I always pictured a giant combat-robot who could shoot off parts of its feet as rockets. Well, probably spring-loaded rockets that you fired by flicking a little plastic lever on the heel. ---

Last weekend, a historic auditorium in Spartanburg, SC hosted a performance of a contemporary Christian pop opera about the birth of Jesus titled “Behold the Lamb of God”. Actually, I see it being a Kirk Cameron feature, where all those concertgoers get converted due to divine intervention. And [Ray Comfort](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Comfort?wprov=sfti1)’s ministerial testimony. ---

Well, Merry Christmas! You know what made me think of that? When I was a kid, maybe 12-ish, the whole family went to western New York for Christmas - as we did every year as that’s where the grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins were - and when we got back we discovered that we were somehow locked out of the house. It’s January in Northern Maine, a small family of four is huddle by in their car trying to stay warm while Dad becomes the hero and figures out a way in. He recruited me to shimmy up the woodpile and wiggle through the dining room window that he had managed to wedge open somehow. I got into the house and opened the front door and we all whooped and yayed and Dad was a hero. It took me years to think – what kind of sap locks his family out of the house on Christmas? ---

We didn’t even have a key to front door for the longest time. I think Mom finally had a deadbolt installed when the last of the kids went off to college, but very seldom actually locked it (I don’t remember ever not being able to walk in when I came to visit). ---
