(Old) Your first furniture in the MMP

OMG - Roxy would go bat-crap crazy over those! But I can’t do that to her mom - the walls would be covered, and the doors, and the windows, and Tobias…

We’re starting with 71 Ferrets and by Weds, we could be flirting with triple digits again. Or not. Weather is so unpredictable. Like we may or may not get rain today. My plans involve my sewing machine as well as a needle and thread. When we were at the boat yesterday, I realized the curtain I bought is 4" too long. I’ve already ripped out the old hem and today it will be cut off and re-hemmed. Plus I looked at one of the other curtains and figured out how the slides should be put on. I figure 2 or 3 hours of work there.

I’m also thinking I should make chickie salad, so I should pull a couple of frozen parts out to thaw. No thoughts yet beyond that. So there could be an adventure ahead. Or something on TV. Into the unknown!!!

Happy Sunday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 25c/77f with a predicted high of 27c/81f and sunny. Weather app says “If you’re hoping for fucking cute phrases like “life’s a beach”, this is not the fucking app for you.”

Have a great time just relaxing and doing whatever you feel like. You deserve a break, and your back will thank you for it.

JBats you are a good person and despite your own circumstances, you still did the right thing. We need more people like you in the world.

Mollie I’m sorry that you had to miss your meeting, but thank you for posting those pics. You look absolutely radiant! The hair looks fabulous too, and that smile says it all

JtC you are also high on the list of Good People, I’m sure your friend and her critters were extremely grateful that you were on hand to help.

doggio it looks like your building might be in line to hit a couple more of those trees soon if you get some seriously high winds. I hope Spot got enough gin to calm his shattered nerves. How long before Onan comes knocking on the door demanding his tribute?

Yesterday was a busy one but stuff got done so it was productive. 'im indoors made Chinese chicken curry with egg-fried rice for dinner, we had some ice-cold Cava and watched a couple of films. The aircon unit kept the bedroom blissfully cool and I had a fairly decent sleep. I got up to feed the cats earlier, opened the windows to get some of the cool breeze through the house, and went back to bed where it was an ideal temperature for me.

Now I’m up and drinking tea while I get on with the important stuff. I’ve managed to find a new catsitter who has availability in August which means we can book a trip for ourselves. Looks like it’ll be the Eurostar over to Brussels, then a couple of days in Antwerp and a couple of days in Ghent before a relaxing train journey home.

That means I need to fill out paperwork for the new sitters, arrange for them to come here and meet us (while the cats play hide and seek), and give them spare keys. I’ll get the house keys and alarm fob back from our Kitty Angel next week so will hand that over to the new ones.

I have no big plans for today aside from tending to the needs of cats, trimming my nails, having a soak in a very cool bath, and making chicken curry for dinner. I have mushrooms and spinach to use up so that works well for a curry.

Well, you have revenge planned in advance if your daughter pisses you off.

Also, now I’m picturing Otis wandering around, covered in rainbow stickers.

And Trevor, their lab. And their cars. And slow-moving neighborhood kids…

Morning all. Have broken fast and think I’ll do some exploring, going up to Port Clinton as there are lighthouses and an animal park. May then ride a ferry(ferries) to some of the nearby islands, even if I don’t get off it should be scenic. Otherwise I will see what else there is to do.

I am still reading all (you go Mollie and enjoy your vacation Vango are all I can remember right now) and many thanks for the kind comments. Will be looking forward in about a week really corresponding with y’all again.

Good morning.

It’s 54F and mostly clear outside. Today is expected to be partly to mostly sunny, with a high of 77°F. It was only supposed to reach about 77°F yesterday, but we topped out at 80°F. The next few days will be progressively warmer, with temperatures climbing to a high of 87F by Wednesday.

Mollie, I like the hair! Lookin’ good!

VanGo, have a fantastic vacation! You’ve been working hard and need one!

Metal Mouse, I’m glad you’re checking in with us. It sounds like you’re mostly enjoying yourself, and that’s good.

JtC, you are a true friend! What you did for TC friend was very kind.

Doggio, I saw the pic of the tree/building collision. I hope something is done sooner rather than later.

