib_tag=se&keywords=muslim%2Bwoman%2Bswimsuit&qid=1730342954&sprefix=muslim%2Bwoman%2Bswimsui%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-10&th=1&psc=1)
They did a little swimming with (I presume) a male member of the family helping them out, but I left about then so didn’t have a chance to talk to them. Will be interesting to see if they come back on another day.

**nellie** , hope you are feeling better soon. And sounds like the management of your apartments leave something to be desired…

**red** , that’s a nice little incentive, not a lot of money but it does make the people feel like they count for something (IMHO).

**JtC** ,under sudden stress people will remember things quite differently. Glad your ring was easily retrievable.

**doggio** , icky story, had to look up Ea-Nasir, nice story, it’s rather nice to know folks several thousands of year ago could screw up in doing business…

And guess I need to get back to the baseball game, looks like a tight one.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 14c/56f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Mild, cloudy days are the fucking best days for fantasising about your fucking coworkers going to hell.” Yeah, meetings, right?

My minion meetings aren’t too bad, we are instructed to have a fortnightly catch-up which really just covers what’s been happening and what work is coming up, plus the chance to book time off and stuff like that. Mostly they’re fairly routine but we have to do it and then I have to document it (that’s the bit that really irritates me).

So definitely nothing interesting in my day to look forward to - I have three meetings and the minutes from yesterday’s departmental meeting to write up. Other than that, I’m not sure what else the day holds.

Last night I went to the pub with my friends which was nice, I was home and in bed before midnight which was good. I am tired today though, but hopefully I can have a reasonably early night tonight. 'im indoors is off to Scotland tomorrow so I’ll have a couple of days home alone and unsupervised!

Oh joy - mandatory meetings. Altho my last boss made them tolerable. The agenda was short and sweet and ended with fascinating facts, like the time he had a slide about alpaca farming. Doug was in interesting boss…

It appears that my internal clock has shifted since Higgs is gone. I no longer feel obligated to get up to let her out, so I’m staying up till 11-ish and getting up between 6 and 7 if not later. Years of waking at 5 are becoming a forgotten memory! I’d still be lying abed this morning if MIL hadn’t decided to get up. I had to made sure she didn’t try to do anything in the kitchen, lest she make a mess or hurt herself. So she and I are both up and drugged and fed.

It’s a glorious 81° to start the day! My only plan is a run to the convenience center. The truck hasn’t been driven for a couple of weeks, so I can take care of that and trash at the same time. I may run to Food Lion while I’m out - they have cukes for 50¢ each! Last week, they were 79¢. I see a cuke salad in our future. I may do some rollsuckage also. And the dishwasher needs to be emptied. And I should sweep off the back deck. Dang, I have stuff to do - why are you people distracting me??? 🫤

Happy Thursday and Happy 🎃 🧛‍♂️ 🎃 🧛‍♀️ 🎃!!

Good morning.

It’s 42F, dark and cloudy. It will be cloudy all day, with occasional afternoon rain showers and a high temperature of 53F.

**Nellie** , I hope you’re feeling better today.

I wish they’d leave the time on Standard, too. I hate flipping back and forth on time, especially when flipping back to standard because I “lose” an hour of sleep. I have also read several articles that state staying on standard time is best for one’s health.

Yesterday was absolutely exhausting, and I was completely done and sore by the time I got home yesterday evening. I arrived in Oly town at around 4:30 a.m., waited for Haggen to open, grabbed my yogurt and something for the potluck, and was in the office by 5:10 a.m. I arrived home at 5:20 p.m. after a 1.5-hour commute due to rain, too much traffic, and accidents.

However, the warehouse is sparkling, and all of the office is, too, except for one room where staff members loaded spare monitors, and someone dumped some stuff found in the warehouse they wanted to keep. When I saw that, I said whoever did that needed to put the stuff AWAY because I wasn’t cleaning that particular office a third time. Several old-timers stated the warehouse was the best it’s ever looked, but I was merciless. I tossed everything. Some stuff had been sitting in there since the early 2000s. I tossed rotting corkboards, loads of used office supplies, four-, six-, and eight-part folders, broken office chairs, and a lot of weird junk. My mantra was that if we are not using that stuff, it’s broken, rotted, or old, it’s going. I didn’t toss anything of real value, and no accountable property was tossed. But there wasn’t anything of value out there. I found space to store the parts of the cheesy “cherry” executive furniture (large overhead shelves, lateral file cabinets, under the high shelves, so they are no longer blocking the aisles. Someone was going to put her unused pieces in an aisle in the warehouse, and I stopped her, found space, and made it right.

I had a solid core team helping me out, and some people were absolutely useless and thought they were above cleaning up until someone went and had a conversation with their supervisor. (not me). I was grateful for the support I received, and we knocked it out of the park. I took the team to the warehouse and outlined a strategy for cleaning, sorting, and organizing.

We filled the building dumpster so full that we couldn’t crank the top down to close it entirely. It’s a very, very large dumpster.

It’s back to working from home, and it’s my Friday.

I hope all of those feeling icky are better, and I hope the rest of you have a good day.

And after getting her meds and a cup of coffee, MIL went back to bed. I dunno… **FCD** went to BIL’s apartment to feed his fish. I should probably get some clothes on, and I’ll rollsuck while MIL is out of the way.

Onward!!

No way! I have 4 baskets in my bedroom for sorting purposes, and when they overflow or I run out of something, then it’s laundry day. And usually just one every 3-4 weeks.

Hope the dentures work good, **Coppertone**.

**FCM** , when I was working I usually started about 6:30am which meant getting up about 5am Monday-Friday. Took a few years to adjust but usually sleep in until 6:30-8am now. It’s only getting to 81F this afternoon down here, you’re really having a warm spell.

**Taters** , that was a long day; but there must be a certain satisfaction in just tossing so much junk; I really need to do that for my garage someday. May this day be calmer.

Up about 7am, I had cereal on the breaking fast menu but after reading about **swampy** going to Eggs Up, I think I’ll fix pancakes and bacon instead. The Trick or Treaters will be out this evening and my porch light isn’t working, so I’ll have to look into that. Otherwise will shoot for a day of sloth.

Good Thorsday all.

Three weeks ago, they said Come in on the 31st and take them home.
That didn’t happen. They had to make another impression of the top ones ( gag).
The bottom partial was fine.
They cleaned my teeth, said I have 2 cavities and they want me to get a real crown ( I had a root canal 4 yrmears ago and they put a temp crown on.
And the end tooth they want a crown because its mostly filling, but its been fine so far.
Am discouraged. Teeth have been a problem my whole life.

> Well, you can tell it is Halloween in Chicago. The blue sky, brilliant sunshine, and 80-ish temps have been replaces by blustery rain and dreary weather in general. I think it’s a rule of nature or something. LOL

As a fellow Chicagoan, I say this is the perfect Halloween weather. I had the a/c on yesterday which is ridiculous.

**JtC**. Ursala Kitteh gets water from the Brita pitcher.

Today is the last official day of self quarantine but I’m extending it another 5 days. I’m improving but tired, coughing, and my stomach hurts. I haven’t had a fever yet I’m always warm. Last night I slept with the portable a/c on in the bedroom. Right now I’m sitting under the ceiling fan.

Good! “Official” has to be taken with a grain of salt because the same bug can hit four people in four different ways and in varying strength. Always listen your body.
