Good morning! It’s 42°F and cloudy, but once again, rain is forecast to fall throughout the day, and the expected daytime high is 47°F. Thankfully, nothing like earlier, and the waters are starting to recede. **Metal Mouse** , I hope the icky feeling passes in time for your long drive. Stay home and rest! **JtC,** WoW was definitely a pretty game, but after numerous expansions, the quests all seemed the same. And yes, “Leee-roy Jenkins!!!” was all over the realm chat. I was always a ret (retribution) paladin, because I also just loved slashing away with a two-handed sword. Healing was boring. Now, I don’t game at all, unless you count playing Wordscape on my phone. **Red** , I’m so glad you’re almost ready to go home. May the time go quickly! **J-Bats** , what thoughtful co-workers! I went to Safeway yesterday to pick up some AAA batteries, a Powerball ticket, and some other odds and ends. I keep forgetting I must ask someone to retrieve the batteries (and the booze, laundry detergent) from a locked cabinet. What a PITA. I don’t live in a dangerous neighborhood, but here we are. After that, I relaxed for a bit, then my husband and I went out to dinner. We went to a Mexican joint that we usually enjoy. It wasn’t bad, but the chips were stale, and it’ll probably be a long while before or if we return. However, it was something to do, and it got us out of the house. I had a Cadillac Marguerita, and my husband had a tequila driver. I have leftovers for lunch. I’ll probably knock out some laundry today, and that’s about all. I may venture out to the mall to see if there is a sale on a particular lotion I like. Okay, on with the day! Take care! ---

It might not be the best time of year for kittens, but at Little Paws HQ, there’s a never-ending supply of them! I prefer them when they’re closer to a year old and have got a little bit of independence about them but still got that kittenish curiosity. The small supermarket I use started putting booze in locked cabinets, it was a good idea but it didn’t last. I suspect they got fed up having to drag staff away from something else every time someone obeyed the instruction to “buzz for booze”, and sometimes you had to wait so long for someone to turn up, they often arrived to find nobody waiting. We had a fun weekend at the last gig of the year. We decided to go to Hereford by train as that was about the same cost as a tank of petrol and the overnight parking charges. We set up the automated feeders for the cats, and then got an Uber to the station. We had two possible routes to get to Hereford so on the outward one, we went north to Shrewsbury and then changed trains there to Hereford. Coming back, we went from Hereford to my usual Big City Station and then home that way. Our hotel for the night was 10 minutes’ walk from the station and right next to Hereford Cathedral which is home to the Chained Library and [Mappa Mundi](https://www.herefordcathedral.org/mappa-mundi). We checked in and went across the road to a nice little pub to wait for our friends to arrive. We met up with them in the pub down the road where the night’s band were performing. The band had just arrived, so we had a quick chat with the guys (and found out the reason they’d had to move from the original venue) then we went next door to a tiny little Thai restaurant for some food before the gig started. While we were waiting for our food, we realised the restaurant is on the route of the Hereford Christmas Tractor Run, so we were entertained by the sight of decorated tractors rolling down the street. Gig time arrived, the pub was packed and the band did a fantastic performance. Much fun was had, and we finally made the two minute walk back to the hotel just after midnight. We were up and out by 11am, our friends were going on to visit family in the area, so we made our way to the station via a breakfast stop on the way. Fortified with tea and food, we caught the train back to Big City Station, got a connection to our home station, and walked into town for a cab home. We’re in, the cats have survived our absence, I’ve unpacked and the laundry’s on. Chilli for dinner tonight, I think! ---

**j bats** you have wonderful cow-irkers. **Swampy** I do not understand the first Queen Victoria joke. I am down with a sinus infection. I started antibiotics November 23 but for some strange reason, I only took four days worth out of a 10 day course. I went to the minute clinic on Wednesday and she gave me another full course and made me promise to take the whole thing. Of course I am compliant. I am staying home today and tomorrow hopefully to shake this thing. ---

Seller and I came to an agreement last night and paperwork was signed - now on to closing! Thanks everyone for the well-wishes. It’s still a bit hard to wrap my head around because buying a house was just really not what I expected to even try to do anytime soon. Afternoon all. Have done nothing useful all morning except check out the Day-Quil bottle (it expired in August 2024 which tells you I’ve had a long run without needing it). Been snacking most of the day and ‘peeing like a horse’, way more than usual. We’ll see if my bladder settles down as I get feeling better. Heading out to watch some tackleball as I do present-wrapping, which shouldn’t take all that long. **Taters** , thanks for mentioning Powerball, have to check my numbers to see if I can recoup anything. And batteries (at least the AAA/AA varieties) are right out in the open at stores around here. So is most of the booze, but I don’t drink so never head off that way. **Boo fae**. sounds like a perfect way to end the band year. **wet one** , hope you get to feeling better soon too. **52** , Whooo Hoo!! Now comes the fun part (for certain degrees of fun…) And tackleball is starting, so I need to re-locate to the TV room and bring the wrapping and tape with me for packaging. I was going to go roujnd anyway to drop the gifts off, so offered a lift to the shops. It was supposed to be a quick trip to Lidl, but turned into.. well.. 4 hours. It could have been worse; the shops actually weren’t as bad as I was expecting, though the traffic was rough. I have my flu jab tomorrow- having finally managed to find somewhere with it in stock, so I’ll be having to get dressed like a grownup then as well, to go into town on the bus rather than slobbing round the house all day \* _plays tiny violin_ \* I may manage to pop into the good wine shop which is 5 minutes walk from the clinic while I’m in the area… ---

