I wonder if that guy had hit an innocent bystander would everyone here cheering him still be cheering him? I know you’d still blame the prankster more, but you know _ **he shot a gun in a crowded mall.** _ That right there, should be enough to lock him’ up and earn everyone’s censure. ---

The guy was minding his own business doing his job when a large random stranger got up in his face acting irrationally and aggressively. He was in fear for his life and acted in self-defense. That he has had his whole life upturned because of that worthless piece of shit is a grave miscarriage of justice. ---

Agreed, but that fact seems to be waived away. He could have killed someone who didn’t play a loud scary video in his face. One of my fears in my open carry state is someone is going to get in a shoot out in the store I work in and one of my co-workers or I will get shot. It is abysmally stupid to carry a loaded weapon, and shoot someone in a public place. ---

BTW, I take issue with the idea that I’m “cheering him on”, as in “you _go_ boy!”. I’m _empathizing_ with someone put in a frightening, potentially life-threatening situation that he didn’t ask for or deserve and who acted as he felt he needed to protect himself. 20/20 hindsight is this was just a stupid asshole playing a “joke”, but in the moment he had no way of knowing what the guy would try to do to him. ---
