I mean really, if you have to reach for an emoticon to express strong opinions, Iโ€™d say you need to work on your language. Itโ€™s unfortunate that vBulletin didnโ€™t offer an option for varying smilie sets by post date, but only a little. That would sparked ATMB drama as well. Incidentally2, the new smilies have larger image files: the old ones used a narrower color pallet and were probably designed for dialup modems. Though since they are all cached anyway, it matters little. ---

There are tentative plans for Firefox to implement color emoji on all platforms, which would bypass the font issues. Of course, thatโ€™s not going to be added to the Firefox 3.6 branch. (Early on, back when emoji were new (aka 2009 or so), there were addons designed to add emoji support, but they use an older system that isnโ€™t used anymore.) ---
