Most psychopaths learn early on that violent/criminal encounters with others leads to hassles for them with the law. They tend to dislike such hassles so avoid such behavior. It’s the sadistic or otherwise personality-disordered psychopaths that are the biggest problem amongst the psychopathic population. Sadly there are enough of those around to really add to the prison population. Most criminal violence is perpetrated by the personality-disordered, with or without psychopathy or mental illness. ---

I would (although I am not an expert) place psychopathy on the “not” end of the spectrum. A number of psychopaths and sociopaths have children - in another thread Dennis Rader was mentioned. Aside from the huge amount of trauma his son and daughter must be suffering, neither are a psychopath. ---

You might want to have a chat with [this woman](https://www.wsj.com/health/wellness/i-always-knew-i-was-different-i-just-didnt-know-i-was-a-sociopath-68ebe08b), who claims to have overcome her own sociopathy and is an advocate for her fellow sociopaths. The idea that there are millions of sociopaths with productive jobs and contented social relationships is admittedly just a bit hard to accept, unless they’ve learned to be really good actors who can readily simulate human emotions. ---

There’s not a super clear line of demarcation and neither is an official psychiatric diagnosis. They’re both considered part of the spectrum of [antisocial personality disorder](https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/psychopath-sociopath-differences). ---

This happened not too far from where I live (a nearby town). Data from Jones’ vehicle reportedly showed he was traveling 112 mph when prosecutors said he ran a red light at the intersection, “at full throttle without braking.” > > The documents said investigators found this was Jones’ third vehicle he has totaled in a crash involving high speeds in 11 months.
