We’re talking about emoticons accompanying message board posts, about 99% of which are inconsequential. Are we really so full of ourselves that we think most posts here are literary masterpieces whose deep, complex meaning would be affected by something so minor as a change in the color of a smiley? God forbid a future upgrade or software change brings with it a change in line spacing, or a new default font. “But I intended to use Trebuchet, and now that Arial is the default, my old post conveys an entirely different message!” ---
