I suspect these days, if you googled any name and “criminal record” the AI would helpfully provide a felony record for you. ---

Former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott had a St. Bernard named Schottzie. Relevant to this thread because, although she’s been dead for a good two decades, she was one stupid MFer. ---

Indeed, and that’s how I’ve usually heard and seen it used. That said, the father of my uncle (not a blood relation to me), whose given name was Alphonse, went by “Schatzie” (as he spelled it) his entire life; my understanding was that it was a childhood nickname which stuck. He lived in a small city in eastern Wisconsin, and was known to everyone in the area…but most people who knew him had no idea what his actual name was, so he got the phone company to put an entry in the white pages under “Schatzie.” ---

Men are sometimes given feminine-sounding names. The manliest symbol of masculine virility 50~80 years ago, the non-actor (i.e., only ever played a version of himself) who out-non-acted everyone else was given what sounds these days like a woman’s name, which the studio obviously decided needed to be changed. ---

This is more a stupid meme rather than a stupid person story. [A viral video is circulating](https://kpel965.com/video-officer-collapsing-fentanyl/), involving a South Carolina police officer supposedly collapsing from fentanyl exposure during arrest of a suspect. Seems like every few months there’s another case like it. Being scared to death that something is going to harm you ([unjustifiably](https://www.npr.org/2023/05/16/1175726650/fentanyl-police-overdose-misinformation)) unsurprisingly can cause deleterious symptoms. ---

This is why one of my former office managers where I work was paranoid about using grocery carts. These bogus stories about people ODing from touching fentanyl come from a source that seems credible, and now people are worried about dying from touching powder too small to see. This is a case where the news itself is the stupid MFer. Not a shocker from a station that also broadcasts conservative talk shows and Fox News.
