Big controversy on Pawley’s Island (near Pawley’s shore). Registered sex offender allowed to work around children at a church (and against the terms of his probation). At least some of the top church officials knew about it and kept it quiet, since of course nobody’s perfect. The pastor’s wife was apparently the guy’s power of attorney for some reason. But somebody at the church refused to be a “good Christian” and went to the press about it. I watch a number of YouTube videos showing people being arrested and that happens often in them. The most recent I can think of is showing a Texas couple vacationing in Florida who left their infant unattended in a small tent on a very hot beach for almost an hour. They were told they had to spend a night in jail before posting bond the next day, and this arrest happened right in the middle of the day. That doesn’t seem super unreasonable; you can’t always count on a judge being available immediately. Which doesn’t mean that they aren’t desperately trying to deflect from the culpability of the church in the first place.
