I was stopped by the equivalent of the TSA in England when they learned that I had cyanoacrylate “Super Glue” in my luggage. It was even still in the blister pack. This was before 9/11, but they confiscated it anyway. When I asked why, they said it was an “irritant” (My wife _Pepper Mill’s_ theory – somebody had to glue something.) I can’t _imagine_ what they’d do if they found live ammo in my luggage. ---

Four rounds is four bullets. That’s actually not (usually) large objects. Depending how you travel, where you travel, why you travel, and how you pack I could see something like that being leftover from a prior trip. That said - if you’re traveling out of the country, or just going through an airport period, you really, really should thoroughly check your luggage for anything that might be even vaguely an issue - certain types of medication, pepper spray, nail clippers, bullets, whatever. ---

Cyanoacrylate, when poured on certain organic materials (cotton, wool, fiberglass, etc.), produces a lot of heat. You could maybe produce some smoke or start a fire that way, although it’s usually only dangerous to the person who accidentally mixes them. ---

Individual bullets are pretty small, but would one ever actually carry bullets loose? Wouldn’t they be in an ammo box, or some sort of clip, or something? ---

I keep mine in a bandolier. It has room for a couple of hand grenades, too. ---

I saw one interview (can’t find it now, of course) where the guy said the bullets were in some sort of bag designed specifically to carry ammo. He had used the carry-on while driving to a hunting trip last fall. Still, though, don’t you look inside your bag before you pack for a vacation? ---

I did get caught once with a Swiss Army knife in my F/A kit for a hiking trip. It was meant to go in my checked bag but ended up in my carry on. I just had them toss it. But that was a domestic flight, I check things more carefully for international flights. Having said that, we went to TCI last year and I never came across the State Department warning about carrying firearms there. ---

May in just say that, every time I see this thread in the feed, I instinctively think “Ooh! A thread for [Diablo II] Magic Finders!” And each time I scroll past just a little sadder than I was before once I remember that’s not what MFers stands for in this context. ---
