SenGirl has the flu. The school was closed for two days because it’s going around but she must have picked it up before that. It’s not too bad, she had a fever but that’s down. There was a sleepover for the girls in her class on Saturday but that’s probably out. SenWife may be headed that way. No fever yet but cold like symptoms. SenBoy has a game Saturday so he is hoping to skip out on this one. I’m ok. So far. Knock on synthetic, wood-looking desktops or doors. ---

I didn’t have anything planned for dinner tonight, but I did have a bag of frozen chicken thighs from Trader Joe’s, and a can of green beans. So I thawed and dried the chicken thighs, rubbed them with olive oil, and seasoned them with kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parsley flakes, and baked them in the toaster oven for 22 minutes. I drained the green beansm ,and heated them up with a pinch of kosher salt and some margarine. It was good. ---

Glad to see my fellow PNW’s survived the storm! Holy moly1. Last night, I thought a jet was flying low over the building, only it didn’t seem to be moving. The roar was so loud, I didn’t hear my phone ring. It was a cloudburst, but with high winds, so it was nearly horizontal. I always feel sorry for those whose occupations force them out into such weather. On my walk today, I saw big tree branches scattered about. Tom Rush’s “Wasn’t That a Mighty Storm” is going through my head. **taters** , glad your power wasn’t out for long. I hope your friend’s neighborhood has power back by now. The maintenance guy said the neighbors had moved out, but I heard commotion and saw her kids were maneuvering a loooong sofa out of there. (Pivot! _Pivot_!) So maybe she’s out now. I was brushing my teeth this morning when I heard a weird, creaky sound. It was in the bathroom, but I couldn’t figure out what was making that noise. I was trying not to think of that case in New York where bad guys came through a woman’s medicine cabinet, when CRASH! The creaking was the Command stickums giving way, and a picture falling to the floor. The frame was already on its way to frame heaven. (Where the guy whose photo is in all those frames spends the afterlife.) The picture is one my daughter drew when she was little and that I think looks like a ~~Gramma~~ Granddaughter Moses. It wasn’t damaged. **swampy** , we walked all over the place in my youth, too. It meant freedom. My sister says there was a kids’ world, and parents pretty much kept out. Kids today have parents who are too afraid to let them wander unsupervised. I blame all those milk cartons. I read about people who called 911 because kids were walking unsupervised from a playground to their home. They were 10 and 12, I think. The neighbors thought that was awfully irresponsible of their parents. Anyway, there’s no separate kids’ world now. It’s sad. **MetalMouse** , do you have a set pattern for dinners, like Jersey Mike’s on Mondays, mac and cheese on Tuesdays, or are you all impromptu? Just curious. The Cat Distribution System will have seen this and is already vetting suitable applicants… Yesterday turned out to be a bit frustrating. Little Paws HQ said the pallet delivery was any time between 10am and 5pm, then Di said she’d message me when it arrived. She didn’t message me and I didn’t want to keep hassling her, so now I don’t know if the pallet arrived or not, whether she needed help or not, and I am litter-less. Never mind, I know where the pet store is…. The Travel Gods were somewhat capricious today. The bus I went out for didn’t turn up, and the next one was extremely full. It also broke down, fortunately at the stop before the one I usually get off at, so I hopped off early and walked the extra distance to the station. All the trains were delayed too, I got on a busy one and managed to find a seat so that was a bonus. Got to Big City Station just as the campus train was coming in and got to the office not too long after I should have logged in. I’ve had breakfast, I’ve got a cup of tea, and I’ve caught up on everything I missed from the College xmas party yesterday. Still glad I didn’t go! ---

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 65 with rain to start around eleven a.m. and then the rest of the day. We shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up and then be inside and dry for the rest of the day. **Sensei** hope Sengirl is feelin’ better soonest and that the rest of y’all avoid the flu. **Lily** happy cat distribution. **red** so the daily menu is pretty much “this is the menu for the day. Or not. The kitchen is willy-nilly.” Everyone in the PNW stay safe. Hope no one is hurt or impacted by the storms. Now I need more caffeine and to eat a little sump’n so I can take meds. Then I suppose I will purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. However, the patronage of Eggs Up do seem a bit more civilized and sanitary. Happy Thursday Y’all! ---

The big, padded kitchen mats are in the trash. I suggested that Mrs. Nott get some padded shoes instead, and she threw out the mats. Ads for cushiony shoes are everywhere, and can she turn down the opportunity to buy shoes? I don’t think so.
