But they’d also deny in public that the term “mega-church” is self-aggrandizing. The claim would be that it’s God who’s mega, and if God chose humble little them as His primary servant on Earth, well shucks, that’s not THEIR doing. ---

And about his wife: “She doesn’t know about my girlfriend, or that man I met last night.” That song was inspired by a mid-century evangelist, still living in the early 1990s, named Ernest Angley. He was married, and he got in the news in the 1970s when a couple from his Bible college that he had united in holy matrimony revealed to each other, several years into the marriage, that he had raped both of them. IIRC the statue of limitations had expired by the time this came to light, but as could be expected, they weren’t his only victims. ---
