Me too, except the last one, published after his death, was clearly cobbled together by some hack from some notes or an outline and larded with incompetent attempts to capture Hillerman’s characters and story telling skills. So very glad I took it out of the library rather than buying it. ---

I’m sure they would have interfered unless the guy was fast and agile like a feral cat, but even so, someone would have seen what had happened. My observations from strolling the parking lot is that the rails there could have been easily defeated by someone the deceased age and there looked to be access behind the building where someone could get under the walk…probably for maintenance. Suicide by Canyon is also a thing and that appears to be the unofficial verdict according to everything I’ve been hearing locally. ---
