Sadly, there was not a good old-fashioned mountain beatdown last night. There was, however, a good old-fashioned staredown when Crazy Chick came back to the house when all of us were in the kitchen making Stuff Which Goes In Tortillas. The temperature of the room dropped noticeably from all the icy starin’ going on. Crazy Chick decided discretion was the better part of valor and hid in “her” room rather than face a bunch of people who do not like her. Other than that there were good times had by all. There was eatin’ and drinkin’ and sing-alongs and crazy dancin’ in the kitchen. And somehow I ended up with the remains of the cake, which only the two-year-old ate. I shall have a piece of it for breakfast (we eat healthy here!) and then donate the rest of it to the cause. The cause being the breakroom at irk. ---

Good morning! I think I mentioned it yesterday but the HFUN girls are coming to bake with me today. We’re going to do bread dough and make it into a few different things such as pizza and cinnamon rolls and we’re also going to make chocolate chip cookies. If I’m completely repeating myself, please forgive my foggy brain. Funny story from yesterday… I went clothes shopping and decided to try on a bra. Well, I got it hooked and was turning it around to put it the rest of the way on (no, I’m not talented enough to put it on and then hook it in the back) and all of a sudden the seam let loose and it ripped in two! I can’t even begin to tell you how embarrassing it was to have to go talk to the clerk and apologize profusely. :o I left the store very quickly after that. Ok, gotta go get started here with the stuff that needs to be done before the HFUNs arrive. Hope everyone has a great Sunday! ---

Back from breakfast. \*\*FCD \*\*is napping - he had a bad night. I’m going to make a batch of peach jam in a little bit - just waiting to see if by some chance we get some crabbers. But considering the weather and the harvest lately, I expect not. It’s dreary, drizzly, and pretty much miserable out there. ---

So, I’m back from my little excursion into town. Pop cans have been redeemed, a croissant has been eaten, coffee has been drunk, and Pez candy has been bought. I got plenty of lemon and orange Pez’s because they’re my sister’s favourites. It’s hard to find the orange ones - they’re always buried deep in the box. (Is “Pez’s” the correct plural of “Pez?”) ---

Well, that was exciting. I was just getting started and I realized I was short on pectin, so I had to run to the store. And now, with the jars in the bath, I discovered that the pectin I bought isn’t the low-sugar pectin. I guess worst case is my jam won’t set properly. And **Midget** , yes, I think your pez-eating-moose sentence is perfectly cromulent! 😃 ---

Oh no! I don’t want to alarm anyone needlessly, but **Spiderman** ’s at a hot air balloon festival near here and I just heard that there was a balloon crash there. I hope he’s okay. ☹ (I don’t think anyone was killed, but one person was seriously hurt. The news didn’t give many more details than that.) ---

In “Pez candy”, Pez acts as an adjective and it pluralizes as “Pez”. OTOH if it was the Spanish noun from which the brand derives, meaning “fish”, it would pluralize as _peces_. They’re called “fish candy” because of the dispensers, which open and close their mouths “like a fish”. I, too, have spoken. I am glad **Mr Parker** is ok. ---

Found a room! _does happy dance_ It’s actually the one I thought sounded dodgy from the ad- it looked like it was a single, older guy, and the initial response sort of brought to mind the house I briefly lived in where the guy didn’t want a housemate, he wanted a replacement for his Thai bride who’d run away, but when I got there it was nothing like that. The guy owns the place, but he’s about my age, and there’s 2 other tenants, 2 kitties (which means I can’t take the mice ☹ however, I’m less concerned about not taking them now as mine’s not going to be going anywhere ☹ ☹ as her tumour’s come back ☹ ☹ ☹ so it’ll just be the ex-housemate’s two mice, which I’m not as attached to), and he and seems really nice and laid back about the whole thing. The house is chaos, but it seems to be friendly chaos, and I can live with that. Paid the deposit already, and I’m moving in on the 24th, so I have a week to get all my stuff there- the fish tanks are both coming, and they’re a nightmare to move, so I thought a few extra days would make it less stressy.
