Assuming the whale was most sincerely dead when the carver found it, that seems _less_ harmful than carving initials into a tree. Which humans have been doing since shortly after humans were invented. ---

I can’t deny it’s stupid, so appropriate for this thread, but only because it’s a pointless waste of effort. Presumably it won’t last longer than it takes the whale to be towed out to sea to sink and feed the fishes. I assume that’s something like what they do these days. They aren’t still exploding them are they? I have to shake my head a little at those whose knickers are now twisted over this, because it is disrespectful to a dead whale. I guess I’m just not as enlightened as I thought I was. ---
