See, the way it works is that over time as their shittiness becomes more apparent and infamous, the SovCit label becomes more and more of a pejorative, until eventually it’s the worst thing you can call them. Consider how “Benedict Arnold” became slang for a coward and traitor, and it’s a big insult to call someone that name. So too does Sovereign Citizen become a name that tells you all you need to know about a person. ---

It’s true these guys are full of shit, but they are the inevitable result of a far right movement convinced it can create its own reality apart from established fact. “This is true because I want it to be true.” Just an extreme example of a widespread social phenomenon. ---

The immediate thing I thought of was Frank Drebin from _Police Squad!/The Naked Gun_, chasing a criminal in Brussels, eventually having to climb after him and in a dramatic moment, standing on a giant nude statue’s penis as it breaks off and he desperately has to grab the pubic hair for dear life.
