Tangent time: there used to be a funny multi-part story online from an ex-Mormon detailing the time he tried to “save” a friend from abandoning his mandatory missionary trip by calling in a fake bomb threat to stop his flight. That would be an interesting accounting problem. Suppose the flight for which she called in the threat wound up getting cancelled, and all the passengers were booked onto other flights. Could her attorneys argue that she saved the airline the cost of fuel for the flight that didn’t happen? ---

Oh, yes, the airline had to put delayed travelers up in hotels, those travelers should be compensated for their lost time, etc. If the woman who called in the threat is held liable for the costs that were incurred, they would add up to quite a lot. But, if the accountants are very accurate and thorough, there might also be a way in which she saved the airline some money. I hope the debits would still outweigh the credits. ---

Not only hotel rooms and such. But how many flights may have to be screwed up because of the plane coming back to the gate? And parked there for how long? How many other flights where missed? I would NOT employ bean counters for the defense of what appears to be a hissy fit of an idiot that you can only get in more trouble. No fly list and $10,000. Or no fly list and $500,000 ? ---
