I’ve seen a couple of unlit cyclists about in the early hours. (I’m lit up like a Christmas tree and wear neon yellow. I don’t want the last thing I ever hear to be, “But I didn’t see him!”) Mostly, I see early morning joggers on the streets wearing black; that just boggles my mind. ---

And less impressive. [3mg is enough for a fatal dose](https://www.statnews.com/2016/09/29/why-fentanyl-is-deadlier-than-heroin/). That would make the amount seized 12,000mg or 12kg. ---

Per the article, they seized 8 grams, apparently using 2mg as a fatal dose. (I think your math is off a bit) ---

They also called him “the Big Unit”, which I guess those in the know would know. He always said he felt bad about the bird. He used to get invited to sit in the broadcast booth during Dbacks games. He doesn’t come across as a bad sort. He just can’t stop talking. A single anecdote could run to two innings! Who cares about the hall of fame: he got named dropped in a Law and Order episode! 🙂 ---

He had a white jacket, white gloves and a white helmet. I always assume that number is exaggerated anyway. If a gram of something can kill 1000 people and the police seize an ounce, the headlines are going to say they seized enough to kill ‘over 20, 000 people’. And while the actual drug, in it’s pure form, might be that lethal, the fentanyl or cocaine or whatever is almost certainly nowhere near pure. Unless the journalists are writing those headlines based on lab reports, I wouldn’t be surprised if those numbers should be considerably lower. I just checked the math and it’s exactly that. The article says the seized 8 grams of fentanyl. Wiki says " The LD50 in humans is unknown,[[80]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentanyl#cite_note-80)[[81]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fentanyl#cite_note-81) but it’s estimated that the lethal dose may be as low as 2 mg in some people" 8000mg/2mg = 4000 people. Do we really think that guy is running around with pure, pure fentanyl in a baggie in his pocket? ---

What about those folks I refer to as _Mary Poppins_? They’re out in force in Beijing whenever it rains. These are the folks who are cycling with one hand on the handlebar and the other hand holding an umbrella. Of course, the hand on the handlebar is the hand for the front bake.