**Taters** , I no longer watch boxing or any of the other bashing sports. I used to enjoy them, but now I know about the life-wrecking brain damage they cause. Outdoors, it’s 23 degrees F, rising later to 32. I have a lot of Christmas albums, and I’ve been playing them. Last night, I played _Evergreen_, an album of Christmas music played on mandolins. From the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a Parkinson’s Disease research charity, I got news that Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s are deeply linked. Most patients who have one also have a little of the other. I just heard the NPR Weekend Edition Sunday puzzle for next week, and I think I know the answer. I’ll keep it to myself, for now. … Time has passed. It is now 4:45pm. ---

I cleaned, dusted vacuumed. I took out the trash and recycling. I changed my bedding, and did laundry, now now Spot has a clean comforter in his nap nook. I filled the vermin feeder, and the fat bastard appeared. Howdy Y’all! I was only a partial heathen as I watched the service on the church’s you tube channel. It’s interestin’ to watch now as the livestream has vastly improved. Someone who knows what he’s doin’ took it over and has trained others on how it’s done as well. We et a stoner lunch, napped, day drank and watched some more of _Victoria_ It is a very well done series! **Wetone** hope you feel better soonest. I suggest you look up the term “Prince Albert.” Then you will understand why OYKW said I should go sit in the corner and feel shame. **MetalMouse** hope you feel better soonest as well, especially since you have a long drive ahead of you. **Lucky** I used to make a pretty good make it up as I go lasagna, but gave it up for sto’ bought several years ago due to chronic laziness. Stouffer’s makes a pretty decent one. Marie Callendar, however, should go sit in the corner and feel shame for the atrocity she calls lasagna. **Nuts** you deserve a trip to the good wine store after you get stabbed. Had a disrupted night thanks to the heat pump icing up a little bit again, so I worried about Ollie getting cold. I jumped up a couple times overnight to keep the fire going for him. Then when I finally did get to sleep, I slept too late. Such problems! I did get a jump start on work I need to complete tomorrow and Tuesday, so that will be nice. Other than that, a pretty quiet day. Ok, Ollie is giving me the stink eye that says suppertime has arrived. Maybe more later. 🙂 ---

Ours was the original 1984 breaker box which was out of code but the electrician said was fine. He also said he would happily replace it with a new one, so that’s what we did. Hubs is deaf. Evening all. Was well enough to attend the soccer meeting (but sat away from the rest of the group just to be safe for them) and talked to my brother to finalize details for my trip up there next week. Also changed my reservation on a flight in April which had been moved back to 8am to one that departs about 11am, which is a much saner hour. I also solved both Ken-Ken puzzles and made a dent in the NY TImes Crossword, so I can’t say I was totally inactive, but a much quieter Sunday than most. Bladder seems to be settling down, but will dispose of about a gallon of urine today, which is high. I’ll monitor it to see if it was related to the cold or it it’s worth a Doctors appointment. Temperature is still about 48F and will only drop to 40F tonight with it getting to 60F tomorrow. **red** , bet you are looking forward to being home again. **Nut** , good on ya for devoting 4 hours to seeing that some kids got a Merry Xmas. **Lily** , will await word on the Great Feline Search. **Cookie** , great pic. **BBBoo** , had to re-read the joke but I must admit I got it…blame Robin Williams, he has a skit about it… **Coppertone** , sub sounded good. His predecessor, Lewis, slept with me every night of his life once he was invited into the bed at about the same age as Ollie. He always slept like a person, on his back with the covers pulled up around his neck. Cutest thing ever – I wish I’d gotten a picture, but I didn’t. As for the stupid heat pump, it’s getting old. It works well most of the time, but no heat pump works well in weather colder than about 35F, and here in the PNW, they are more prone to freezing due to our high humidity during those colder nights. If I keep a close eye on when the freezing starts, it will usually defrost in a day. The worst was when I was away from home for a couple of weeks and came home to it looking like a frozen waterfall.
