Which is interesting given the rightwing conspiracy theory that ‘the libs’ want to round up all the conservatives and put them into Walmart concentration camps. Curiously, I’ve never seen a single quote from anyone advocating this. On the other hang we have a sitting member of Congress proudly saying “I do want to ‘ethnic cleanse’ by deporting white progressive Democrats” and the Right is, as far as I know, silent. ---

Yeah, this one has been around for some time, but it’s been getting louder in recent years (I have a close relative who is my gauge for what the prominent MAGA talking points are at a given time). Yes, it’s ironic. And it’s also why the mad panic to suborn the districting and voting processes is in full feverish implementation now. And why the ongoing love for winner-take-all primaries and for the EC. You don’t need 50%+1 of the population at large on your side if you can subdivide things so you get 50%+1 of the reps with only e.g. 30% of the votes. It’s the exact same thinking, and many of the same techniques, that enable a founding family to retain total control over a giant corporation despite only owning 10% of the shares. If that many. ---

When I lived in Chicago I had a few friends who would help me out with errands such as trips to Sam’s Club so I could stock up on things. However, if I wanted to go downtown I was on my own; they wouldn’t drive there at gunpoint. Fortunately the CTA (public transit) could take me there easily enough that this was not a problem. ---
