There are people practicing voodoo who sacrifice chickens and goats as part of their religion. Eating cats is not a part of their religion, although in parts of the Caribbean cats are viewed both as pets and food animals (Dominica for example). Stranger still, there are Americans who practice transubstantiation, eating the flesh and drinking the blood of their savior! There is an amendment to the constitution that protects these wacky rituals. ---

I note that people raising and/or hunting rabbit for food don’t generally go around stealing their neighbors’ pet rabbits in order to have them for dinner; nor do they generally get accused en masse of doing so. Of course, many of them are white Christians; which has nothing to do with a tendency to steal pets, but IMO a great deal to do with these accusations.
