One doesn’t have many opportunities to type that in good faith. If I hadn’t already known the basics of the story, however, some of their wording was very misleading (e.g. calling the guilty party a “sapling slasher” or something like that, just for a snappy phrase, when the whole point was that these were big mature trees). ---

A friend lives on property in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. He wanted to build an outdoor aviary to house his toucans. This would require the removal of two mature trees. He had to apply for a permit to cut down the trees. He had to plant two replacement trees for each cut down (so four total). Well, that’s a thing in the area and people with property where trees can be planted charge $$$ to allow you to plant. He ended up scraping his plans as the tree fees were ~$10,000 per tree planted. ---

But why did he hit her n the first place? I need a motive! Not that any motive excuses him. But the story just seems incomplete. @eschereal - I realize that Texas is an easy place to make fun of due to its shitty politicians, but I’m a Texan. There are many beautiful places in Texas, and it’s impolite to diss a huge state like that. ---
