Eh. Black people comprise less than 3% of the population of the town. I’m not going to judge them harshly for doing what marginalized people have done for nearly all of recorded history - played along to get along. Odds are they learned from a young age not to make waves in the community. ---

…yeah, because that’s how we think of rival teams in this country. Not by the school or town name or by the mascot but by jersey color. To be fair, plus points for trotting out the “taken out of context” excuse than totally flailing. But minus points for providing such an asinine context ---

To be clear(er), I wasn’t blaming them, just trying to understand how that would work. Then I realized it was high school, and yeah, pressure to conform is immense. I do hope that they are having some interesting conversations with their parents and/or others about this. I also hope (against hope) that this might have a beneficial effect on how the history of US slavery is taught in the district. ---

Went to a doctor for horrible pain in my elbow. They thought the joint might be infected and that could lead to amputation. Great. They asked me my pain level. I tried to move my elbow a little bit, nearly fell out of the chair and broke out in a sweat. The doctor told me that it’s a level 10, and sent me to the ER. The elbow is fine now. Nobody really knows what the problem was. ---
