Organizer Torben Sondergaard is the man promoting his “Big Tent Revival” events on social media.
:snip:
“We have sent a letter to the President of the United States to ask for his help,” Sondergaard said on Facebook. “I’m asking all Americans to pray now for a supernatural intervening to stop this Socialist Agenda before we become like China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, or Iran.”
I don’t know why he chose to set up shop in Illinois, but here’s hoping that the people and the mayor of Des Plaines, and our governor make quick work of that fucking nutjob.
Strange, since Trump so loves Russia…
Worked fine On my iPad-detecting a theme here…
(Meaning IOS vs.Android maybe, because it sure isn’t operator skill cause I ain’t got none)
Kind of reminds me here in Topeka, KS, of when Fred Phelps set up shop here. He wasnot originally from Kansas, but from Mississippi. He took a call to be an assistant pastor at a church here, and eventually was asked to leave. He set up his own church and stayed, but still talked about how evil Topeka was.
The Methodist Campground could’ve made even quicker work of this yahoo by not letting him use their land. I’m puzzled – shocked, really – why they sided with this yutz, as (1) the Methodists are generally not on the snake-handling anti-science side of Christianity and (2) when I lived in Des Plaines, the Methodist Campground seemed to be a good neighbor to the community.
FYI, this fool has moved on, at least as of Monday the 4th. That didn’t stop Des Plaines from citing the Methodist Campground for the earlier violations. Local news article.
They rented their space to someone to hold some form of Christian meeting. Prior to him proving that he was a yahoo, they probably didn’t have any good way of finding out in advance. Once he proved himself a yahoo, they likely had few options to deal with him and probably none with immediate effect.
So I’m going to give the Campground a pass here. Hopefully the yahoo will have a hard time finding space anywhere in the future, now that he has been outed.
But, but…the President said wearing masks is now patriotic?
# Almost 100 people in Ohio were infected with coronavirus after man attended church service
A man with Covid-19 went to church in mid-June, then 91 other people got sick, including 53 who were at the service, according to Ohio’s governor.
“It spread like wildfire, wildfire. Very, very scary,” Gov. MIke De Wine said Tuesday. “We know that our faith-based leaders want nothing more than to protect those who come to worship.”
Hey thanks for the further info!
No they don’t. Otherwise they would never have allowed this in the first place.
I think it’s more like:
“We know that our faith-based leaders want nothing more than to protect the offering plate and make sure donations are up.”
Coupled with “If they don’t come here on a regular basis, they might find something they actually enjoy doing more and the imprinting will fade away”.
Pretty sure this guy was mentioned in this thread or another one earlier. His wife has now died.
The guy realizes the mistakes he made, and he lost his wife, so I don’t want to pile on, but ffs …
“We thought the government was using it to distract us …”
“The government?” Who, exactly? The Trump administration? The DeSantis Republicans running Florida? The Pelosi-led House, somehow sneaking it past the Senate and the President’s veto?
I literally can’t fathom how stupid some people are.
It is people who use Facebook shares as their primary or only news source.
No, it’s not about where they get their news – it’s about their inability to apply even the slightest critical thinking to it.
They hear: “The government is using COVID to distract us.”
Someone with two working brain cells asks, “The government? Wait a sec, we elected Trump. Doesn’t he run ‘the government’? Why would Trump use COVID to distract us? Do they mean the state of Florida? No, we have a Republican governor, too. Hey, you know what? That whole thing doesn’t make any sense.”
Instead, they just nod their heads and say, “Yup,” as if “the government” is some nebulous blob that exists to create distractions for them outside the entities Trump and DeSantis run.
Deep state actors conspiring against the good and righteous Trump, of course.
Those people had power over him.
It’s not just in the USA: " Evangelical churches hit hard by coronavirus in Latin America as many flout guidelines.".
