Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 21c/71f with a predicted high of 32c/89f and sunny. Weather app says “It’s clear outside. Go fly a fucking kite or something.” Maybe we would, if we had one! **metalmouse** I hope you and your luggage make it home safely and you get to catch up on some decent sleep. **pilot** we found a railroad musuem on the way to Klamath Falls, that looked like it was the highlight of the local area! Onwards to Mt Shasta today! ---

Just a quick update that I’ll probably be away until next week. My doctor thinks it’s carpal and, until I can get the braces, I need to rest them. So I’ll be watching a lot more TV and reading a lot. Here’s hoping this fixes it. ---

Seems like a productive and generally hopeful day here in the MMP! I had a filling replaced, a little veneer bonded on a surface, and some grinding down of burrs from my scooter accident two years ago, so half my face is numb. But no more appointments for me today, just stuff to do at home, and my lovely wife had a positive two-week follow-up visit with her orthopedic surgeon. She is now allowed to stand briefly without crutches, walk with crutches putting weight on the operative hip, and is not allowed to limp. The best news today, though, is that we went from a heavy mist to an actual light rain this morning, and it’s still raining! This is our first rain in weeks and weeks, and besides knocking the pollen out of the air, it means I don’t have to go out and water everything that’s in containers. So life is good, even though I’m not allowed to eat for several hours while the filling cures. ---

Afternoon all. Home is the traveler. The flight went right on time, no hassles and got in 15 minutes early. My baggage was right at the front of the Baggage Claim office, so I was out of there 10 minutes after the plane stopped at the Gate. And apparently my cellphone has bit the dust, and since I didn’t do backups (I had no idea you could do backups, I am illiterate when it comes to cell phones) all my vacation pictures may be gone. Have a new phone and the Verizon guy said this will back stuff up automatically…we’ll see. Still have the old phone, might see if there is a technician who can do some digging and rescue the photos. I do promise to catch up with all y’all, but it might take a little bit of time. Stay cool all (90F with high UV today). ---

It develops bad habits in the muscles. Not a lot of news from casa Paint. We got bad t-storms last night, power lines down and roads closed and everything. Today is looking ominous, but, so far so good. ---

Just posting a few pictures I took last night at my regular hang out, The Big Legrowlski. Jam nights Sunday through Wednesday. I was talking to one of the guys that runs the jams and I may be able to snag a job with him. He does sound at many venues and he says he’s hiring. I’m posting this now because I’m having a major decompression event. I wasn’t nervous going back to the east coast to reconnect with family, but I knew I was in for a head-fuck going back there after a whirlwind move across country and settling in a place so different, so far away and so friggin’ cool. Now that I’m back, I’m feeling a wave of hopefulness and settledness, as opposed to the temporary feeling I’ve always had ala John Cusack in _Grosse Pointe Blank_. All in all not too bad of a day given there was productivity as a part of it which goes against all that retired drains on society stand for! ---

Hubs sauteed some orange bell pepper to put on and made a very nice garden salad. It’s 89\* here so I’m going to go to the Municipal pool and get some laps in; not many as it’s the first time I’ve swum in a few years; actually I think since 2019 because pool was closed in 2020 for obvious reasons then the bathhouse was demolished and rebuilt in 2021; don’t remember why I didn’t go at all last year. But tonight’s the night. Probably won’t do too many lengths; have to work up to it. ---

I’m sorry about your cousin **sari**. Feel better soonest **fishy**! **metal mouse** , if you saved your pics to your sim card, you should be good. Today was the Mondayist Tuesday that I’ve ever seen. Got up, got ready for irk, nuked breakfast and came to the sad reality that I should likely be considering a replacement nukulator. It’s still working, but I had to nuke my egg and cheese tortilla for twice as long. I got to irk and went to put my phone on airplane mode (all of the wireless activity in the building will drain the battery when I leave it in my locker if I don’t do that) and found that the screen was borked. I had cracked it a couple of months ago, but it was still operable. Not anymore. The phone still functions (I can make a call from my car with the touchscreen in it) but the phone’s LCD would have to be replaced. The cost of a remanufactured phone of the same model is about $6 more than getting the LCD replaced, so da Jungle has one on the way. Meanwhile, I’ve put my sim card in my tablet to have a phone available in the house. Once I got to irk, I spent the first two hours trying to get my new digs set up, then trained a guy from our outfit nextdoor (it’s closing down) to cartonize phones, had a discussion with the new products engineer (the guy who handles the software that I use) because the regular IT guy set both monitors up on the flashing PC, which means that I didn’t have enough disc space to run everything that I need. The PC that was left to operate everything that I need except the flashing software runs Windows 7 and isn’t supported. The engineer went straight to my boss and told (note, not asked 😛 ) her to requisition an up to date PC for me. Thank goodness it’s over. Stay safe and healthy y’all! ---

