My parents’ pastor said that people like that like to _worship_ Jesus but don’t like to _follow_ him. I would use the word “fetishize” myself, but it’s an apt observation. ---

Reading between the lines, I got the impression that when Paul wrote > Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says it was directed at one particular woman in Corinth who wouldn’t shut up when he was trying to preach, and everyone in the church at Corinth knew exactly who he was talking about, but unfortunately it ended up being taken down as a general rule. ---
