“Non-binary” could also mean that they consider themselves male in some way but female in other ways, or that they consider themself to be firmly one particular gender, but a gender other than male or female, or that they reject the existence of the entire notion of gender, among other possibilities. Some NB people might consider themselves trans, and some trans people might consider themselves NB, but it’s quite possible to be one without the other. And, of course, all too many members of society at large lump both NB and trans people together into the category of “people who need to be beat up”. ---
