A ‘true’ SovCit should not care who is running the government. Of course they are just a bunch of loons, but if they could follow their own…doctrine. It would not matter. ---

Well, no, if they stayed away from the rest of us and just inflicted their insanity on each other, that would be fine. But they keep interacting with society, to society’s detriment. Have you seen the videos of these idjits’ behavior in traffic stops, or in courtrooms, just as two examples? ---

We need a very large polo mallet (Annie Hall reference) And yes, it is kind of entertaining. The story comes to Yahoo News from a Twitter user named Glickman via a site called northjersey dot com. Do we have any other validation of these numbers? The borough forester involved, named John Linson, would only say that they are “slightly exaggerated.” Actually, if you follow Yahoo’s link, he didn’t say that at all, he didn’t confirm anything except the original citations. At least, I can’t find it. Is this a municipal jurisdiction? Based on the story, it seems to be. That could be good or bad, city governments can be subject to undue influence, but maybe all the publicity protects against that somewhat. Edited to add: the NY Post has some better information: it’s a municipal law about replacing the trees, and Glickman is a friend of the owner of the tree property, who is the actual source of the $1.5 million number. They didn’t say how he came up with that number. ---

The property on which the trees reside is large and is on hillsides, apparently, so this section was not in view of the homeowner’s house. He heard the chainsaws in the distance but not in time to save these 32 trees. Possibly more would have been taken down if he hadn’t intervened. ---