Waves to everyone from Provo. I’ve read all but didn’t check in last night because of crappy interwebs. It isn’t any better here, I’m using my cell for a hotspot. So far, this has been a great trip filled with amazing beauty. I have driven through the Painted Desert and the badlands before, they are like the Grand Canyon, timeless and ever changing. I took pics but will have to wait until I’m home to post them. Crossing the Navajo Nation and the White Mountains was sobering as usual. I’m so secure and insulated that I forget what that entire people live in abject poverty. Last night I stayed at a little local motel and when I pulled up I could see that it was WESTERN! There were the standard black cut-outs on the exterior walls and a naked cow head hanging in the lobby. The check in clerk walked me to my room and the first thing I saw when she opened the door was a fer reals horse bridle, bit included and a pair of leather assless chaps hanging on the wall. I was having my doubts about the sort of place I had booked, but remembered the family checking in before me had two school age kids. The rest of the room was also WESTERN and I had the fun experience of pooping under the disapproving gaze of an Apache grandmother in full regalia. Hanging over the toilet for the men’s enjoyment was her sepia colored spouse. It was clean and quiet and felt secure, so all was good. As this is MY trip, I brought a bottle of cream for my coffee because I’m far too spoiled and precious to use those terrible powdered creamers. There wasn’t a coffee pot in the room (probably worried about blowing fuses, this was not a new place by any means) so when I showed up in the lobby with my own bottle of cream, I sure got some jealous looks but of course I shared it to much gratitude and complements on my trip planning. This place is just standard commercial. It’s nice enough and all, but there is nothing like waking up looking at a horse bridle hanging over you, LOL! Late to the MMP this week; read most and retained some. Ain’t nothin new around here anyway. As for pizza, if I’m ordering for myself, I’ll generally get a single topping. _If_ I can trust that I’ll get _good_ Italian sausage, that’s what I’ll get. Sadly, I’ve found that it’s not always the case outside of the Chicago area. If I’m not sure, then pepperoni it is. Or maybe black olives if I’m sharing with **Mrs W** , who is not a meat-eater. If there are multiple people to please, I’m cool with bacon, ground beef, ham, tomatoes, and yes, even pineapple. But NO VEGGIES. It’s a pizza, people, not a salad. I’ll tolerate a little (fresh) spinach, and maybe some onions if they’re not raw. But peppers or mushrooms will make me gag. I once knew a person who liked broccoli on their pizza. For god’s sake, _WHY???_ ---

My signature pizza (which everyone expects when I am involved, although I make others) has a pesto base, crumbled soft goat cheese, loads of black olives, topped with mozzarella. Bake for 13 minutes at 450 deg. I prebake the thin crust for 3 minutes. ---

I have had two rather outstanding pizza parties in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Hosted by locals. Their culturally appropriate secret pizza toppping? Whole-kernel corn. Survived my irk today; Ref our traveling **mouse** , this two-day trip had 4 flights. 3 early, one late, and that due to the previous flight of our jet arriving late with two ultra-handicapped folks needing to be removed by a support crew and an aisle chair. But despite the late start we arrived early. Got home from all the to-ing and fro-ing in time to eat an unhealthy snack and pour a double gimlet. Which has now gone down smoothly. Tomorrow I fear will be another irk day, but at least it’ll start late morning. ---

Ah geez, I keep missing these darn things. Forgive me. Life’s been something. I’ve been using Tumblr more than Twitter lately, which has helped my mood. I’m also making progress on preparing for school in September. I need to get a laptop for my class, and the spec suggestions my professors gave me are surprisingly beefy, so it looks like I’ll have to make a significant investment in that. I’ve been going on neighbourhood walks with my sister a bunch lately, which has been nice, though unfortunately, she’s going to get her period soon, so they may have to wait for a few days. I’ll probably just go by myself for a time. As for my favourite MMPizza…cheese. Plain cheese. Yeah. I don’t mind pepperoni and sausage, but if I have the choice, _always_ plain cheese. I also like ultra-thin cracker crunch crust over thick rising crust. ---