BrightTree, I have to admit, the avocado/chocolate mousse thing intrigued me. I like avocado, and it doesn’t surprise me that it was good. I put chopped avocado in my tossed salads because I don’t use dressing. It adds a bit of creaminess.

I was pretty busy for the first part of the day yesterday, but I never did wash the walls in prep for painting. I put the cover plates for the light switch and outlet back on in the guest room, cleaned the kitchen and swept the floors (I actually sweep twice a day because…dogs), weeded, weed-whacked, mowed, watered posies, and assorted other chores. I guess today we’ll get started on the guest room, or at least prepare for it.

That’s about it for the plans today. Please take care of yourselves, and for those of you on the road, please be careful.

I feel like I saw it recently, so maybe I still have it. If it pops up, I’ll try to remember to take a picture.

Yay! I sometimes have issues with too much milk fat, so having alternatives is good.

That’s the spirit! And we get pictures!

:star_struck:

Sorry, link doesn’t work for me. :upside_down_face: I keep extra hair ties with my glasses, since I often carry sunglasses and/or reading glasses with me as well. Just never with metal!

ETA - 2nd link works. At least I’m learning makeup tips, which I probably won’t use since I haven’t bought foundation since early 90s. Which reminds me. I removed the blue nailpolish a few weeks ago from my toes, but haven’t put any new color. I think it’s time to get out the polish.

IME, when gifting children with stickers, a bottle of Goo Gone for the parents is appreciated.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. On the agenda today is picking up a couple of prescriptions and a bit of mending. Other than that, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Cleaning continues.
Me: < finishes making bed just as Spot walks in room > “Imma gonna call you ‘Leftovers’, because you’ve been foiled!”
Spot: “Pffft. I will merely find another way to inconvenience you.”

The rest of them are healthy, just that one was dead. And there’s a chance of thuderstoms today.

He’s out there now, staring at me.

Well, the trick is to remove it without wrecking the building.

After yesterday’s chores, the best preparation might be “close the door, and pretend we don’t have a guest room”.

Good morning. Mrs Magill and Squeaky got to my sister’s last evening a little later than she wanted. She bypassed the I-40 mess by going through Hot Springs and got stuck behind some poindexter who was afraid of mountain roads. My father took them to Big Ed’s for breakfast. She sent me a pic of Squeaky eating a pancake as big as his head.

Chloé and I walked this morning. Two rabbits declined her offer of best friendship. I have resolved to spend the next two weeks working on my voice. I don’t want “trans voice,” so I’ve found some tutorials that I’ll work on during my morning walks.

We’re under a heat advisory. Presently 83 but feels like 94. The AC isn’t really able to keep up with this, so I’m going to have to turn on some fans.

Breakfast was cornmeal pancakes topped with fresh peaches and maple syrup. I’m in my pre-coma state.

Sheets and towels laundry this afternoon.

The Spousal Unit didn’t want me to make breakfast, so I ate four or five stalks of celery with a little take-out container (about a tablespoon) of ranch dressing I found in the fridge. And a small bowl of chile colorado with cheese.

There’s a feed after church. I know they’ll have very little that is on my diet. But I’ll find something. I’m making TJ’s salmon pinwheels for dinner. The Missus said, ‘Well, I guess I won’t eat much at the church.’ Her eating habits are weird.

The curtain is ready to be hung! Otis has an appt for a pedicure in about half an hour. After, we’ll go by the boat with the curtain and the shelf that FCD had to modify. Then, I guess, it’ll be back home.

Something that perplexes me - when a reporter asks a question and the interviewee goes off on a tangent in order to avoid the question, then why doesn’t the interviewer follow up with “But that doesn’t answer my question.” Seriously - why do they let people get away with that nonsense?

You should be able to find a decent vocal coach in the Nashville area.

Potluck at church. Brought home lasagna, chicken, pasta salad.

1978, antique mahogany dresser. I was married to a very ill alcoholic, and during our divorce, he sold it, probably for drink. I had a court order for him to release my property (which he ignored). He had lost his job, no getting blood out of turnip, etc. It was not all that valuable (paid about 100 for it), but I had skimped and saved and it was a handsome piece of furniture, probably 1910.

