But not the question of whether a conviction for this Class D felony depends on the animal being living as opposed to deceased. Kentucky law, section 525.137 does not address the issue.
Note: the law ([look it up if you must](https://law.justia.com/codes/kentucky/chapter-525/section-525-137/)) does make an exception for "accepted veterinary (or) animal husbandry\* practices), which raises even more questions.
\*remembering the classic Tom Lehrer line about someone who majored in animal husbandry “until they caught him at it one day”.

It’s to allow for artificial insemination and medical exams of animals which sometimes involve inserting an appendage into one or another orifice of an animal.

Back when I worked on a dairy farm, a cheerful guy with a cooler full of test tubes and a box full of very long gloves would come by once a week to make sure the calves (and therefore the milk) kept flowing. He had a healthy sense of humor about his job.

I have read quite a few articles from Wired over the years. Can’t recall any that felt edgy or provocative. Maybe a little irreverent. It’s usually just tech reporting.

To be fair, the comment he shared was against the attack on Iran, parodying the government post in style but anti sending Americans to war in the Middle East. That’s certainly a mainstream Democratic position.
The problem is the source was from a “despicable” account, prompting the question of why and how he got that post from that source.
