OMG!!...I've heard fish jumping in boat stories..

Actually Orca’s have also been known to “play” with seals for shits 'n giggles. Unfortunately for the seal, this can mean a very long, slow and frightening death getting battered. (Saw the most depressing footage of two orcas tossing a baby seal around like they were playing water polo.)

But then, since we don’t have the complete footage, for all we know the guy was chomped in half on the second pass…

Yeah, that exact behavior was mentioned in the link I posted** Eats_Crayons**.

Lest non one forget that whales scratch itches by Breaching - the exact thing that was depicted in the video. Having worked with Beluga Whales and Dolphins whilst in College, I can say that the Orca does rank quite high on the intelligence scale. I would say that whale in the footage was playing, not hunting, or scratching an itch.

Furthermore, I wish I could find the footage, but I’ve seen footage of a pod of orca ripping 55-gallon drum sized bits of flesh off a sick blue whale. Something they would not normally have done had the whale been healthy. It was gruesome footage but it is nature nontheless.

Phlosphr I bow to your greater experience of this matter. Thank you for being civil.

This entire thread in meaningless unless this is included.

Who knew whales liked guzzling cheap beer and eating Fritos with bean dip…

That’s impressive!

Just imagine the whale back at the pod:

How the heck did he manage to stay in the kayak? I have a vague notion that experienced kayakers do learn to roll back over if they’ve been flipped… but hatchee matchee, that guy must have been glued in!

Unfortunately, snopes has listed this as False - it’s actually a Japanese commercial for some kind of energy drink