I’m torn. I remembered my Hyundai app will give me diagnostic codes, so I checked it. DTC U130E87 - Air flap problem. According to the Hyundai forums, this DTC gets thrown when the car loses communication with the charging system and tends to fix itself. It should be okay to drive. I think I’ll take it to yoga this afternoon as a test.

I don’t think cars are very good at yoga, that’s not a fair test.

I don’t want it to be Moanday tomorrow… Where did the weekend go?

Today is another splendid day in the PNW. I got up around 2:30 a.m. and flung the slider open in my bedroom, curious bears be damned, just to get a jump on cooling the house down. It wasn’t hot by normal people’s standards, but it was by mine. It was about 50Ferrets when I did that, stayed under 64F until around 10:45 a.m. and is now climbing slowly to a forecast high of 83F. Ollie seemed very glad to snuggle under his throw on the sofa after breakfast this morning.

I’ve seen the recipe around for years, but had no inducement to try it. My reluctance came from having grown up with the best avocados on the planet produced from a prolific tree in my grandmother’s side yard. I’ve never had any to rival them. Anyway, I’ve made hundreds of bowls of guacamole, eaten many straight out of the rind with no accompaniment, sliced them over all sorts of Latin style foods and added them to salads. I love their delicate flavor, but in my mind, they’re intended to pair with savory type foods or be eaten as a stand alone. I just could not wrap my brain around avocado/chocolate/honey. But intellectually, I understood the point you’re making, JtC.

The other thing I worried about is the honey I buy is extremely floral. I worried the flavor would overwhelm the dessert. At first it seemed it would, but then after a chilling spell of about 3 hours, everything mellowed together into a truly delicious concoction! I make regular chocolate pudding from scratch, so felt I had a good basis for comparison. The avocado version holds up! My friends were pretty surprised when I revealed the secret ingredient, but they loved it and asked for the recipe. A rare diet recipe win!

Onan scares me a little.

Our windy days are rare, so when they happen, they tend to bring down whatever has weakened in the interim. I move around in the house to sleep according to the wind direction on those days.

I hesitate to share that a tree that recently came down on my place was as healthy as it could be. It was a still day and it just… fell over. Made a whomp racket I could hear from 200 yards away. Disturbing, but it could have been worse. I could have been under it.

This sounds like a day perfectly spent! Enjoy every minute, BooFae!

I shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was.

I hope the guest room work goes well! I wish I had half your ambition.

Happy cake day, @knavette57! The furniture piece sounds like it was quite a loss to you. Exes suck.

Good luck with the car issues, Mollie! And have fun at yoga.

Not much doing today around Casa Glow. Ollie is snoring away, seeming none the worse for wear for having consumed some cherry pits yesterday. I don’t know why he loves those things, but he does. I hate to but I might have to muzzle him on future visits to my friends’ place. He’s like a heat-seeking missile with them, and there are lots of pits for him to find.

Some minor house irk was accomplished in the cool morning. And there’s a load of laundry sloshing away.

I should have gone to a book group I belong to today, but one outing per weekend is plenty of socializing. I’ll catch them next month. Maybe.

There are still two avocados in the fridge. Hmmm.

Catch everyone later – have a day that makes you happy!

Seems to be a theme in recent MMP posts.

I gotta scoop up Carless and close again tonight. Plus now on Sunday nights we gotta do our own dish pit - long story - and I friggin’ HATE that task even more than cleaning a fryer.

Recently I’ve foisted off those tasks successfully (“Ya wanna deal with the drunk guy at the window?” “Uhhh … d’you mind handling him? I’ll get started in the back.” "Sure  ") but I dunno how long I can keep getting away with that.

It’s so hot our walk-in freezer can barely keep up. I have half of a biiiiiig popsicle stashed, so I can grab a quick bite now & then to cool off, and by early evening last couple of days, it was … not very frozen.

Bleh. Bleh, I say!

ETA: but I get to surprise Sprinkles with her metric buttload of stickers today. I’m so looking forward to her joy.
