Olives: green or black?

I love green olives stuffed with Gorgonzola.

I didn’t vote because the canned black olives are ooky once you have tried kalamata olives. The same goes for the standard green olives in a jar. There are delicious olives out there but I say standard supermarket olives are ooky.

Where are calamata olives classified? They’re kind of green, kind of black.

I seem to only like black olives…warm and in a tomato sauce or pizza.

That’s it…

I can’t stand them cold.

No vote, my choice wasn’t there:

Both!

neither, olives are disgusting orbs of yuck. and once I saw what had to be done just to make the damn things edible, any chance that I would try them ever again just evaporated.

Well, there are so many varieties that “green” and “black” really don’t narrow it down much.

Wikipedia has a short list of major varieties.

I vote for this.

None of the above. Yeech, Olives are about the only common food that trigger a gag reflex on me.

I voted green because to me “black olives” means the ones in a can. I got in a confusing exchange with my wife because she included Kalamata olives as black olives and I don’t. Those can be reddish or purplish, and are very good, better than green (but I still like green).

I suspect BellRung et al was thinking of canned black olives when they made the poll.

I used to love both. Much to my dismay, black olives are now on my “weird-tasting foods” list due to my gall-bladder surgery in 2008. Some food, mainly red and purple (for some bizarre reason) have an odd, almost soapy taste to them. Canned tomato paste, cranberry and apple juice (apples period for that matter), grape juice (sigggggh, I never drank juice all that often, but grape juice was one of my favorites), and black olives.

Luckily green olives still taste normal and delicious.

I voted “black” but I think of kalamata as black. Some of my favoiurites though, from the self selection in Tescos, are green olives with slices of lemon.

Black olives, please. Green olives can be okay, if they are stuffed with garlic.

Of course, I have liked black olives since I was little and my dear, darling godfather taught me how to put them on my fingertips and eat them off one at a time…He, my cousins, and I all got carted off to the kids’ table at Nan’s house after that little incident…

Both!

Most kids manage to figure out that black olives will fit on fingers just fine on their own.

Michael was the world’s biggest kid…so he decided to show us before we had a chance to do it ourselves…My cousin Georgianna and my mother were trying to teach Dawn and I how to be “perfect little ladies :dubious:” and eat olives with a fork…

Oh, I see. He was the Cool Godfather/Uncle/Big brother, always willing to be a bad example.

Green olives stuffed with little garlic cloves. My stomach loves me, my ex-girlfriend did not.

I like them both. In fact, with the exception of red Cerignola olives, I like them all.

Love em all. But voted green.

My fav pizza is pepperoni, onion, jalapenos, artichoke hearts and of course, green olive.
