But you can accept gifts from constituents for actions performed while performing your job as an elected official. Like, accepting a gift from a grateful contractor after steering city contracts his way. It’s perfectly fine AFTER - it’s only bribery if the gift was given BEFORE. So, you see, Clarence is all good! Nothing to see here! Who do these assholes think they are kidding? 😡 ---

ETA: Oh, by “his” did you mean that the defendant’s mother was also sentenced to life for something else years ago, or that the wife of the defendant, mother of the recent dead kid, was also sentenced to life here recently?
