Great entertainment for the locals. I live along the Bay of Fundy. For those unaware, our tides are around 50feet and the water comes in (and out) at an amazing rate. There’s a beautiful but very rural beach nearby. When the tide is out it’s probably a half kilometre wide and flat. Six hours later when the tide is in it isn’t (a beach). Couple of nitwits from away decided to drive their Jeep Wrangler along the beach a few years ago during low but incoming tide. Anyone who’s ever walked a beach can tell you that there’s hard spots and soft spots. They found a soft spot. Oops. But the tide was still out(ish) so they walked to the nearest building to ask for help. By the time they returned - maybe a half hour - the jeep was half underwater. The locals all sat up on the dunes and watched as it disappeared. The crowd increased a bit six hours later when the Jeep reappeared. We all enjoyed watching the process of dragging it out, especially since the nit-wit had left it in gear and with the wheels cranked in one direction. Amazingly, they managed to start it and unlock the wheels. I saw it go by the house on a flatbed not too long after. Must have put a damper on the vacation, but entertained us locals for an entire day. Classic example of FAFO ---

Not to ruin a perfectly acceptable BBQ Pit thread, but here’s our beach. You can walk out quite a distance when the tide is out. When the tide’s in, you can wade quite a distance in waist-deep water. The shallowness makes it a warm place to swim in Summer. I’m pretty much the same as you (prairie and mountain landlubber), but I have family near Birch Bay so I know that areas tides. There are some low tides over -3’ coming mid-May which is low for there and makes for great tide flats expeditions. Sounds like Bay of Fundy has them in the 50’ range so it must vary significantly. ---

And, yet again, [a high school “prom-posal” showcases the couple’s racism](https://www.yahoo.com/now/illinois-high-school-promposal-goes-164439338.html). Prom?” Yeah, right. So, apparently the only career option for Blacks in Kane County, Illinois is picking cotton. And the article goes on to say “some students have called the promposal racist”. Some? WTF? Yes, it’s racist. There’s no questio that it’s racist. That’s why they did it. They’re bigots. Bigots do racist things. And if the schools want this stupidity to stop, they need to go the expulsion route, not just banning these idiots from the prom. ---

I am going to tell you that this may be an issue of immaturity, and that teenagers are immature. Maybe (probably) they learned this stuff at home or sitting in the stands at sports events, but chances are decent that at least some of them will grow up and change. Not to say there shouldn’t be consequences. Rather than expelling them, though, I think I might be in favor of some form of public service hours where they would be exposed to the cumulative effects of institutional racism (i.e. critical race theory) on real people leading real lives. Something educational, in other words. ---
