Move one county south and ICE won’t have that problem. The High Sheriff of Pierce County — who, IIRC, once led a team which included an officer who threatened to “kick the shit out of” a Mexican American who was lying on the ground — [is on a collision course](https://www.yahoo.com/news/pierce-county-exec-sheriff-odds-121500675.html) with a County Council resolution committing the county to full compliance with the Keep Washington Working Act (which protects the privacy and civil rights of all Washington residents regardless of immigration status). Noted Constitutional law expert (/s) Swank has declared the act “unconstitutional.” ---

I sometimes worry about conflict with my state agency, who I’m sure assists undocumented people on occasion, and the federal government with people like Swank who are eager to support them. If I lived in a civilization where reason and good will predominated, I’d be more inclined to talk things out before calling the cops (the exception being overtly criminal behavior). He’s a parent. When some kid picks on your child at the playground, you go and have a word with their parents. It’s normal parent behavior. Unfortunately, parents often forget that kids grow up, and that sometimes they get big enough to kill you with a baseball bat. ---

Caveat: I understand that “aggravated assault” is the charge that the _police_ laid on “the teen” (am I the only one bemused that the report doesn’t specify the gender of the teen who has been charged?), and is unlikely to have been a term used by the dead father when he confronted his daughter’s assailant. Until and unless the details of the fracas between the teens comes to light, I’ll be content to hold my initial comment in abeyance. ---

That is not a “you need to be grounded” sort of offense. That’s a serious crime. Going to confront someone about this is not parenting, it’s being a vigilante. ---
